Explanation of Enrollment Data:
1. The Fall Census 2011 date is September, 3, 2011. Data included in this report is information captured from
the Banner System Tables.
2. Percent Change (also % difference) in this report is the measure of change from Fall Census 2010 to Fall Census 2011 as a percentage. Caution: When considering % change it is important to note that increases or decreases in categories with low numbers will result in a high percentage change.
3. Due to rounding, some graphs may not equal 100%.
4. Urban Education students are included in Main Campus. 5. Colorado School of Public Health students are not included in this summary. 6. Funding Summary:
a. Headcount: Students counted in Extended Campus have only cash funded courses
b. Credit Hours: Main Campus and Extended Campus credit hours are determined by the accounting code assigned to the course.
7. Undergraduate definition of Part time and Full time students: a. Part‐time: students enrolled for less than 12 credit hours b. Full‐time: students enrolled for 12 credit hours or more
8. Graduate definition of Part time and Full time students: a. Part‐time: students enrolled for less than 9 credit hours b. Full‐time: students enrolled for 9 or more credit hours
9. Race/Ethnicity Categories are new and adhere to the new reporting standards as mandated by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB). http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/fedreg_notice_15
10. First generation is defined as a student who reported that neither parent/guardian graduated from a four-year college. Students that did not report are classified as non-first generation.
11. Low income student is a student who is Pell Grant eligible. Statistics in this report reflect those students who were offered a Pell Grant greater than zero.
12. The Graduate Unclassified Classification is students who are attending but have not yet been accepted into a Masters or Doctorate program or are non-degree seeking students.
13. Non-Degree seeking graduate students are included in the Graduate School enrollment.

Executive Summary
Headcount by Classification (Page 5)
The total university Fall Census headcount of 12,599 is up by 241 students which is a 2% increase from Fall Census 2010.
Undergraduate had a 1.4% increase from Fall Census 2010 while graduate student headcount rose by 4.4%.
Undergraduate sophomores decreased 4.7% (103 students) from Fall Census 2010.
Freshmen classification is 32.4% of the undergraduate population.
Graduate doctoral headcount increased by 33 students or 6.7% and unclassified graduate students increased by approximately the same number of students (34).
The number of graduate masters students remained fairly constant with a 0.5% or 7 student increase.
60% (1,415 of 2,368) of graduate students are pursuing a Masters degree. Credit Hours by Classification (Page 6)
The student credit hour grand total is 156,438, a 0.9% increase from Fall Census 2010.
The majority (87.3%) of the total student credit hours are resident (136,598 of 156,438); 89% of undergraduate credit hours are resident and 76% of graduate credit hours are resident.
Undergraduate headcount (see Table Headcount by Classification) increased by 1.4% generating a 1.3% increase in credit hours.
While the graduate headcount increased (4.4%) the total credit hours decreased (-1.7%) from Fall Census 2010.
Funding Summary Headcount (Page 7)
Undergraduate headcount for students with only extended campus courses rose by 15.6% (46) from Fall Census 2010.
Graduate Extended Campus headcount increased from 743 (Fall Census 2010) to 930 (25.2%).
Overall students with only Extended Campus courses increased 22.4% which constitutes 10% of the student population.
Funding Summary Credit Hours (Page 8)
Compared to Fall Census 2010, total Extended Campus credit hours increased 4.7%, an increase of 7.3% in undergraduate Extended Campus credit hours and a increase of 3.4% in graduate Extended Campus credit hours.
The total Main Campus credit hours rose by 0.7% over Fall Census 2010.
Main Campus credit hours (145,470) are 93.9% of the total (154,968).
Course Load Summary (Page 9)
The undergraduate full-time and part-time breakdown % change has remained constant from Fall Census 2010. The percentage of graduates that are full time has decreased from 46% to 42%.
Undergraduate Enrollment by Ethnicity (Page 12)
Approximately 21% of the undergraduate population is minority of which 2.4% identified more than one race/ethnicity (multi-racial), a category that was new in Fall Census 2010.
Within the minority category, the Hispanic classification is the largest and represents 13% of the entire undergraduate population.

African American only and Native American only categories decreased 8.4% (33 students) and 29.3% (17 students) respectively.
Graduate Enrollment by Ethnicity (Page 14)
The graduate minority population dipped slightly, going from 13% of the population to 11%. Forty-five (45) students or 1.9% identified with the relatively new classification, multi-racial.
Hispanics represent 5.7% of the total graduate population.
Undergraduate First Generation & Undergraduate Low Income (Page 17)
Low income is defined as students who have been offered a Pell Grant.
Thirty-two percent (32%) of the undergraduate population is considered low income.
Thirty-four percent (34%) are first generation students.

Approximately 50% of the undergraduate students are non-first generation, non-low income students.
First generation, low income students are 16% of the total undergraduate population or are 48% of the 3,514 first-generation students.
New Student Enrollment (Page 18)
New Freshmen increased 27 students or 1.2%.
817 undergraduate transfer students began in the Fall of 2011 compared to 835 in 2010 (18 students).
Graduate new students increased 12.4% (120 students).
Continuing graduate students declined slightly (20 students).
Students Enrolled in (at least one) Online Course (Page 19)
The percent of undergraduates enrolling in a least one on-line course remained fairly constant from Fall Census 2010. Graduate students enrolling in at least online course increased (107 students) 39% of the total graduate population (2,368).
Students enrolled by Gender (Page 20)
Females constitute 62% of the undergraduate population which is constant from Fall Census 2010.
The percentage of graduate males decreased from Fall Census 2010.
College Headcount (Page 22)
Generally, the distribution of enrollment among the colleges remains stable.
The College of Natural & Health Sciences undergraduate headcount is 30%, up 2% from Fall Census 2010, of the undergraduate total headcount of 10,231.
College of Education & Behavioral Sciences undergraduate headcount increased 130 students from Fall Census 2010 . Graduate student headcount increased (100) from Fall Census 2010.
The College of Performing & Visual Arts undergraduate and graduate student headcount increased 36 students (20 undergraduate students and 16 graduate students).
The College of Natural Health Sciences graduate headcount decreased by 18 students (down 3.2%) from Fall Census 2010.
