    The Subordinate Clause

    A clause is a group of ords containing a !erb and its sub"ect. A clause that can stand

    as a sentence by itself is called a #ain clause or independent clause. By this definition, a

    simple sentence is a clause, and compound sentence contains two or more clauses.
