Rental General Information

Hoskin Scientifi c has been distributing scientifi c instrumentation for over sixty years. Our Rental department was conceived and started over twenty years ago due to

a demand for short time usage of instrumentation.

We off er high quality, proven equipment that will provide the user with valuable data as well as numerous ways of retrieving, fi ltering and viewing that data. We

carry a wide range of instrumentation, including: water quality, portable gas monitors, soil sampling instruments and more.

Customer satisfaction is our goal and we make an eff ort to ensure that all our customers are satisfi ed with their rental. All rental instruments are cleaned and

calibrated before being sent to the user (please note that we also require equipment to be returned clean). If a rental instrument requires recalibration, please return

the instrument to us and we will recalibrate at no charge. Any instrument not functioning properly can be exchanged at no cost.

Widely used in fresh and salt water for taking samples of hard bottoms such as sand, gravel, consolidated

marl, or clay. When the scoops contact the bottom, they obtain good penetration with very little sample

disturbance. Light weight and designed for hand use.


Hess Sampler

Similar to Surbers but suitable for gravel and cobble bottoms. Cylindrical with enclosed sides and an

open top, it has two strong reversible handles for forcibly pushing and rotating the cylinder into stream

bottoms. The sampler penetrates 3 - 6” (75 - 150 mm). Once in place, scrub the pebbles inside so the

specimens are carried by the current into the net. Water fl ows in through the upstream window and out

the downstream window into the collecting net and bucket.

The LR-24 Electrofi sher is a rugged 24V 400W battery powered electrofi sher. It is suitable for extensive

GEM 2000 PLUS Portable Gas Analyzer

The GEM™2000 Plus is designed to monitor landfi ll gas extraction systems where H2S and CO

monitoring may be required. The GEM™2000 Plus monitoring instrument analyzes Landfi ll Gas (LFG)

composition, calculates fl ow, is certifi ed Intrinsically Safe and off ers improved speed and accuracy. It

also measures and displays Btu content, temperature (with optional Temperature Probe) relative and

atmospheric pressures as well as CH4 LEL (Lower Explosive Limit).

As almost any type of soil sets its own demands where it concerns the model of the auger to be applied.

In the course of the years many models have been developed. Years of experience and many contacts

with soil researchers at home and abroad made it possible to achieve the optimum design for various

types.

Magnetic Locators

Easy-To-Use

The GA-52Cx Locator detects the magnetic fi eld of iron and steel objects and energized power lines.

Both provide audio detection signals that peak in frequency when the locator’s tip is held directly over

the target.

Only two Controls

Designed for one-hand operations, the On/Off -Sensitivity and Volume controls are located on the

underside of the cover on both locators. This provides easy access, protects the knobs and contributes to

their overall ruggedness and dependability.

Guelph Permeameter Kit, consists of: permeameter fi eld tripod, well auger, well preparation and

cleanup tools, and vacuum test hand pump, in a durable carrying case.

This is an easy to use instrument for quickly and accurately measuring of in-situ hydraulic conductivity.

Measurements can be made in the range of 15 to 75 cm below the soil surface.

Hoskin Scientifi c Limited to the customer, now or in the future. Such equipment shall remain the sole and exclusive

property of Hoskin Scientifi c Limited. Customer shall have no right, title or interest therein except as expressly set

forth herein.

2. Rental Period. Equipment may be available for daily, weekly or monthly rental periods. The rental period on

the equipment commences when the equipment leaves Hoskin Scientifi c Limited. Rental charges commence either;

when the customer receives the equipment, or a later date previously determined through discussion between

customer and Hoskin Scientifi c Limited. Rental charges stop when Hoskin Scientifi c Limited receives the

equipment back.

3. Delivery and return. All equipment is provided FOB shipping point. Shipping will be made as specifi ed by the

customer and at customers expense. Unless customer notifi es Hoskin Scientifi c Limited to the contrary within the

next working day after receipt of the equipment, it shall be conclusively deemed that the equipment was delivered to

the customer in good operating condition. Equipment shall be returned to Hoskin Scientifi c Limited prepaid, insured

shipment at the end of the rental period. Customer shall return equipment to Hoskin Scientifi c Limited in good

operating condition, normal wear and tear expected, and customer shall clean and decontaminate all equipment in

accordance with all established requirements for customer’s jobsite or project.

Hoskin Scientifi c Limited will inspect equipment upon return. In the event that any item of equipment is missing,

damaged due to neglect, misuse, modifi cation, shipping, accident or returned not in good operating condition, the

customer will bear all responsibility for replacement costs (purchase value of goods) and/or any incurred repairs

costs.

4. Timely return. During the rental period, you may be able to extend the term of the rental agreement. Please

inquire in writing at least two days prior to the expiration of the rental term defi ned in this agreement or the most

recent extension.

5. Renewal. If the equipment is not returned to Hoskin Scientifi c Limited before the expiration of the original term

of the rental agreement or the expiration of any renewal terms, rental charges for the additional time period beyond

the original or renewal term of the rental agreement shall be due to Hoskin Scientifi c Limited. Rental charges for

fractional periods shall be prorated on a daily basis.

6. Payment Terms. All invoices are due net 30 days from invoice date subject to credit approval. Customers with

past due amounts will be subject to a 2% per month carrying charge. If a customer’s account is in arrears Hoskin

Scientifi c Limited reserves the right to terminate this Agreement, take immediate possession of the equipment and

recover from the customer all amounts due hereunder, together with Hoskin Scientifi c Limited costs, including

reasonable legal fees and costs.

7. Ownership/use. The equipment shall remain the property of Hoskin Scientifi c Limited and is provided to the

customer solely on a rental basis without any option to purchase unless such option is granted prior to the

commencement of the rental period and explicitly set forth therein. Customer shall use the equipment only at the

equipment location, and shall not remove, rent, transfer, assign, sublet, sell, alter, modify or encumber any item of

the equipment without Hoskin Scientifi c Limited prior written consent.

8. Safekeeping. Customer is responsible for the safekeeping of all Hoskin Scientifi c Limited equipment and the

complete decontamination and cleaning before its return to Hoskin Scientifi c Limited. If it is determined that a

piece of equipment has not been properly decontaminated, all additional costs to assure its proper decontamination

will be the responsibility of the customer along with all damages due to theft, loss or abuse. Rental charges will

continue until Hoskin Scientifi c Limited receives a replacement unit or until the proper decontamination process is

completed.

9. Maintenance. You at your cost shall keep equipment in good working order and be responsible for the

maintenance and repair of the equipment during the term of this rental agreement. You shall not repair or perform

substantial maintenance on the equipment without prior written consent and direction of Hoskin Scientifi c Limited.

“Substantial maintenance” shall mean any maintenance beyond that set forth in the manufacturers written

instructions and specifi cations for the use of the equipment.

10. Service. In the event the equipment does not operate properly, customers shall notify Hoskin Scientifi c Limited

and request instructions before taking any remedial action or before returning it to Hoskin Scientifi c Limited. In the

event that any item of equipment requires repair as a result of accident or customers unauthorized tampering, repair,

negligence or misuse of such items, customers shall bear the entire cost of repairs, including any shipping costs.

11. Acceptance, Limitation or Liability, Disclaimer, Assignment of Warranties. Customer represents and

agrees that the equipment is of a size, design, capacity, and manufacture selected by the customer and has

unconditionally accepted each item of equipment. Hoskin Scientifi c Limited shall not be liable for any liability, loss

or damage caused or alleged to be caused directly or indirectly by the equipment, by any inadequacy thereof or

defi ciency or defect therein by any incident whatsoever in connection therewith unless such damage or loss is

directly caused by Hoskin Scientifi c Limited intentional acts. Hoskin Scientifi c Limited neither makes nor shall be

deemed to have made, and customer hereby waives, any warranty or representation, either express or implied,

without limitation, any warranty or representation as to the design, quality or condition of the equipment or any

warranty or merchantability or fi tness of the equipment for any particular purpose or as to any other matter relating

to the equipment or any part thereof on the basis of its own judgment and expressly disclaims reliance upon any

statements, representations or warranties made by Hoskin Scientifi c Limited and customer acknowledges that

Hoskin Scientifi c Limited is not a manufacturer of the equipment.

12. Indemnifi cation of Hoskin Scientifi c Limited. Customer shall indemnify, hold harmless and defend Hoskin

Scientifi c Limited from any and all claims, actions and damages, including legal fees and costs arising out of the

equipment and its use, rental, possession, operation, condition, purchase, and return, including without limitation

any such claims arising out of the theory of strict liability in tort, which obligations shall survive termination of this

Agreement.

13. Equipment Sales. In the event the customer purchases equipment;

a. Exclusion of warranties: The parties agree that the implied warranties of merchantability and fi tness for a

particular purpose and all other warranties, expressed or implied, shall not be relied upon by customer and are not

part of this agreement. To the extent possible, Hoskin Scientifi c Limited shall pass to customer the benefi t of any

applicable warranties of the manufacturer of the equipment.

b. Delivery: All Equipment is provided FOB shipping point. Shipment will be made as specifi ed by customer and

at customers expense. Customer shall reimburse Hoskin Scientifi c Limited for any shipping expenses incurred by

Hoskin Scientifi c Limited.

c. Paragraph 7, 8, 9 and 10 shall apply to sales transactions.

14. Entire Agreement. The terms set forth herein constitute the entire agreement, Hoskin Scientifi c Limited and

customers with respect to the equipment, and shall not be amended except in writing signed by both parties.
