PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release
Uber’s Tesla cars partner with Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation
The car-sharing company and its sustainable vehicles promote a low carbon future for the planet’s
wellbeing with Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation
London, January 5th, 2018 - The popular car-sharing company Uber, will launch their
collaboration with Tesla Motors, partnering together with the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation
(LDF), for a cleaner environment and future. The three successful organizations will host a cocktail
event presentation in the Grand Ballroom of the Four Season Hotel, in London, January 5th.
The goal is to raise awareness on fighting climate change by cooperating with the Leonardo
DiCaprio Foundation, aiming to preserve earth’s wellbeing thanks to electric, low carbon vehicles,
such as Tesla, used as car-sharing for Uber.
“Our goal is to create solutions for the wellbeing of our environment, and we believe that raising
the number of electric cars, like Tesla, in our growing car-sharing service, will improve our future”
states CEO of Uber, Dara Khosrowshahi, on Twitter.
To promote the awareness on how fuel-efficient hybrids and electric mobility, paired with the
growing car-sharing system, are a solution for the future and wellbeing of our environment, Uber is
collaborating with the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation. One car-sharing vehicle replaces 9 to 13
vehicles, (source: Transportation Sustainability Research Center) and the growth of low
carbon/electric vehicles on the market such as Tesla, could help prevent a catastrophic future for the
environment and the economy.
Through campaigns and partnerships, LDF’s mission is to implement solutions that help restore
balance and ensure long-term health of all Earth’s inhabitants, in addition to bringing attention to
the public and to world leaders to address this global climate crisis, since 1998.

“The transportation sector is one of the largest contributors of heat-trapping gases to the
atmosphere. The need of innovations, such as lowering carbon by blending renewable biofuels, and
by reducing emissions, even from facilities that produce fuels, is essential in times like these”
Leonardo Di Caprio stated at the Gala for the environment, in St. Tropez, France.

OTHER INFO (Reviews, Press clippings)
“I decided to sell my car after the advent of Uber in my city. I wanted to contribute to our planet’s
wellbeing, plus I love having a driver bring me wherever I have to go, at any time. There are too
many cars in my city and the traffic is outrageous!” – Lisa, from Rome, Italy
“If everybody could collaborate and share rides instead of driving by themselves, there would be
less traffic and less pollution. Uber is a solution for this, our cars are not as essential as we think.
Plus, with Tesla cars being available with Uber, we can improve our future of transportation!” –
Brandon, from Chicago
“Thanks to Leonardo Di Caprio, we have a chance of saving our planet and species. I believe
because he’s so inspiring and brilliant, and with his popularity, he can change people’s minds to
adapt positive habits for our environment.” – Michelle Obama on an interview with The New York
Times
“Tesla is the car of the future. I hope that in a short amount of time, we will all be able to buy these
affordable electric cars, and replace old, polluting motors. That would bring a huge positive change
to our world” – Terry Tamminen, CEO of LDF on The Financial Times
Strategy & Goals – REFLECTION PAPER
Our planet’s environment is in danger, and if we don’t start aiming for better solutions to
problems humans caused, our species (animals, plants and humans) might not be able to live on it
anymore. Progress for a cleaner future is being made, but it’s not enough. Pollution from cars’
engines is the main cause of global warming. Although changes are happening, and a positive
outcome for our future is being considered, we, as humans, need to collaborate harder.
Thanks to the sharing economy, we are sharing services and tools, rather than buying new
things, therefore, finding modes to reduce waste and money. Car-sharing has revolutionized
transportation, lowering car consumption, thus contributing to minimizing pollution. In addition,
alternate ways have been invented to substitute regular engines and gasoline, to lower carbon
emissions.
The most successful leading companies of these two sectors, are Uber and Tesla. With 40
million rides monthly, and over 77% of US ride-hailing market, Uber has revolutionized
transportation. Introducing Tesla vehicles in Uber’s service, is a strategic plan, and will have
positive outcomes, especially when all of Uber’s (and the world’s) vehicles will be substituted by
Tesla’s electric cars, which do not pollute.
Uber being so popular, and increasing worldwide, collaborating with Tesla and its electric
cars, could be a great solution for the future of the environment, and could contribute to reducing
CO2 emissions. One car-sharing vehicle replaces 9 to 13 vehicles, (source: Transportation
Sustainability Research Center) as people are getting used to taking a car-sharing rather than driving
or even buying a car.
The goal here is to convince people to think strategically before buying a new car, as there
exist many facilitated ways for travelling and transportation, in today’s advanced cities. With this
event, we hope to call the attention of car manufacturers, to stop producing regular motors for
vehicles. Having less cars on the road, or only electric cars, will not only reduce traffic, but also
CO2 emissions, which are causing global warming.
Therefore, to promote the joining of Uber with Tesla, and raise awareness on the good cause
the collaboration of our company, Uber, with Leonardo Di Caprio Foundation (LDF), is essential
and clever.
The LDF supports innovative projects, which protect the wellbeing of our earth, through
collaborative partnerships, therefore it was easy for them to agree my company to work with our
collaboration. Together, our goals are to raise awareness on our environmental issues, on the
solutions and habits that can be absorbed into our daily lives, and on the ethical behavior of our
company, Uber, which adopts solutions to fight climate change, in this case partnering with Tesla,
and promoting the will to take action and save our planet, through the Leonardo DiCaprio
Foundation.
Uber’s CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, will be presenting and explaining the benefits of Tesla
Motors paired with the most popular, worldwide car-sharing company, Uber. Tesla is a growing
corporation, which is being recognized around the world, and with the help of Uber, we hope
people will finally consider leaving behind their own car, and collaborating with the sharing
economy, to stop waste. To better gain interest and success in this project, the event will host
celebrity Leonardo Di Caprio, which will discuss earth’s environmental issues and solutions to
which we can adapt in order to preserve our planet.
The event will be held in London, a global and diverse, highly populated city. This city
moves fast, thinks fast, and is the home to great businesses and companies, such as the newspaper
The Financial Times’, which is the news media this event is directed towards, among other news
media.
The Financial Times is a daily newspaper directed towards business and economic news,
and considered the most important business read, reaching 36% of the sample population, 11%
more than The Wall Street Journal (source: Global Capital Markets Survey). This event aims to be
covered by The Financial Times, as it would grab a global attention, and present a relevant article to
their category of news coverage.
If this occasion were to take place, I’m sure it would be a successful project that will be
considered one of the most important of the year.
