The glazed tile stoves, a means of heating that links tradition with modernity.
Used in residences since the 16th century, they have not only been appreciated for their excellent heating capacity but also for their highly decorative, and in some cases, highly artistic aspect.
Gentle and even heatIn general, glazed tile stoves are know as “storage tiled stoves” or “heat inertia stoves”. In fact, the energy of the blaze is first stored in the mass of the stove, made up mainly of refractory stones and decorative glazed tiles, and then released regularly and progressively to produce long-lasting heat. The heat is released by infra-red rays, only little by convection, which means that the heat is emitted gently and evenly, eliminating concerns about dust and overly dry air.
Economical heating that is environmental friendlyThe inside of the glazed tile stoves is conceived in a way that numerous deflectors favour the exchange of the heat contained in the fumes and gases with the walls of the stoves. In this way, a significant amount of heat created by the combustion is accumulated in the stove, allowing only little heat to escape through the chimney. Obviously, the conception of stove interiors has developed, resulting from a better understanding of the phenomenon of combustion. That is why the construction of stoves with two combustion chambers has become prevalent. In the first combustion chamber (foyer), the wood is burned and the temperature reaches at least 800°C. In the second combustion chamber, the wood fumes and gases are burned at approximately 1’000°C, allowing virtually a total recuperation of energy. This double chamber system allows modern stoves to render very high yields, over 80%, up to 90%, while emitting drastically reduced quantities of noxious gases and fine particles compared to stoves constructed according to older concepts.Therfore, when compared to other heating systems, glazed tile stoves are ranked among the most economical in using wood and the most environmentally friendly.
A decorative and sophisticated artistic aspectIn addition, glazed tile stoves have always served as decorative objects, finding a choice spot in homes. They can be perfectly integrated even with the most elaborate furnishings, thanks to the vast range of stove designs, from those displaying simple lines to the ornate. Monochrome or polychrome, with geometric or a variety of figurative designs, hand-painted or unique pieces of immense artistic
quality, glazed tile stoves can satisfy the most diverse tastes, making it possible for anyone to find their ideal stove.Noteworthy heritage of the art of glazed tiles and work of artisans of the highest quality, glazed tile stoves will continue to warm our homes and hearts by creating a cosy atmosphere and fascinate us with their incomparable beauty.
