Your goal: Be able to give examples of the physical characteristics of England.

Islands
• England is on an island.
British Isles
England is part of the largest of two large islands.
• Great Britain is the large one.
• Ireland is the small one.
Three names for this place:
1. England – Bottom of island of Great Britain2. Britain – Both islands3. United Kingdom – Government of four
countries including:–Wales–England–Northern Ireland–Scotland

Bogs are wet , marshy with lots of short plant life.

Moor
Moors are bogs with less water.
Strait
A narrow strip of water between land.For example, the Strait of Dover.
Peat
Cut and dried plants from old bogs.Burned for heat.
Channel
A wide strip of water between land.For example, the English Channel.
Sea
A large body of salt water.For example, the North Sea.
Loch
An arm of the sea reaching inland.For example, Loch Ness in Scotland.
Loch
Is the Loch Ness Monster real????Loch Ness in Scotland.
River
Fresh water flowing from mountains to ocean.
For example, River Thames.

Gulf Stream
Europe is warm because of warm air from the equator.
