What Does "Meshuga" Mean?
Meshuga: Bor rowed from Hebrew, meshuga (mi-SHOO-gah) means “crazy” in Yiddish. It can also be pronounced meshigeh, meshugeh or even meshugie.
Other related words:
• A person who is meshuga is called a meshuganer (mi-SHOO-gi-ner).
• Many such people are meshugoyim, a corruption of the Hebrew meshuga’im, and a word that is completed unrelated to the word goyim (Hebrew-Yiddish for “gentiles”).
• A craze is called a meshugaas (mi-shoo-GAHS).
Meshuga in a Sentence
So if you wanted to say, “Hey wackos, that lunatic is making me nuts with his craziness,” it would be accurate to say,
“Hey mishugoyim, that meshuganer is making me meshuga with his meshugaas.”
www.chabad.org
Editor's note: Dear mishugoyim, for this Pesach's cleaning meshugaas..try not to make yourself meshuga.
Before you leave your house …
with discarded items, be 100 percent sure that the dona-tion is needed or wanted. Our Trustees are asking everyone to not drop off or leave used goods at our synagogue. If you think we could use it...please call first. We cannot be a clear-inghouse for whatever people do not want but feel guilty about just throwing away. Please do not tax our volunteers by having them dispose of unwanted items regardless of what it is or how good it is. We thank you for your understanding.
