In the wake of a diffi cult economic recovery, PTSC M&C has strived to navigate our business through the challenging waves caused by the stiff competition in the oil and gas technical service segment and continue with our achievements. Those milestones achieved in passing quarters are lively testimonies of our management’s and employees’ coordinated efforts. Together we are confi dent to grow into an even more vibrant organization while never compromising on our commitment to quality and safety and our com-mitment to clients.

We hope the second version of our company newsletter fi nds everyone well and wish you en-joyable moments of reading.

BD1 PROJECT PTSC M&C’S GLOW OF PRIDE

With an amazing record schedule since the fi rst-cut ceremony for BD1 Project in July 2010, PTSC M&C has

made its fi rst milestones in mostly completing the onshore fabrication work, ready for the offshore instal-

lation campaign ahead.

The work-scope of BD1 project encom-passes the engineering, procurement, construction, installation, offshore hook-up support for 01 Central Processing Plat-form (PQP-HT) (including a 70-person-on-board living quarter); 02 Wellhead Platforms namely Hai Thach 1 (HT1) and Moc Tinh 1 (MT1), 03 jackets (for PQP-HT, WHP-MT1 and WHP-HT1); 01 Link Bridge of which the total weight of facilities is approximately 60,000MT coupled with 70km pipelines and 21km subsea cables.

There have been lots of concerted ef-forts made by Bien Dong POC’s and PTSC M&C’s employees to get BD1 project exe-cuted safely and effectively. Such endeav-ors, ultimately, were acknowledged with the load-out and sail-away ceremony of the PQP-HT Jacket on 27th June 2012.

Having attended the ceremony were there Deputy Prime Minister of the S.R of Vietnam, leaders from Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province, Vietnamese Ministries, Minis-try Divisions and representatives of Viet-nam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam). Also did such well-established oil & gas operators and partners as TNK Vietnam B.V, Talisman Vietnam, Premier Oil, KNOC, Thang Long JOC, NSEC, etc. present at this memorable event.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dong Xuan Thang, PTSC M&C’s Director highlighted that being awarded BD1 project is PTSC M&C’s great achievement yet very chal-lenging in terms of technology and execu-tion schedule. So far, this project has been considered as one of the most technically complicated offshore projects in Vietnam.

The very tight 29-month schedule of the project has presented many challenges to PTSC M&C. Nevertheless, the integrated team formed by PTSC M&C and Bien Dong POC have been side by side in each and every issue to ensure the smooth and suc-cessful project realization, safety, and high quality. As at 14th June 2012, the project has achieved more than 8 million man-hours without any lost time incidents.

That PTSC M&C successfully completes BD1 project will not only be PTSC M&C’s great accomplishment which underscores its competence on a regional scale but also scan the horizon with a greater sense of confi dence in the capability of Vietnamese local EPC/EPCI contractors, added by Mr. Vu Khanh Truong, PetroVietnam’s member of Board of Directors.

PTSC M&C has secured a major EPCIC contract worth approximately $ 113 million in Vietnam. The contract was awarded by Lam Son

JOC, a joint operating company be-tween PetroVietnam Exploration Produc-tion Corporation (PVEP, Vietnam) and Petronas Carigali Overseas Sdn Company (Malaysia).

The scope of work includes 2 wellhead platforms namely Thang Long and Dong Do with topsides weighing approximately 1,100 tons per each, 15km infi eld pipeline and 87 ton PLEMs (Pipeline End Manifold) and PLET (Pipeline End Termination). The slogan of this year World Environment Day (WED) lies in the theme named “Green Economy: Does it include you?” It is said by the United Nations Environment Program that the Green Economy aims at improving human well-being as well as social eq-

uity whilst dramatically reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities, adding the fact that a brighter future of our planet earth is built upon our today key concept of economic development. This year WED is in the effort to increase people’s awareness of the negatively severe impact of manufacturing activities on the Mother Earth. Accordingly, having received the support and collaboration of a large number of countries, organizations, govern-ments around the globe will become overwhelming power to wide-spread the objective of the Green Economy. It is believed that all the so-far-given-efforts will make a positive contribution to protect the environment while ensuring and motivating the sustain-able growth.

In order to echo the calls of “World Environment Day”, PTSC M&C has built up detailed action plans for all employees and the management board. Relevant speeches are delivered to raise people’s awareness in the weekly safety meeting every Monday. Also has the company urged the proper mode of execution of the 5S- programme as well as intensifi ed such environment protection efforts as planting trees, classifying waste, etc. More particularly, PTSC M&C’s employees have proactively carried out the following action plans:

• At home: follow the 3R concept for waste minimization namely reduce, reuse and recycle; • In public places: take part in “Keep your City clean” activities;• In workplaces: make proper use of materials, resources in a saving- manner; utilize recyclable materials, keep the working place clean; classify wastes and put them in compulsorily-requested trash cans.

THE CALIFORNIA MARITIME ACADEMY’S VISIT TO PTSC M&C

The California Maritime Academy (CMA) is one of the seven granting institutions of its kind in the United States. The school was founded as a nautical school in 1929, but in the 1990s, it became the 22nd campus in the California State University system. With approximately 850 students, CMA is the smallest college in the California State University system but it serves one of the highest job placement rates, particularly 95% of its graduates have jobs within 6 months after graduation, said Dr. Nipoli Kamdar, Professor of CMA.

According to Dr. Nipoli Kamdar, Vietnam was chosen as a destination for the CMA trip because it is endowed with a long coastline in which many ports, shipping and logistics companies are operating that could enrich their students’ knowledge af-ter visiting. In addition, the delegation was recommended by the Vietnam Maritime University to call on oil and gas EPCI con-tractors in Vietnam and specifi cally PTSC M&C became one of the highlights of the

students’ trip, Dr. Nipoli Kamdar remarked. At the meeting, some constructive ideas were discussed between the two parties in terms of PTSC M&C working environment, work incentives as well as its policies to at-tract the best candidates from Vietnamese top-notch universities. With the current manpower resource of more than 3,000 people among which the young labor ac-counts for approximately 64%, PTSC M&C has made thorough investment in effective on-job training systems with the aim of supporting new-hires to quickly grasp the concept of their jobs and soon put it into practice. Years by years, the company on-job training systems have superbly dem-onstrated their effi ciency and effectiveness as well as have made a positive contribu-tion to the company development, added by Mr. Dong Xuan Thang, PTSC M&C’s Di-rector.

In closing, CMA’s students were guided to visit PTSC M&C’s fabrication yard in the joyful atmosphere of friendship.

The 18-member delegation com-prising of the professor and stu-dents from the California Mari-

time Academy (CMA) made a two-week visit to various termi-nals, port authorities, shipyards, shipping, logistics and oil & gas companies in Vietnam. On 21st May 2012, the delegation was

warmly received by PTSC M&C
