Entrepreneurship Management Case Study Pratik Dhawan, Alok Jain and Natasha D’souza are final year students of MMS. They have a good academic record. In fact, Pratik is a class representative, Alok is a go getter and Natasha is a genius with Finance and IT. They were part of the team which was responsible in making a B-School fest, “SYNERGY” a great success. While Alok was instrumental in getting a big sponsorship for the fest from a reputed Multinational Corporation, Pratik saw to it that most of the B-Schools in Mumbai participate in the fest. Natasha was the program head and also looked after budgets and expenditures. They are not coming from business families. They are quick learners. Pratik, Alok and Natasha were very clear after they complete their studies, they do not want to work for anybody. They have a strong urge to set up their own business and make lot of money. They could observe that building construction offered great opportunities to fulfill their dream. Even though the industry suffered through periodic recession, the profit margins were very attractive, as high as 50 per cent or more. The city of Nasik, from where they hail from, is growing very fast. Nearness to Mumbai, good weather and availability of infrastructure attracts large number of persons as well as institutions to this area. The former includes NRIs and the later corporate houses from Mumbai. They feel that they can join hands and start their company with the name “Sunrise Builders”. Their parents have agreed to give them a loan of Rs 25 lakhs each to start the business. It does not deter them that they do not have any experience and certainly none in building construction industry. They feel that enough expertise is available on hire with which they could start that business.
