A flexible and modular platform
Many kinds of vertical applications can be plugged in the
IPWS platform.
A wrapper is needed for each app(lication).
The current WIPS is developed in Drupal 7: applications can be ad-
hoc contributed modules.
The IPWS provides:
A JSON Web Service to fetch data from heterogeneous sources;
Access to infographic modules to display data in the Space.
A flexible and articulated mechanism for data filtering and sharing.
Risk profiling is done outside the IPWS. 30
MedIcona as proof of concept
Our first WIPS is more health oriented: we called it
MedIcona1, and it’s an open-source EHR where citizens can:
Share health-related content with their GPs, other specialists, relatives, friends,
possibly anyone and everyone;
Discuss it, understand it in a social communicative practice;
Meet people “around&about” a content of theirs/regarding them.

be fed into an IT system.
We should address the question:
why should a citizen either want or like to do that?

be fed into an IT system.
We should address the question:
why should a citizen either want or like to do that?
Our answer is to think of applications that bring value to
the people first; leverage the social nature of human beings.
Only then it’s safe to address the IT-related challenges.
