We are located on Odessa Avenue, Keilor Downs, away from busy main roads and adjacent to the Green Gully Reserve.
The area is well serviced by public transport and designated walking and bike paths.

We have a large number of student applications.
We encourage prospective parents and students to participate in the Open Day, college tours and our transition programs.
Applicants for Year 7 enrolment must complete a Secondary School Selection form. For government school students this is available from your Primary School. The completed form should be returned to your Primary School for processing.
For students from non-government schools, a Secondary School Selection form can be obtained from our General O�ce and should be returned directly to Keilor Downs College. Students successful in their enrolment application will be notified by mail.
Applicants for enrolment at other year levels should obtain an Enrolment Inquiry form from the College General O�ce.
Parents should note that there is an annual Essential Education Items charge. This covers the provision of class materials, software programs, reference materials and activities applicable to their child’s course of study. This charge also includes compulsory events such as the annual swimming and athletics carnivals.
Our personalised computer program provides a learning device for every student to support their curriculum access.
There may also be charges for additional excursions or activities and parents will be notified in advance of these costs.
The college also encourages parents to make a Voluntary Contribution to support improvements to College facilities. Many of our specialist facilities have been funded in this manner.

From their first day, students are embraced in a supportive and secure learning environment that ensures they feel connected to the school.
It is a priority that students and teachers are given every
opportunity to get to know one another and develop long-term
relationships that support our students during their time at
the college.
A strength of the college is our ‘House’ structure with students
assigned to one of four Houses.
This gives students a stronger identity and sense of belonging with
access to a range of leadership and community service programs.
A key aspect of the ‘House’ structure is the allocation of a ‘Home
Group’ teacher from Year 7 to Year 12.
Students who need extra support in the classroom have access to
homework assistance in English and Maths.
If the need arises, the college has Student Wellbeing Counsellors, a
Health Promotion Nurse, a Language Support program supported
by a Speech Pathologist and Department of Education visiting
Psychologists and Social Workers.
A full time coordinator manages support for students with special
needs and disabilities (PSD), with Integration Aides assigned to
classes to provide extra support to enhance learning.

individual talentsStudents participate actively in the annual Arts and Technology showcase and Music and Performing Arts programs include regular public concerts and theatre productions.
Our students excel in debating and regularly gain national honors
in Mathematics and Science.
We are proud of our sporting achievement, with a record of success
at zone and state level. We have a specific emphasis on soccer and
also achieve highly in athletics, swimming, table tennis, badminton,
volleyball and many others.
Our language programs are enhanced by cultural exchange and
our sister school program with Shiori district schools in Japan, has
existed for over 20 years.
Extracurricular competitions and programs include:
• State and National competitions in Science and Mathematics
• Student leadership, debating and public speaking.
There are numerous opportunities to gain leadership skills.
Students can apply for appointment to a representative group
called Students Making a Di�erence (SMAD). This group consists of
House and Year level Captains as well as Student Ambassadors for
Music, Sport, Debating and other key areas. SMAD is the driving
force for a range of student-led community initiatives, addressing
local and global concerns.

A broad range of learning skills builds independence, learning confidence and positive attitudes in Years 7 and 8.
The transition from primary to secondary school is a vital step in a
child’s education. A smooth transition helps to develop a solid
foundation for learning.
We place Year 7 students at the centre and work to ensure that
they feel connected and have opportunities to develop
self-confidence and leadership.
Students are allocated to one of four ‘Houses’ and are in the direct
personal care of a Home Group teacher. Each home group teacher
stays with the same group as they move through the year levels of
secondary school. They gain a deep understanding of each
student’s learning needs and styles, which helps students to
achieve to their highest potential.
A solid academic foundation is established with a focus on
literacy, numeracy and core studies in:
• English • Humanities • Languages
• Maths • Physical Education and Sport
• Science • Arts and Technology.
Year 7 Pastoral Care includes a home group program, orientation
camps and peer mentoring support from senior students.
Year 7 students are located in a specific precinct and are allocated
a specific Home Group room. Core subjects are timetabled in
students' Home Group rooms and students are taught by a limited
number of teachers.
If a student needs extra assistance with their learning, the college
provides a range of specific and sensitive support programs.

scholarshipsThe College recognises student achievement in a variety of areas and ways.
There are numerous scholarships for leadership, general academic
achievement, arts, music, technology, applied learning, sport and
community service.
Each year, 'William Turner Scholarships' are o�ered to outstanding
Grade 6 students enrolling at Keilor Downs College for the
following year.
A number of SEAL scholarships are available for students who
successfully gain Year 9 entry to our Select Entry Accelerated
Learning program.

Select Entry Accelerated Learning ProgramOur SEAL program o�ers gifted students a DEECD approved and accredited course of advanced learning. For more than a decade, this highly regarded program has delivered excellent outcomes for our gifted students.
To meet the high demand, we o�er two SEAL classes at each year level, with annual intakes for Year 7 and Year 9.

At Year 9, students are looking for a greater level of engagement and opportunities to develop their personal skills and interests.
Students are provided with opportunities to become independent
learners who can use their initiative to develop greater
responsibility for their own learning.
Students are encouraged to look beyond their immediate

with their community.
The college provides elective choices that integrate the core
curriculum with research and applied learning outside the
school campus.
Students work on inquiry-based projects in RAPPs (Research and
Presentation Projects) that nurture the mind, foster individuality
and enable students to set and meet goals. A specific flexible
learning centre is dedicated to this program.

Pursuing avenues that connect Year 11 and 12 studies with their
aspirations and personal goals helps students’ motivation which
provides purpose to their studies.
Course counselling is tailored to student needs and includes
Managed Individual Pathways (MIPs) planning which provides
students with career and pathways guidance.
In addition to the core subjects of English and Maths, a
choice-based elective program provides pathways to the Victorian
Certificate of Education (VCE), the Victorian Certificate of Applied
Learning (VCAL) and Vocational Education and Training (VET).
Students also undertake work experience, which builds a greater
understanding of the link between senior studies and post
college aspirations.
A Year 10 certificate course (10CC) provides students with an
applied learning pathway leading to a VCAL course of study.
Higher achieving students can fast track their VCE studies through
an accelerated access program.

To maximise their study time, a Senior Study Centre, common room and outdoor learning area o�er a variety of environments that are conducive to self-directed learning for Year 12 students.

The college is sensitive to the challenges of the senior years. As
young adults, our senior students align their studies with their
personal aspirations and goals. We provide special programs of
academic and personal support including study camps, educational
workshops and exam preparation.
Collaborative partnerships between sta�, students and their families
are strengthened as students are supported in their transition
towards tertiary education, further training or employment.
We o�er one of the largest selections of Victorian Certificate of
Education (VCE) subjects which provide access to an array of
University and TAFE courses.
Our Year 12 teachers are our strength. Our senior students
consistently achieve excellent results in VCE, VCAL and VET and
our completion rates are outstanding.
On average, over 98% of students who apply to University or TAFE,
receive a first round o�er. A growing number of students achieve
ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) scores over 80, placing
them in the top 20% of all students in Australia.
For students seeking TAFE or employment outcomes, we provide a
variety of programs. This includes the Victorian Certificate of
Applied Learning (VCAL) and Vocational Education and Training
(VET). Work placements also help students plan their pathway to
specific careers and skilled employment.
