Chapter 8 – Custom Drawing and Sheet Template The foundation of a

new SolidWorks drawing is the Drawing Template. Drawing size, drawing standards, company information, manufacturing, and or assembly requirements, units and other properties are defined in the Drawing Template.

incorporated into the Drawing Template.

The Sheet Format contains: Border Title Block information Revision Block information Company name Logo information Custom Properties SolidWorks Properties

Set the Sheet document Properties.

text fields linked to: System Properties Custom Properties

System Properties are determined from the SolidWorks documents.

Custom Property values are assigned to named variables.

Save time. Utilize System Properties and define Custom Properties in your Sheet Formats.

Chapter 8 – Custom Drawing and Sheet Template Tolerance values are

different for inch and millimeter document templates.

Enter the Tolerance values for the inch template.

Enter the Tolerance values for the millimeter template.

Save drawing templates with unique filenames.

a Custom Sheet Format. Combine the Sheet

Format with the Drawing Template to create a Custom Drawing Template.

Use the Custom Sheet Format and Drawing Template to create drawings in this chapter.

Save the drawing Template.

Chapter 8 – BATTERY Drawing

Create the BATTERY drawing from the BATTERY part.

Utilize the Model View feature in the Drawings toolbar.

The Front view is the first view inserted into the drawing.

Note: The Top view and Right view are Projected views.

Insert dimensions into the drawing with the Insert Model Items feature.

Insert Views: Insert the Front Insert the Top Insert the Right Insert an Isometric

Note –You are in Third Angle Projection.

Save the drawing document.

Chapter 8 – BATTERY Drawing

A Detail view enlarges an area of an existing view.

You need to specify location, name, shape and scale if different than the Parent scale.

Create a Detail view: Named A with a circle 1:1 Scale

A Detail circle specifies the area of an existing view to enlarge.

The circle contains the same letter as the view name.

Insert dimensions into the drawing sheet.

Move dimensions in Drawing View1 and Drawing View3.

Address extension line gaps.

Move all dimensions off the view.

Create a new drawing named FLASHLIGHT.

Chapter 8 – O-RING DESIGN TABLE and Drawing A design table is a spreadsheet

used to create multiple configurations in a part or assembly.

The design table controls the dimensions and parameters in the part.

Utilize the design table to modify the overall path diameter and profile diameter of the O-RING.

Create three configurations of the O-RING.
