parle du déroulement d'une semaine. Tu essaies de comprendre les informations.

Reading (2/3): Babur Ali (New Headway Elementary – 4th edition – unit 2)

Babur Ali comes from West Bengal in India. He is 16 years old and lives in the small

village of Bhabta. His village doesn’t have a school, but Babur is lucky because he

goes to a private school in the next village. His school costs 1,000 rupees, £12 a

year. This is too expensive for many children in Babur’s village, but they want to

learn, so Babur teaches them everything that he learns. More and more children want

to learn, so Babur’s friends help him teach. The classes are in bamboo huts, but

sometimes they sit outdoors. The school is free and now has a name, the Anand

Shiksha School, and Babur is the head teacher.

Busy days

Babur’s days are very busy. He has no free time. He gets up at 5 o’clock in the

morning and helps his mother with the housework. At 8 o’clock he goes by bus to his

school three miles (1 mile = +/- 1, 600 km) away. He studies hard all day until 4.00 in

the afternoon. Then he travels back to his village and at 5.00 he begins the classes.

He teaches English, Bengali, history and maths until 8.00 in the evening. He says “I

love teaching. I am never tired”.

Babur’s ambitions

Now the school has 650 students and ten teachers. Babur wants to study at

university but he doesn’t want to stop teaching. He says “I always want to teach poor

children”

Kate is thirteen years old. She lives in a house in Spain, she is Spanish.

Her house is big: there is a cellar, a garage and an attic. On the ground floor, there is

the kitchen and the bathroom. In the kitchen, there is a fridge, a table and some

chairs. There is also a cooker, a shelf and a clock. In the bathroom, there is a shower,

a toilet and a sink. On the second floor, there is the living room and the bathroom. In

the living room, there is a fireplace, a sofa, some shelves, a clock and a table. In the

bedroom, there is a double bed, a shelf, a wardrobe with some clothes and a clock.

The walls of the bedroom are red.

Kate’s mother is a hairdresser and her father is a gardener. She has a brother, his

name’s Mike and he likes playing with his toys.

In the morning, Kate usually wakes up at 6.35 a.m.

Then she has a shower at 6.45 a.m.

She goes to school by bus at 7.45 a.m.

She enjoys listening to music and she really likes reading but she dislikes doing the

washing up.

In the evening, she often has dinner with her family at 6.50 p.m.

She usually goes to bed at 9.30 p.m.

At the moment, Kate is playing with John. They are playing tennis.
