SECTORS IN

ECONOMYINDIAN

Page 3: Environment by PC

What is an Emerging Sector..?Emerging sector refers to an industry

within an economy or a country that is in its initial stageof development, and is expected to grow rapidly

in coming few years.

Page 4: Environment by PC

Emerging SectorFor a sector to be considered as an emerging sector,

The first condition is that it is a sectorwhich has established its presence

but is not very big currently.

The other condition is that it iscurrently growing fast and is capable to become

an important sector of the economy in near future

Page 5: Environment by PC

Emerging Sectors of India• Information Technology (IT)• IT Enabled Services (ITES)• Energy

Renewable Energy Non-Renewable Energy

• Telecommunication• Infrastructure• Retail and Logistics• e-Commerce & m-Commerce

(e is for electronic & m for mobile)

• Food Processing• Manufacturing Sector• Health Care• Organized Retailing• Education and Training• Tourism• Entertainment• Insurance• Knowledge Process Outsourcing

and many more...

Page 6: Environment by PC

Reasons for the emergence of sector..??

The factors that helps in the emergence of any sector or that promotes the sector upwards:

Increase in the no. of consumers Entry of Foreign Investors Advancement in the Technology Rise in the income Media Explosion Rise of Consumerism

Page 7: Environment by PC

Increase in the no. of consumers

In India the no. of consumers are growingrapidly. The rising consumer demandand income has given opportunity toall the sectors to grow and prosper.

They expect quality products at decentprices and a wide range of products.

Page 8: Environment by PC

Entry of Foreign Investors

Indian sectors are catching the interest of foreign investors.

Due to liberalization, multinationalshave entered out country throughjoint ventures and franchising.

Page 9: Environment by PC

Advancement in the Technology

Page 10: Environment by PC

Advancement in the Technology

Technology is one of the dynamic factors responsible for the growth of any sector.

Introduction of computerization & electronic media have changed the face of all the sectors.

It provides vast market and also creates awareness.

With the increasing use of technology and innovation, sellers are selling their products online.

Page 11: Environment by PC

Rise in the income

Increase in the literacy level has resulted into growth of income among the population. Such growth has taken place not only in the cities but also in towns and remote areas.

As a result, the increase in income has ledto increase in demand. Rising incomelevels and education have contributedto the evolution.

Page 12: Environment by PC

Media Explosion

There has been an explosion in mediadue to satellite television and internet.

Indian consumers are exposed to thelifestyle of other countries.

Their expectations for quality products, services, and convenience have also risen.

Page 13: Environment by PC

Rise of Consumerism

Consumerism : the protection or promotion of the interests of consumers.

With the emergence of consumerism, the businessman faces a moreknowledgeable & demanding consumer.

The growing consumer expectation hasforced to change the format doing business.

Page 14: Environment by PC

Role of FDI in theEmergence of any Sector

Page 15: Environment by PC

Advantages of FDI for the country

• Transfer of Advance and Updated Technology• Economic Development• Easy International Trade• Employment and Economic Boost• Development of Human Capital Resources• Increased Productivity• Increment in the income

Page 16: Environment by PC

What is the meaning of 1$≈67 ₹ ..??

Page 17: Environment by PC

The meaning of 1$≈67₹Lets suppose, there is only one shop from where you can get a chocolate.

Let us name it as shop A.And shopkeeper of shop A takes only 10₹ note, and no other currency.

Then if you want to buy 2 chocolates, you will give two 10₹ notes.

And For 5 chocolates, you will give five 10₹ notes. And so on…

A situation will arise when you are finished with 10₹ notes and still wants to buy more chocolates.

Page 18: Environment by PC

The meaning of 1$≈67₹At that time you go to another shop and exchange your 100₹ note for ten 10₹ notes.Lets name that shop as shop B.

Similarly every one else will do the same thing.

Now with the increase in demand of the customers who want to change their currency with 10₹ notes, the shopkeeper of shop B decides to give nine 10₹ notes in exchange of one 100₹ note.

Now your currency, which has a value of ₹100 is now become equals to ₹90 (in another form).

Page 19: Environment by PC

The meaning of 1$≈67₹Similarly as the demand goes on increasing, the shopkeeper of shop B starts decreasing the amount likeeight 10₹ notes for 100₹ note and seven 10₹ notes for 100₹ note and so on…And the value of your currency keeps on decreasing…

Same is the case with ₹ and $.The demand of $ has increased so much over the time that, at present scenario, the value of 1$≈ 67₹

Page 20: Environment by PC

FDI is really important...This is the importance of FDI for any country. It helps in the strengthening of the currency of the country.

And for the emergence of any sector in the developing country like ours, FDI plays a very important role.

Page 21: Environment by PC

Example from the current situationLike now a days,The demand for smaller currency is increasing, due to demonetization.

The ban on the currency note of ₹500 and ₹1,000 increases the value of smaller currency notes like ₹100 and ₹50.

The ₹500 note is now getting exchanged for ₹400 and even lesser in some places.

Page 22: Environment by PC

What Indians wish, when they listen about

$$ Dollar $$

There is something more to tell about this, but after a little while…

Till then lets see something else.

Let us know about

Page 23: Environment by PC

Every Indian wish this…

Page 24: Environment by PC

What if we get 1$=1 ₹.?

Page 25: Environment by PC

Does more value of the currency means better economy..?

Page 26: Environment by PC

Absolutely NOT

Page 27: Environment by PC

Currency Value ≠ Strength of the Economy

If that was the case, thenBangladesh would have had a stronger economy than Japan

Page 28: Environment by PC

Because…

Page 29: Environment by PC

The question was…

What if we get 1$=1 ₹,in the short period of time.?

Suppose, you wake up tomorrow and got news, that from now1$=1 ₹…

Page 30: Environment by PC

Well, it will definitely have some Pros

ButPros can’t be alone, it must have some Cons also.

Because

Is also made from

if arranged properly

Page 31: Environment by PC

Pros (Positive things) +Buying Goods will be cheaper for Indians

in International Market

Because this will make Imports cheaper

which is Good for thedeveloping country like us.

Page 32: Environment by PC

Pros (Positive things) +Buying Luxurious Goods will also be cheaper

ExampleiPhone 7 Plus would also cost even less than ₹2,000

Page 33: Environment by PC

But, IT WILL NOT LAST LONG

As time is not fixed Time changes, and so are the things

Page 34: Environment by PC

Cons (Negative things) -Exports will be expensive.

Because Indian products will be expensive in comparison to other competing nations.

And if its expensive then, why any country would buy from us..??

If they can buy fromother countries at lower cost.

Page 35: Environment by PC

Cons (Negative things) -Foreign companies invests in Indiaor we can say that, FDI is attracted by India due to

• Cheaper labour price and,• Availability of raw material at lower prices.

Foreign companies will not invest in Indiaif they can invest in other countries at cheaper price.

Page 36: Environment by PC

Cons (Negative things) -The huge loss will be to the IT and ITES sector,as they contributes major part in GDP of INDIA.

And it will also leads to the loss in employment, along with the unemployment.

As, why someone would pay more price, when theycan get the same type of work from someone else in

much lesser price.

Page 37: Environment by PC

Cons (Negative things) -Unemployment leads to more mental stress, and also leads to the depression.

Acc. to the statistics provided by

WHO (World Health Organization)

about the depression rates of the people,

India stands 5th in the list of the countries

with the depressed population.

Page 38: Environment by PC

List of top 10 Countries with Depressed Population

i. United Statesii. Nepaliii. East Timoriv. Bangladeshv. India

vi. Pakistanvii. Brazilviii. Maldivesix. Bhutanx. Afghanistan

With an alarming rate of more than 1400 of every1,00, 000 citizens being known to suffer from

depression or similar problems.

Page 39: Environment by PC

DEPRESSION - A Major ConcernDepression is one of the priority conditions covered by

‘WHO’s Mental Health Gap Action Programme (mhGAP)’.

The Programme aims to help countriesincrease services for people with mental, neurological disorders.

Page 40: Environment by PC

This is also an example of theEmergence in the Healthcare sector

as well as theEmergence in e-Commerce or the IT sector

As by seeing the need of the people,Few have seen a business in it also,

it has now become a business and also a trend.

A look at the news:

Page 41: Environment by PC

Millennial - A person reaching young adulthood around the year 2000

Page 42: Environment by PC

Is Depression real or virtual.?People are depressed because of various reasons, like money, love and many more.

But if see in terms of realityThey need not to do so...

Because according to the survey of “The Indian Express”

Rise in the income level doesn’t affect the happiness level of any individual until unless there is any type of loss.

And *NO COMMENTS* on the love.

Page 43: Environment by PC

Just few suggestions, if Anyone want

Page 44: Environment by PC

Now taking up the part,

that I have left earlier

Page 45: Environment by PC

Inflation & DemonetizationInflation : Increase or decrease in the price level of goods and

services in an economy over a period of time.

Now a days, due to demonetization of higher currency notes, the value of dollar is fluctuating at a tremendous rate in comparison to the value of rupee.

The fluctuation leads to the rise and downfall of the prices of the goods. As the prices in the international markets varies a lot. This also leads to instability.

Page 46: Environment by PC

Inflation & DemonetizationSimilar situation happens in 2007-2008, when Rupee was quiet stronger in comparison to the dollar.Only the Imports were good, and nothing else...

It is neither beneficial nor affordable for the developing country like ours.

Also, Indian government don’t want the situation of 1₹=1$,but wants a stability in this, whether it is at ₹50, ₹60 or ₹70.

Page 47: Environment by PC

Inflation & DemonetizationA question may be,What if we use all the Indian products..?

As it was already till 1990, before FDI.

It will reduce exports because we reduce imports.

It is called as PROTECTIONISM, which is completely opposite to FREE TRADE.

Page 48: Environment by PC

The reason behind the success of China

Japan also suffered a huge economic loss, when their currency was overvalued in 1986.

But what about China..?

China has Fix Rate System, in which government decides the value of their currency, and they devalue their currency against dollar, just to capitalize on the export market.

Page 49: Environment by PC

What Indian Officials want..?

Our Finance Minister and RBI Governor are not worried over the falling Rupee.

They are worried about the fluctuations.

They just want stability first, whether it is at ₹50, ₹60 or ₹70.

Fluctuation is not good for the economy.

Page 50: Environment by PC

Why Indian Government don’t do like China..?

It is because we have adopted Floating Rate System since 1975.

Government or RBI Governor cantdecide the value of the currency.

It is the market supply and the demandof the Rupee that decides the value.

But they can make policies to maintain value of rupee constant by controlling inflation rate, so that currency doesn’t get completely depreciated.

Page 51: Environment by PC

After all this, now what we want..?

As an Indian, we do want our currency to be high valued, but we don’t want this at this cost.

As

It is just a different way to measure value. As 1 mile = 1.6 kmBut if you run 10 miles or 16 km, the distance is the same.

Rupee will get stronger, but its not the right time for that.

Page 52: Environment by PC

ENERGY

Page 53: Environment by PC

What is Energy..?

Energy can exist in a variety of forms, such as electrical, mechanical, chemical, thermal, or nuclear, and can be transformed from one form to another.

“Energy can neither be created, nor be destroyed.”It can only be converted from one form to another.

Page 54: Environment by PC

Energy as an Emerging Sector in India

Energy is one of the major sector which is emerging now a days and also can emerge a lot in near future.

Energy is developing at a major pace. And in order to meet the needs and expectations of the people, it has to continue to do so in the near future.

Page 55: Environment by PC

Types of Energy

The Energy is basically classified into 2 parts: Renewable Sources of Energy That can be used again and again.

Non-Renewable Sources of Energy That can be used only once.

Page 56: Environment by PC

Classification of Energy

Non-Renewable Sources of Energy• Nuclear Energy• Atomic Energy

Renewable Sources of Energy• Hydro Energy• Solar Energy• Wind Energy• Footfall Energy

Page 57: Environment by PC

Nuclear EnergyNuclear energy is energy in the nucleus (core) of an atom. Atoms are tiny particles that make up every object in the universe.

Nuclear Energy is a great source of energy. A small quantity of nuclear substance or radioactive material, can create a large amount of energy.

It is very useful, but, only if handled properly.

Eg. Uranium, Radium.

Page 58: Environment by PC

Atomic EnergyAtomic Energy is a Good source of energy.

Produced through the combination and diffusion of the atomic particles and sometime compounds.

This Energy is sub part of the Nuclear Energy.

In general term, both are nearly same.

Page 59: Environment by PC

Nuclear Power PlantNuclear Power Plant or Atomic Power Plant, both are one and the same things.

There is simply a difference in the type of reaction. In making of bomb, it creates a difference.

An A-bomb uses fission, breaking large nuclei into smaller ones to release energy.

An H-bomb uses fusion, combining small nuclei into larger ones to release energy.

Page 60: Environment by PC

Nuclear EnergyThe development of this type of energy is always a major concern for the government, as it provides a larger amount of energy but on the other side can be easily misused.

FDI in this sector is totally prohibited, due to security concerns.

The working in this is regulated byDAE – Department of Atomic Energy And working companies areNPCIL – Nuclear Power Corporation of India LimitedBHAVINI – Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Limited

Page 61: Environment by PC

NSG (Nuclear Suppliers Group)India tries to become a part of NSG. But due to certain circumstances, it was unable to do so.

Joining the NSG will give India better access to low-cost, clean nuclear energy and with the better and advance technology.

If India becomes part of this, it will help in taking up this sector to the next level.

Page 62: Environment by PC

Development in Nuclear PowerIndia has also started working on Third Stage of Indian Nuclear Power Programme.

In this the scientists are planning to use Thorium as the main component instead of Uranium.

As Thorium is found in abundance in nature as compared to that of Uranium, and has superior physical and nuclear characteristics.

Page 63: Environment by PC

Footfall EnergyThis is the new type of energy, that is discovered by an engineer named Mandar Tulankar, of Nagpur.

He has developed a flooring system in which pressure exerted by a person walking on the floor helps generate electricity. One footstep or footfall generates about 10W of energy. It is an ideal solution for high footfall areas like railway stations, airports, malls, offices and apartment blocks. The first ‘energy floors’ was installed at Nagpur Railway Station. The company, Zero Point Energy Pvt Ltd, will manufacture these floors for Energy Floors.

INFORMATION

TECHNOLOGY

Page 65: Environment by PC

If its important for you, you will find a way,If its not, then you will find an excuse

Necessity is the mother of invention

These 2 statements are the basics of the development of this sector.

Page 66: Environment by PC

IT (Information Technology)

The technology is getting advanced day by day.

If you buy some technical gadget today, it will be replaced by something latest by tomorrow.

The advancement in the technology is good for the country, but upto what extent.?

Page 67: Environment by PC

IT (Information Technology)India, in IT sector, is one among those places in which foreign investors wants to invest.

Because of the skills of the human resources present.

And also because of the cheap availability of labour and other material.

Page 68: Environment by PC

Technology : Good or Bad..?Everyone knows that India have become a technical hub, but with the advancement in the technology, the security issues increases.(All the information is available on internet, but the condition is one must know how to access it)

If technology is increased by 10%, then the security threats increases by 20%.

And security is the major concern for the government.

Page 69: Environment by PC

Something Unknown...Internet is that much dangerous that you cant even think of it.

All of You must have listened that,“Little Knowledge is dangerous for health.”

But in internet, how much this statement is true, you can’t even imagine about it.

Thousands of people die every year, who don’t know how to use the internet properly.

Page 70: Environment by PC

Google Translate for AnimalsGoogle translate was good source for translating from one

But Google had just moved one step forward, by developing a program to translate the animal language into the language,

which a human can understand.

Advancement...

Page 72: Environment by PC

E-Commerce and Information technology are inter-related to each other, either directly or indirectly.

In this, I will be discussing somefacts only.

As, the result of demonetization, some of the e-commerce websites faces loss, just for one instant, while some of them had faced a huge profit.

Page 73: Environment by PC
Page 74: Environment by PC

E-CommerceThose, who faces one time loss is in those orders that are already out for deliveries, and whose payment are to be made in Cash on delivery. Those were to be stopped because of unavailability of cash with the buyers.

But on the other side, some of the websites have gained a huge profit.Like Paytm. Also they have advertised in the newspaper in their own way

Security Concerns

The main concern for the security is Knowledge.

The reality isYou have seen only 1% and knows about maximum of 15%.

Then how you can be secured from those who are already using the remaining 85%..?

And one more important concept that is left is of Virtual Currency.Government is planning to move towards virtual currency.

But in the country like India, at this point of time, it is nearly impossible.

Because everyone in the country doesn’t have an access to the internet.

In the country like France if the decision of virtual currency came, then it can be right, but not in the country like India.

As in France, the access to the internet is added in the basic human right.
