Pleasure Network

The Stream Media Server system comprises one

or more ContentCentre media storage servers

connected via Ethernet to one or more

ContentPlayer media players (and MicroPlayers)

around the home.

ContentCentre stores BDs, DVDs, music and

pictures and delivers this content to

ContentPlayers connected locally to AV systems.

Equipped with gigabit networking capability, the

ContentCentre appears as simple NAS-style

network shares of music, movies, TV shows and

pictures on screens or touch tablets. Drag files to

the folders from other NAS on the network, or

stream media from the ContentCentre to one or

more players.

The design of the Stream system allows for

playback of different media per room with

different audio soundtracks if required. For

instance the ContentPlayer can automatically

down-mix multichannel audio soundtracks for

two-channel audio playback devices (e.g. Smart

TVs). Another can be installed for dedicated

multichannel FullHD audio and video playback in

a home cinema, while a third can be connected to

an audio distribution system to provide stereo

music in other areas in the home. Yes, the

Stream system will integrate easily with a range

of home control/distribution systems and offers

AirPlay and Sonos compatibility – we did say

Easy in-room control

Local control over what to watch is through a

new optional remote, which has a keyboard and

trackpad to help you navigate, rename and

search your media by genre, title, actor for

instance, through a window that automatically

appears on the TV or projection screen.

There’s a comprehensive choice of menu views

including YouTube preview links for each film,

and a wide range of audio and video calibration

tools, which offer useful functionality such as the

memorising of resume points for every stored

movie, and audio offset for the perfect syncing of

sound and picture. Your entertainment can be

managed as well via iOS and Android

devices through apps like XBMC

Constellation and XBMC remote.

The Server Comes of Age

The Stream system offers greater flexibility and

faster storage than its only major rival. It offers

excellent storage capacity (up to 12TB),

extraordinary ripping speed (a BD can be

captured in as little as 35mins), simultaneous rip

and play, and simultaneous multiple playback of

movie and music streams - video up to and

beyond 1080p/24, two-channel audio to 24/192

and multi-channel DTS HD - to players around

the home.

During capture the ContentCentre automatically

identifies the main content on the disc and

discards adverts, trailers and junk, saving space

and time. TV shows are automatically stored in a

separate folder which can be easily accessed

from the ContentPlayer TV Shows menu.

Captured movies and TV shows are contained in

lossless .mkv format, which preserves all their

HD video and audio integrity – even subtitles.

Music is stored in uncompressed FLAC format,

which is not only highly compatible and space-

conscious, it also supports advanced media

tagging and high bitrates unavailable from other

lossless formats. By implementing FLAC, the

ContentCentre even has support for the capture

of media from higher resolution DVD Audio discs.

What’s more, a handy mobile feature creates

versions of movies, TV shows and music ready

for use on mobile devices in compatible MP4

format.

MicroPlayer

An alternative to the ContentPlayer, the MicroPlayer is

a handy network player for use where there is a

screen but no AV system (in kitchens, bedrooms etc).

As its name suggests MicroPlayer is tiny (97mm x

65mm x 26mm) and easy to hide - and it can be

powered via USB on a TV to save finding a mains

socket. It performs in exactly the same way as the

ContentPlayer, and although it doesn’t offer Gigabit

networking capacity for HD 7.1 channel home cinema

audio formats, it still has Stream’s intuitive interface

for quick access to all your content for enjoyment on a

smaller scale. Outside the Stream network, play direct

from your tablet or smartphone through an optional

Nano WiFi adaptor.
