1.0 PREAMBLE

URSC Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru is engaged in the development of space crafts for

various applications such as Communication, Remote Sensing and Scientific activities. Solar

panels are the Power generating elements for the Spacecraft. Each space craft consists up to

10 solar panels with multi junction solar cells from different vendors. Presently, the solar

panels for the space crafts of URSC are being realised by URSC with in-house capacity with

limited external manpower support for assembly and testing of new design and development

work and standard solar array requirements are met by M/s BHEL with a production quantity

of 30 to 35 sq mt solar panels per annum.

The fabrication of solar panels and testing of solar cells and panels require special skill,

expertise, dedicated infrastructure and capital equipments. The required technical know-how

for solar panel fabrication and testing of solar cells and panel activities shall be transferred by

URSC. The facility required for Solar panels fabrication and testing of solar cells and solar

panels is established at ISITE premises with capital equipments supplied by URSC
