Mothers Day Stall The Parents and Friends will be holding a mothers day stall tomorrow 12th May in the Media Centre. There will be a wide variety of gifts available for the children to choose from. All children will be given the opportunity to attend the stall during the day. Prices will start from $2.00. Plastic Bags and Parent helpers required. Plastic shopping bags are required for the Mother’s Day Stall. If you have any spare, please send the bags along to school with your child. If you are able to help on the day please leave your name and contact details at the office, any help would be greatly appreciated.

THE ANZAC SERVICE
On the 25th of April I went to Dawn Service. I woke up at 3 o`clock in the morning. I got ready. I went there with my dad, my brothers and my sister. Every year I attend to Dawn Service in St. Kilda Road. When I got there, there was a big screen that showed photos of people that were in the war. The people were very quiet when one of the soldiers was talking. When they played last post, we stood in silence for a minute. There were three flags that were going down, one was an Australian flag, the other was a New Zealand flag and the last one was a Turkish flag. People attend to Dawn Service to pay respect to all the soldiers that passed away during the World War 1. When the service was finished they opened the doors of Shrine of Remembrance. My aunty was also getting interviewed by Channel 7 and 9, because she was in the army. We stayed there about 3 hours and we went back home to have a rest. I straight away went to sleep. I am looking forward to next year`s service. By Ali NATAPU

2017 MHPS SCHOOL TOURS FOR NEW PARENTS
Book a school tour to visit our school on Wednesday mornings at 9:00am or Friday afternoons at 3:00pm each week. If you have a child who will star t PREP at MHPS in 2018 or know a potential parent whose child will start at MHPS P-6, please make a booking or come and enrol ASAP as our PREP program is very popular and places fill up very quickly. 25th Celebration Festival
2017 is our 25th year as a school and to celebrate we will be be holding a festival on the 18th of November at the school. If you are able to assist in any way please contact the office. On Saturday 6th of May, 9 students from the MHPS Glee Club performed at the Arts Learning Festival Showcase event organised by Independent Schools Australia.The performance took place on the Birrarung Marr stage (near Federation Square in the CBD). As part of the festival activities at Birrarung Marr, the organisers invited schools to perform on the Festival Showcase Stage, and we were one of the lucky school to perform.The students did an amaxing job and Mrs Leach, Mrs De Fillipis, Mr Pace and I are very proud, as I’m sure the students’ parents/carers are as well. I would like to thank the parents/carers of these 9 students who took time from their busy Saturdays to bring their children to the Festival. This successful performance would not have happend without the support of the parents/carers as well as staff members. Every year during term 1, all students at Meadow Heights Primary School are taught about Cyber-Safety – being safe online and using digital technologies safely. As part of this learning all students in grades 3/4 & 5/6 attended a performance called ‘The Magic Words’ on Friday the 5th of May 2017. ‘The Magic Words’ is a live educational theatre show of comic adventures, which helps students discover the true meaning of using magic words – “sorry”, “thank you”, “please”, “excuse me” - and come to understand that having good values and showing respect is an important and essential part of growing up. Students will also learn the value of using their ‘magic words’ online and how to safely share information about themselves and others in an increasingly digital world.
