SOLAR ENERGY:Solar power uses thesun's energy and light to provide heat,

light, and electricity for homes. It is the

primary source of all energy forms on theearth. It is one such energy which helps in

    maintaining the ecological balance

through the process of photosynthesis and

    green house effect.

    WIND ENERGY:

Wind energy is often used to generate the

mechanical power or the electricity. In thecountry like India, wind energy holds the

great importance because of large hilly,

coastal and desert areas. In the rural

areas it is used to pump water and grindgrain. The benefit of wind energy is that it is

fully pollution free and is eco friendly

too. It costs low and the generation ofpower is continuous. It is the most effective

way to conserve the energy and prevent the

    environment

BIOMASSENERGY:Biomass is the plant and animal

waste which is used as the energy.

Biomass energy like manure fromlivestock, plant waste etc can be

    used to generate electricity, fuel,

    light, and heat.We get biomass

    energy directly from plants and

    indirectly from the animal waste.

You should turn off the engines of

your vehicle on long red-lights or

when stationed at one place for more

than 2-3 minutes. Try to drive on amoderate speed, if you are not in an

exceptional hurry. Driving fast is not

    only hazardous to your personal

safety; it also consumes a lot of fuel.

You can also avoid using the AC,which ups the fuel consumption of a

car, if the outside weather is good.

    Petroleum Conservation Research Association

(PCRA) www.pcra.org is an Indian government body created in

1976 and engaged in promoting energy efficiency and conservation

in every walk of life. In the recent past PCRA has done mass

media campaigns in television, radio & print media. An impact

assessment survey by a third party revealed that due to these mega

campaigns by PCRA, overall awareness level have gone up

leading to saving of fossil fuels worth crores of rupees besidesreducing pollution.

Bureau of Energy Efficiency is an Indian governmental

organization created in 2002 responsible for promoting energy

    efficiency and conservation.

Energy conservations has saved the need for many

    power plants and fuel imports.

It has also avoided carbon dioxide emissions and

    environmental pollution.

Much has been done but much more can done.

In this new era of global warming and high energycosts and energy shortages , the public must be

informed and politicians sought who are sensitive in

    these issues.
