Empathize – user persona
Goal: to identify and better understand the people affected by the problem statement. They are potential users of the design solution.
Why: gaining an appreciation and understanding of a potential user’s needs, wants, motivations, behaviours and barriers helps us design more meaningful solutions to a problem.

Who are they?Age, gender, likes and dislikes
What makes them unique?Needs, wants, hopes and fears
What motivates them?Peers, community, self and family
How do they behave?Habits, behaviours and activities
Why do they behave this way?Life conditions, environment and ability
What are their barriers?Financial, social, time and ability

Goal: to summarize how a potential user relates to the design challenge (sustainable energy future).
Why: an empathy map helps create a deeper understanding of the perspective of a potential user.
