    Yes Standard Penetration Tests were conducted to

    determine soil type/ quality. The general idea of sub-

    surface profile is given below:

    Layer 1: Black Clay (Black cotton soil) Thickness of this layer is about 0.5m to 2.5m

    Layer 2: Residual soil This layer mostly consists of brown clay of very stiff

    consistency. It is found anywhere between 1m to 4m

    depending on the location.

    Layer 3: Completely weathered basalt bedrock (hard murrum)

    This layer is formed from the disintegration of parent

    rock but still partially retains the rock mass structure.

    It is found as a very dense layer.

    1.5 Construction works Yes The proposal pertains to construction of sale and

    rehab buildings at Chembur Village, Mumbai.

    1.6 Demolition work No LIG chawls to be demolished and redeveloped. The

    debris will be disposed to authorized site through

    authorized contractors with permission from MCGM.
