Please note that 10 weeks per level is just a guide to average progress rates. We cannot guarantee an exact period of study over which specifi c language goals can be attained.

The chart below shows the progress you can make with a Kaplan language course. On arrival at your school you will be given a profi ciency test to enable our staff to place you in the correct class for your level of language ability. Regular progress tests during the course will then allow your teachers to monitor your level of improvement. Typically, students on an Intensive English course take just ten weeks to progress from one language level to the next.

The internet-based TOEFL® iBT is the preferred version among academic institutions. Our renowned TOEFL® iBT and Academic English course prepares you for all four sections of the TOEFL® iBT and highlights the academic English skills necessary for success at university. The course includes TOEFL-focused reading, writing, listening and speaking instruction and frequent use of practice exam questions. IELTS ExamThe International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an internationally recognised qualifi cation and an entry requirement for universities in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. It is also used as a language profi ciency guide by many governments in issuing work visas.

Cambridge ExamsThe University of Cambridge ESOL examinations are recognised around the world. Kaplan can help you prepare for the Business English Certifi cates (BEC), First Certifi cate in English (FCE), the Certifi cate in Advanced English (CAE) or the Certifi cate of Profi ciency in English (CPE). Selected Kaplan International Colleges in the UK and Australia are Cambridge ESOL computer-based testing centres. With the computer-based tests (CBT), you will receive the same Cambridge certifi cate but with the benefi t of more frequent exam dates and a shorter wait for results.

Choose the option which is right for you

A pre-arrival level test may be required and can be arranged by your Kaplan representative. Additional accommodation may be required to include the offi cial exam date. IELTS and Cambridge exam fees are not included in the course fees.

Entry requirements

Minimum age 18

You will need an English level of Higher Intermediate or above with good oral communication skills by the time the placement begins. We can advise you on how much language tuition you will need to reach this standard.

In order to enrol on an internship programme you will need to take a free English test and supply your Curriculum Vitae and cover letter by e-mail. You will also need to complete a separate enrolment form, available on request from your Kaplan representative.
