EPFO - Aadhar Seeding of Contributory Members to allow ECR w.e.f 01-06-2021

As per Section 142 of the Code on Social Security, any employee or unorganised worker shall

establish his identity and the identity of his family members or dependants through Aadhaar

number for availing various social security benefits.

Accordingly, Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has Notified Aadhar Seeding

as per Section 142 of Code on Social Security 2020 to allow ECR w.e.f 01-06-2021.

Therefore, w.e.f 01-06-2021, ECR filing shall be allowed only for those members, whose Aadhaar

numbers are seeded and verified with the UAN’s.

Hence Employers are directed to ensure that Aadhar seeding in respect of the contributory

members to enable them to avail uninterrupted services of the EPFO and to avoid inconveniences.

A copy of the Gazette Notification No. CG-DL-E-04052021-226829 dated 03.05.2021 and a copy

of the “Message to Employers” by EPFO New Delhi are attached.

Message for Employers

“Dear Employer, with the coming into force of the Section 142 of the Code on Social Security, 2020, the

ECR shall be allowed to be filed only for those members, whose Aadhaar numbers are seeded and

verified with the UANs, w.e.f 01.06.2021.

Accordingly, please ensure the Aadhaar seeding in respect of all the contributory members to enable

them to avail uninterrupted services of the EPFO and to avoid any inconvenience.

Government hereby appoints the 3rd

day of May, 2021 as the date on which the provisions of section 142 of the said

Code shall come into force.
