You loved words and you could compose poems anywhere anytime and wrote them in your little notebook. You wanted to be a poet and write beautiful things about life and love. You loved words and you could compose poems anywhere anytime and wrote them in your little notebook. You wanted to be a poet and write beautiful things about life and love. But then your parents stepped in the way and guilded you away from your dream just because they thought being a poet was a non-sense thing and it did not help with the family background of doing business. They slowly led you far from your childhoods dream and now you find yourself sitting in a business majored class studying about 10 principles of economics. Then you ask yourself a question that many people at your age have been asking recently: how did I end up here? Many students claimed that the majors they are studying are not suitable for them or even against their will. The problem mostly comes from their parents, who constantly guide their children towards the pursuit of professional occupations such as doctors, engineers, businessmen. However, if a childs dream is misled by their parents, that child may encounter a lot of troubles when growing up doing the job that they has no passion for. It may also be a waste of talents for the society when a person who was born to be an excellent artist, but then ended up being a salesclerk in some department stores. Another thing is that when you are doing a job that you do not commit to, you will find it very hard to get things done effectively and efficiently. You may be trapped in the circle of making a living every day, thus feeling unhappy most of the time. However, people usually say that when there is a will, there is a way. Therefore, the problem of students being unable to follow their favorite future job can be solved by giving parents consultation session on how to give directions to their children properly and by adjusting the educational system to focusing on discovering students abilities at their early age. Consultation session for parents is a good way to help the grown-ups understand the value of dreams and pass it on their children. The government can make this happen, the same way they did with compulsory vaccination for infants. The way to do this is simple: parents who currently have children starting to go to local high schools will have to attend seminars given by experienced psychologists at least 3 times a year until their kids graduate from high school. The consultation sessions should be built to help parents, especially who usually think that a successful career is to be someone big and make a lot of money, realize that it is not always about physical things that matter, but rather the happiness of their children when they get a chance to follow their dreams and do what they love. If the phsychologists know how to remind the parents of how they felt when they were kids, they are more likely to empathize with their children better. When parents are fully aware of the importance of letting children grow up naturally and do whatever they want for their future, the child may have less chances of being on the wrong track. The responsibility of educating and leading the young generation does not only lie in the parents hands, but also the educational system of the country, more specifically it is on the educators. The educational system for long time has been focused on making perfect students, who get high scores at many subjects and are very competitive. This, however, makes the school evironment become harsh and hard to inspire people and to generate new ideas. It is commonly said that a childs imagination has no limitations. Should it be true, then we might want to let a child live fully with it, not to interrupt them. School teachers in middle and highschool system have to be well trained, and they should have the ability to figure out each students characteristics and talent. Teachers then should work closely with the parents individually in order to help develop the students capability. By doing that, not only is the student likely to feel happier doing what he or she loves to do and gets support from family and school, but also the society may get benefits when the students talent is fully discovered and developed. The question that is raised at the beginning may not be exactly correct word by word in reality, but it is commonly true to many university students nowadays. Most students may be confused with their majors, struggling to find an interesting point in that major to keep on studying in order not to upset their parents. Some other students manage to get some free time to do the things they love outside of school to keep their dreams alive and, at the same time, keep their parents satisfied. However, is it cruel to let students run around trying to figure out their life when parents and teachers could have helped them in their early stage of being a student in middle school or high school? If this could be done, the society would have had more passionate contributors and the students would have lived happily doing what they love. What we need are mutual understandings between parents and child by getting parents to attend consultation sessions, the support and directions given by teachers to help a student fulfill their ability. This is, by all means, not so difficult a thing to do. Therefore, later on, when you grow older and have a child, you might want to refer back to the time when you were a child in order to understand how important a dream is to your child and let your son or daughter decides whoever he or she wants to become with your wholehearted guide and support.
