In reflecting on the past few months, I’d like to thank you for your patience and efforts as our priorities evolve and adapt to market changes. “Growing Together” was the theme of our State of the Union events, and that’s not by accident. Growth will continue to be top of mind in the next quarter and throughout the year.

At State of the Union, we mentioned we are especially focused on employee development in 2014. Human Resources is leading a new initiative we’re calling our Cultural Beliefs Series. HR will actively coach you on our Cultural Beliefs, and in doing so, help you grow as an employee. I encourage you to take every advantage of these development opportunities. You can read more on page 9.

We also announced that Cassling is expanding its Siemens’ sales territories to the south and the west. This is incredibly exciting and showcases our ability to increase Siemens’ market share and meet our customers’ needs.

Ensocare has several initiatives in place to accelerate our growth strategy. New team members are being added to the product, sales and call center teams to help us continue our gold standard of customer service and sales support. Also, we continue to look for partners

to help sell our solution, and have recently partnered with software firm Recondo Technology.

In addition, as previously announced, Encounter Telepsychiatry is closing. This was not an easy decision to make, as we were able to help a number of patients over the past year and make an impact on their quality of care. However, we determined that the reimbursement available was simply not enough to meet our revenue goals. This was a great learning opportunity and we thank everyone who was involved and lent a helping a hand.

During all of these changes, I want to remind you that each employee is an essential part of our organization and culture. We are one team and must continue to build on our areas of strength and be nimble during times of change. If you have questions about our companies’ growth, please contact me directly, anonymously through 360 or you may reach out to any member of the management team. Thank you again for your time, dedication and involvement.

CQuence Cares was founded on a sense of community—that together, we are stronger than we are as individuals. That is the spirit in which our company came together to help struggling families put food on the table during our State of the Union Food Drive.

This year, we were stronger than ever. With all territories combined, we collected more than 600 food items and $1,200 in monetary donations. Your donations added up to 4,000 cans of food! CQuence Cares thanks you and your family for your generosity.

Each year we track overall satisfaction as a way to measure improvement year-over-year. In 2014, nearly 93 percent of employees were satisfied or highly satisfied with the overall event. The average satisfaction was 4.55 on a 5.0 scale. We will continue to incorporate your feedback to keep improving this annual event.

Cassling remote employees in the state of Kansas (top) and York, Neb., (bottom) enjoy dinner and discussion during the 2014 Sate of the Union presentations.

Each State of the Union event had an interactive poll. Here's how you responded.

Q&AKathy Sullivan, CQuence Health Group Vice President of Marketing

What attracted you to our company? A recruiter reached out to me and painted a good picture of CQuence, but I wasn’t sure. So I used my LinkedIn network to find people who knew the CQuence executives. I heard “honest, nice, ethical, progressive, eager to grow, great company to work for, and you will love working with them.” After four months, I find all of that is true.

How do you help CQuence in your role? Marketing is a CQuence service that is shared with the partner companies. It provides access to a team of strategic, creative marketing professionals that each business would not otherwise be able to afford. The businesses can tap into an agency right here in-house.

What do you like to do in your free time? Travel. I had the pleasure of taking the family to Ireland two years ago. Last year we went to Colorado to hot air balloon and enjoy other great adventures. This year we will visit my daughter at the University of Oxford in England.

Luis Castillo, CQuence Health Group Vice President

What attracted you to our company? My relationship with Mike Cassling and his reputation in the industry.

How do you help CQuence in your role? Years of experience in health care—coupled with my knowledge of IT research and development, product management, sales, professional services and my work with mergers and acquisitions—make me well-suited to support and contribute to CQuence.

What do you like to do in your free time? Read, read, read…

Wendy Harrison, CQuence Health Group Internal Communications Specialist

What attracted you to our company? When I worked at the Midlands Business Journal, I wrote an article on Cassling. I was impressed with management and the company’s culture. When I saw this position posted on LinkedIn, I researched CQuence and was excited that Cassling was a part of its family. Once I interviewed, I was even more impressed because I could tell the marketing team truly enjoys working here. The customer- and employee-focused culture really came through.

How do you help CQuence in your role? I communicate and promote important information to employees and families across the companies, including information about wellness, HR programs, community service projects and events. I also help organize programs, including CQuence University, CQuence Cares and special events.

What do you like to do in your free time? Spend time with my family, including our two-year-old son. My husband and I love to go to movies. If it’s got great reviews, we usually see it. I also love to bike, weather and time permitting.

We are a few weeks into our latest wellness incentive campaign, Captain Cassling’s Nutrition. Fitness. Lifestyle. (NFL) Incentive. During the four quarters of NFL, players (aka wellness participants) move down the field to score a touchdown by eating whole grains, being physically active and getting adequate sleep.

The Captain is ready to cheer you on to a touchdown, so talk to any member of the Wellness Committee if you would still like to get involved, or if you have questions.

EXPANDING EXCELLENCE INTO NEW TERRITORIESCassling’s traditional territory includes Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, North Dakota, South Dakota and portions of Illinois and Missouri. Last year, Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana were added as sales territories, along with five account executives. With the expansion to the south, Cassling added Mississippi, Kentucky, Arkansas, the rest of Missouri and portions of Tennessee.

Additionally, Cassling is expanding to the west, which includes all Western states except Alaska and Hawaii.

Account executives are coming on board to cover these new states, with the first position filled by 28-year veteran Gene Wendt as an account executive. He will now be based in Phoenix, Ariz. Five more account executives and a sales director will be hired in the next 60 days, with the goal to fill 10 account executive positions by the end of October.

This expansion will drive account coverage into areas of the market that Siemens hasn’t strategically staffed. The initial strategy in the new territory will focus on

sales into small and mid-sized hospitals, imaging centers and physician practices. Siemens acknowledges that there is a lot of valuable business in these states that Cassling will grow.

For the time being, Siemens will handle equipment service and project management. Because these services are a major factor in our company’s success and help differentiate us from our competitors, Krzyzanowski said Cassling will continue to discuss options for a service model with Siemens.

This growth is a true example of how we are Expanding Excellence and Growing Together.

At State of the Union, you learned that Cassling’s territory continues to grow. This exciting expansion exemplifies each employee’s dedication to serving our customers and supporting our co-workers.

“Cassling is well equipped to handle the expansion,” said Executive Vice President and General Manager Tim Krzyzanowski. “Our market share within the traditional territory is continually one of the highest within all of the Siemens territories, so it is a natural fit to expand our model to other parts of the country.”

THREE INITIATIVES IN PLACE TO ACCELERATE GROWTHEnsocare has set aggressive goals for 2014 with equally aggressive plans to support those goals. One aspect of our plan is to position Ensocare executives as thought leaders in the industry. Wayne Sensor, Ensocare CEO, recently spoke at the Southern California Readmissions Summit, discussing how technology can help hospitals reduce avoidable readmissions. With more than 300 attendees, it underscores the important challenge hospitals face to reduce readmissions in order to improve patient care quality and avoid financial penalty. Wayne commented, “Southern California health-care leadership really understands the significance of these issues and is working toward solutions.”

Another strategy is to gain exposure for the Ensocare brand and its executives through extensive public relations efforts. We have partnered with Dodge Communications, a health-care PR firm based in Georgia. They developed a story that will be featured in Becker’s Hospital Review and highlights readmission reduction

efforts at our research partner hospital, University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Look for a second article in Executive Insight discussing transitions of care best practices that can help hospitals reduce preventable readmissions.

Lead generation is at the heart of Ensocare’s efforts, and our partnership with industry-leader West Corporation is testament to that commitment. West will cultivate qualified leads for our sales team while shortening the sales cycle – making calls to chief nursing officers at hospitals throughout the country, evaluating the opportunity and passing off the lead to our sales directors. “We’re lucky to have West open the door and start conversations with prospects who know they have a problem but aren’t yet aware there is a solution like Ensocare,” said Luis Castillo, CQuence Health Group vice president.

GARDENING SEED PLANTED AT YOUNG AGE Cassling Sales Coordinator Tammy Nelson grew up helping in the family garden. Some of her first memories are pitching in to pull weeds. It was a job she dreaded at the time, but years later left a lasting impression. After getting married and settling into a house, Tammy said planting a garden was simply the next step. “There was never a question of not having a garden, it was just a matter of where to put it.”

On their acreage in Gretna, Tammy and her husband plant more than a dozen different vegetables and herbs, from cucumbers and tomatoes to beets and horseradish. She describes the garden as medium size

– six railroad ties by five railroad ties.

As a young girl, Shelly Welchert, Cassling customer care returns coordinator, bonded with her grandfather while gardening. “We never had enough peas for meals because he would let us eat them while we picked,” Shelly recalls. In exchange for pulling weeds, her grandfather taught her all about caring for a garden and canning vegetables. Since then, Shelly has had a garden every place she’s been able to accommodate one.

Shelly and her husband, Leo, live in Fort Calhoun, Neb., where they share gardening responsibilities. Leo preps the garden and Shelly handles the picking and watering, although she admits to getting help from her dog, Pudge, who likes to play in the water and eat the vegetables straight from the garden.

The Welchert’s garden started as a 30-by-100 foot area with green beans, tomatoes, potatoes, broccoli and cabbage. It quickly expanded to include zucchini, asparagus, onions, green peppers, habañero peppers, green beans, sweet corn, cauliflower and half an acre of potatoes.

PESTS AND PERKS OF GARDENINGDespite some challenges, such as keeping deer out of the garden and keeping up with watering, Tammy says it’s worth not having to think about a trip to the grocery store when prepping for dinner. “From July to the first freeze, three quarters of our meals come from our garden,” Tammy said. “There’s nothing better to me than fresh tomatoes and cucumbers – those are the best.”

Meals at the Welchert household revolve around what’s available in the garden, too. According to Shelly, convenience and knowing what goes into the food are advantages of gardening. “You can’t beat the flavor, and at dinner time, I just walk out the back door and there it is!”

Shelly admits it can be overwhelming at times. “You can’t wait for the season to get here and then, all of a sudden, you’re burned out.”

When the Welcherts can’t eat enough of or get bored with a vegetable, they share the fruit (or in this case, vegetables) of their labor with family and friends. Lucky for the Omaha office employees, some of those vegetables find their way to the break room.

EMPLOYEES SPILL THE BEANS ON GARDENINGEMPLOYEES SPILL THE BEANS ON GARDENING

In early spring, while some employees are eager to play ball or go for a bike ride, others are anxious to get busy in their gardens. Then spring shifts into high gear and “to-dos” start sprouting up like dandelions. Does that mean you have to give up your garden plans? No, just take it from our green-thumbed employees, who share their passion, challenges and tips to make gardening a breeze.

As a young girl, Shelly Welchert, Cassling customer care returns coordinator, bonded with her grandfather while gardening. “We never had enough peas for meals because he would let us eat them while we picked,” Shelly recalls.

TIPS AND RECIPESFor those without a lot of space, Tammy recommends planting in pots. She says roma or cherry tomatoes are a good place to start. For those with established gardens, she suggests rotating vegetables to different

spots in the garden from year to year. Finally, Shelly says not to be afraid of trying. “Just dig a spot in the ground, throw in a seed and watch it grow.”

DELISH VEGETABLE LASAGNARecipe from Shelly Welchert

» 4-5 large zucchinis » 4-5 tomatoes sliced » 1 lb. uncooked bacon » 2 cups of mozzarella cheese » 2 cups of parmesan cheese » Minced garlic (Shelly recommends 1 tsp per layer)

Slice zucchini in chips (like hamburger pickles). Layer zucchini, tomato slices and uncooked bacon slices. Next, sprinkle mozzarella, parmesan and minced garlic. Continue process for three to four layers. Add some parsley on the top layer and bake at 350° for 45 to 60 minutes.

GARDEN FRESH SALSARecipe from Tammy Nelson

» 4 tomatoes, seeded and chopped » 8 green onions, chopped » 2 small cans chopped green chilies » 2 tbsp cilantro, chopped » ¾ can black olives, chopped » 2 tsp garlic salt » 3 tbsp olive or canola oil » 3 tbsp vinegar

Mix all ingredients together and refrigerate. This can be served immediately, but is best when made ahead and refrigerated for a few hours to give the salsa an even better flavor.

During the summer, the green chilies are substituted with a variety of peppers from the garden such as banana, bell, anaheim, jalapeño and cayenne. Each batch has its own flavor and heat index, depending on which types of peppers and amount are used.

Gardening is a family event for Cassling Customer Care Returns Coordinator Shelly Welchert. While Shelly’s typical gardening companions are her husband, Leo, and their dog, Pudge, she occasionally gets help from friends like little Noah, pictured here.

Stepping

Better Health

Go glidewalking. You can perfect your walking technique and get buns of steel through glidewalking. It also helps you step lighter, which makes your joints feel better and create muscle mass to help you lose weight. Here’s how. Stand with your feet hip-width apart. Step forward with your right foot, contracting the muscles of your left buttock to help propel you forward. Just before your right foot hits the ground, squeeze your left buttock muscles more to help place the foot gently on the ground. Once the foot lands, relax the left buttock muscles and repeat on the other side.

Strike a pose. Add yoga to your walks to burn calories, strengthen your core, prevent joint injuries and become more flexible. That’s the premise of hiking yoga classes, which integrate 30 minutes of yoga with 60 minutes of hiking. To learn more or locate classes, visit www.hikingyoga.com.

Step to the beat. Numerous studies have found that exercising to music can help you work out longer and in some cases, harder. Download the application “iSWEAT2thebeat” to your smartphone for some real fun. The app, which costs 99¢, asks your music preferences and then draws from a database of more than 70,000 songs to find other songs with a similar feel and beat per minute.

HOW DO YOU GET MORE STEPS IN YOUR DAY?

With spring upon us, taking a walk outside is a convenient workout option. The trouble is, it can be hard to get out and move after a long winter. Here are three ways to get excited about walking again:

“I get my steps in by working out for my family and future family. My wife and I have our first child on the way and I want to be able to keep up with them and be there for them throughout their life. That’s my motivation to work out almost every day.”

- Andrew Maas, customer support specialist, Ensocare

“Two things I try to do are park farther away in parking lots and get up and have face-to-face discussions with my co-workers instead of using my phone or email. It adds to your steps and the in-person contact is better for your working relationships.”

- Jennifer White, service and billing analyst, Cassling

“When I’m on a lengthy call at work, I pace in and around my desk. I also walk all the way to the break room for water rather than using the nearby water cooler to gain a few more steps throughout the day.”

- Stephanie Andersen, customer support specialist, Ensocare

via Our Cultural Beliefs

Blog Post 1: Let’s Do This

DEVELOPING YOUA crucial function of Human Resources is to ensure that CQuence Health Group’s strategic objectives are met, which includes helping employees thrive as they contribute to our Key Results: Growth, Profit, Customer Service, Accountability and Employee Development.

During State of the Union, you heard that Employee Development is a top priority in 2014.

Like other departments across CQuence, your HR team also is a strong supporter of our Cultural Beliefs to Speak Up, Expand Excellence, Get Clear, Learn from It, Grow Together and Act Now.

HR has made a commitment to help you understand the Beliefs, and in doing so, develop as an employee. In honor of that commitment, we bring you the Cultural Beliefs Series—a new 360 blog with tips from HR on living the Cultural Beliefs every day.

The blog is just one component of an ongoing endeavor for each employee at any stage in their career and in any partner company.

After all, we strive to have a culture of Accountability —one that sets us apart. So let’s live and breathe that culture.

Our first Cultural Belief is Speak Up. If you’ve met me, you know I can chat your ear off. So this comes naturally to me!

What does Speak Up mean?It means you should seek and provide feedback to drive personal and company success. If you visit the 360 Accountability page that lists our beliefs, you’ll hear Mike discuss what each one means. He says that Speak Up is one of the most important. Seeking and providing feedback are critical to knowing what you’re doing well and where you can improve.

CQuence is committed to providing resources to increase your efficiency, impact and even innovation…so speak up! Both your manager and HR can coach you through a challenging situation…so speak up! You are truly a customer of both management and HR…so again, speak up!

I’ll blog about how we can support you in the remaining beliefs soon. But don’t forget, this is a conversation. I encourage you to stop by my office, email me at [email protected] or call me at 402-334-5000, ext. 1137. You can also talk to Kayla Engel or Melanie Henderson in HR, and of course, your manager.

Please take advantage of our commitment. In addition to helping you develop, it will help the CQuence family grow, too.

I look forward to more conversation on the 360 blog!

10 Impact | Spring 2014

Page 11: Ensocare Impact Spring 2014

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) protects the privacy of patient health information (PHI). This includes information in medical records, conversations regarding medical treatment and billing information related to a patient’s health. New changes to the law greatly enhance a patient’s privacy protections, provide individuals new rights to their health information and strengthen the government’s ability to enforce the law.

HIPAA rules have long focused on health-care providers, health plans and other “covered entities” that process health insurance claims. The new changes expand many of the requirements to business associates of these entities that receive protected health information, such as contractors and subcontractors.

A “business associate” is a person or entity that performs certain functions or activities that involve the use or disclosure of PHI (either directly, indirectly, physically or virtually) on behalf of a covered entity. Cassling and Ensocare are each business associates and enter into business associate agreements with their customers and subcontractors to ensure PHI is protected.

HIPAA violations are nothing to scoff at. A HIPAA breach means access, acquisition, use or disclosure of PHI not permitted under HIPAA that compromises the security or privacy of the PHI. These days, the fine for willful neglect cases can grow as large as $1.5 million for each violation. As such, covered entities and their business associates are feeling the pressure to prevent noncompliance.

In order to stay out of trouble, you must first understand which mistakes to avoid.

Inappropriate Uses of PHI • Viewing medical information belonging to your

family, friends, co-workers or patients when you are not a member of the health team treating the patient.

• Informing a friend of a patient’s presence at the hospital.

• Discussion of PHI in a public location where others are likely to overhear, such as an elevator or the cafeteria.

• Improper disposal or loss of PHI.

• Purposefully emailing or faxing patient information to the wrong address or number. Inadvertent or accidental disclosure—while not appropriate—can also result in penalties.

Real-life Examples of Non-compliant HIPAA Practices

• Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee agreed to pay $1.5 million to settle HIPAA violations after 57 unencrypted computer hard drives containing PHI for more than 1 million individuals were stolen from a leased facility.

• Phoenix Cardiac Surgery, P.C., of Phoenix and Prescott, Ariz., paid a $100,000 settlement to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for posting clinical and surgical appointments for their patients on an Internet-based calendar that was publicly accessible.

• Affinity Health Plan, Inc. paid $1.2 million for impermissibly disclosing PHI for 344,000 individuals when it returned multiple photocopiers to a leasing agent without erasing the data contained on the copier hard drives.

Real Life Examples of HIPAA Horror Stories
