Original windows are operable (no longer in use) non thermally broken units with single glazed tinted glass The glazing beads were wet sealed and failing. Caulk was brittle and falling out, water and air infiltrating. Original concept was to reglaze the existing glass and install a storm window with integral blind. We learned that it was more cost effective to replace the window sash with a thermally broken frame and insulated glass. The image above show the mockup of two windows. One with a natural frame and clear low E glass. Another with a black frame, low e tinted glass. The third is the existing condition. While more visible light was desirable, it had a negative effect on the appearance of the building from amn historical perspective. We cjose alternate two with the blcak thernmally broken frame, tinted insulated glass and the low e coating.
