Into the flow…
“Where attention is scarce, the library needs to provide services which save time, which are built around user workflow, and which are targeted and engaging . . . Aggregating resources may not be enough. They will be shaped and projected into user environments in ways that support learning and research objectives.
Lorcan Dempsey, Ariadne, 2006

New / Innovative Ideas
• Share recent innovative work for graduate students at your institutions
• Brainstorm new ideas and solutions
Considerations for New Efforts
• What are the characteristics of an ongoing capacity / commitment to assessing graduate students needs and designing spaces / tools / services that support them; and
• What are the relationships between these needs and those of other constituent groups.
Considerations for New Efforts
• Choose one or two of your innovative ideas to work with and:– Identify key resources needed: staff, partners, technology, funding, knowledge, skills, abilities and attitudes
– Begin to identify sources and strategies for gaining needed resources: retrain, reallocate, seek new funding, etc.
– Depending on what you identified in the step above, how to you begin to lay the groundwork for internal change?
