If your data will not run in Power Point slideshow mode contact Enstore.Initial condition.• The system is initially running on nuclear and fossil fuel power. • The weather predictions are for significant power changes so to have a robust AC grid capable of

dealing with power transient it is desirable to start the Energy Storage System “ESS” • The ESS is fully rated to deal with worst case events.

Press 1 for ESS start up as shown by its green light• The ESS is now on line to stabilises the AC grid versus power variations with no concerns about

reducing the rotating inertia on the AC grid.

Press 2 for the Sun and wait till power station smoke stops before press 3• Can use all the solar power and stop a generator as do not need its rotary inertia.• The AC grid variations in the solar power are removed by the ESS.• Can then optimise the fossil fuel generation on line to run at optimum efficiency• This saves fossil fuel used and reduces C02 emissions.

Press 3 for the wind and wait till power station smoke stops before press 4.• Can use all the wind power and stop a generator as do not need its rotary inertia, • The AC grid variations in the wind power are removed by the ESS.• Can then optimise the fossil fuel generation on line to run at optimum efficiency.• This further saves fossil fuel used and further reduces C02 emissions.

Press 4 for people going to work and wait for them to go in to office before press 5.• The workers are happy as they have a secure grid power system

Press 5 for wind ESS• With this wind ESS can either use all or part of the wind power in real time and save the remainder. • Can either pool price bid to deliver an accurate value of power to the grid with no risks. or can

save this energy to sell at the optimum time. • This maximises the green power produced and also maximises the return on wind farm CAPX. • This encourages investment in wind power and also gives improved grid fault ride through “GFR”

with less mechanical stress on the turbine blades.• This also enables the fossil fuel generators to be run at the optimal output.

Press 6 for solar ESS• With this solar ESS you have all the same benefits as for the wind ESS.

Press 7 for power station ESS• With the power station ESS can run generators at optimal output and the ESS can supply the

transient power needs and MVAr needs.• Have time to start generators even for a worst case generator loss of a nuclear station.• Need less installed generators as there is no need to run fossil fuel generators at a reduced output

to have a transient power margin to deal with worst case events

Press 8 to show a nuclear station trip.• Can survive a nuclear station trip with no extra fossil generators on line as have time to start up

fossil fuel generators.

Press 9 to delete power station being built• With all the ESS systems do not need as many fossil fuel power stations with massive £ saved.• To have all these benefits it needs an overall vision and a coordinated approach to operating the

AC grid system that is not easily achieved in a competitive energy market but one result will be more stable energy costs in real time.
