Tremendous thanks to our whole school community for their efforts. I must mention our PTA who have been sensational, totally dedicated to raising funds for the school, organising numerous events and treats for the children – a great year indeed! It is a time of celebration and also of farewells…….I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Mills who has been at Berrymede for over 20 years, as well Mrs Palmer, who has been at Berrymede for 17 years, both have passionately served the school community and will be greatly missed; Mrs Tahirkhelli who has been a dedicated SENCo, working tirelessly for the rights of our pupils; Miss Deely, will be moving to Australia to experience life ‘down under,’ we will miss the Irish Dance classes!; Miss Anderson, who has been an amazing Head of Year 6, will be moving to Lisbon to experience life there; Mrs Shahin will be retiring, although we do hope to see her periodically. We are indebted to these teachers for their hard work and relentless pursuit in providing the best possible educational experiences for our children. It is also with great sadness that Mr Mills passed away, may he rest in peace. Please see attached special letter. I wish all our families a peaceful summer. Mrs L Khan Head Teacher Another fabulous Sports Day, enjoyed by all the pupils, well done to all the children for taking part. A big thank you to Mr Burlow for organising.

The PTA has had an amazing year and would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to all the parents/carers, children and Staff at BJS. This year we have been able to raise and fund lots of resources for our children through cake, sweet, lolly and the Summer Fete sales. We have funded Compasses, sewing machines, wet play games, school disco, flash mob treats, end of year disco and the summer fete from the proceeds we raised throughout the year. It has been a very successful year for PTA and we have an incredible profit of £2538.62 heading us into the next academic year in September 😊😊 The PTA and staff at BJS would like to take this opportunity to thank the following businesses and organisations for the food and raffle prize donations: Parents/carers, Odqoon (Oud incense gift), Elevate Arts, Acton Gardens, Citrus Group Company, Cake Box (Harlesden), Starboard Hotels, Everyone Active, Ayam Zaman Restaurant, Booker's and Step2WOLondon. Thank you to everyone once again. We appreciate your continued support for our children 😊😊

Special Edition 2018- 2019

Another successful year draws to a close. Year 3 have had an incredibly exciting and busy time and it is amazing to see how much has been achieved by the children in one year. Mrs Lamb, Mrs Mangat and Miss Cory have loved getting to know the children and watching them grow and flourish both inside and outside of the classroom. It is difficult to identify the highlights as there are genuinely so many. We wish all the children good luck and know they will continue to do amazing things in year 4!

Reading Focus Here at Berrymede Junior School, we see Reading for pleasure as a priority. Year 3 have been lucky to have access to a fantastic range of quality texts from the Power of Reading project. They have learnt how to make predictions and relate their learning to their own experiences. Pupils have also formed good habits in completing their home Reading records weekly with 3M being by far the most consistent class for reading at home Thank you parents for your continued support with reading.

Enquiry Based Learning This year saw the introduction of Enquiry Based Learning weeks every term. Year 3 were able to develop their research and artistic skills across a range of topics. Pupils especially enjoyed making 3D models of Iron age settlements and using clay to make healthy foods. They also investigated how plants have adapted to rainforest and desert habitats and made models of these habitats.

This year, in addition to our regular annual trips which include Hampton Court Palace, Natural History Museum and The Tower of London, the pupils in Year 4 had the opportunity to attend a special place of worship known as the Ealing Gurdwara. Not only did the children get to consolidate their knowledge and understanding of Sikhism but they also learned to appreciate different types of cultural foods.

Special Edition 2018 - 2019

As another successful year draws to a close, we have reflected on a fantastic year. It is amazing how much has been achieved by the children, academically, in sport and the creative arts. Some of the highlights are included in this newsletter. Thank you to the amazing Mrs Ahmed, Madame Shahin Miss Farah and Mr McDonald for all their hard work.

Year 5 students went on an exciting trip to the Ragged School Museum. They were transported back to the 1880s, and experience first-hand what Victorian schooling was really like. The students also investigated a series of mysterious 19th century domestic objects.

Back in October, the Year 5s took a trip to the British Museum, during which they listened to a presentation about the Ancient Egyptian process of mummification, before exploring some of the most famous artefacts in the Museum.

In the Spring term, 6 students from year 5, took their first LAMDA exams. They acted out monologues and recited poems on chosen subjects. They all passed their LAMDA exams.

Special Edition 2018- 2019

It has been an exciting year for Year 6 at Berrymede with a focus on SATs, transition to high school and many extra-curricular activities.

The Year 6 team would like to wish everyone a wonderful and safe summer holiday!

Wishing all the year 6 pupils The best of luck for High School in September.

Pupils are back to school on Wednesday 4th September 2019 at normal time!

Year 6 has work extremely hard this year and achieved wonderful results in their SATs. All the teachers are very proud of them and know they will all continue to achieve great things with their excellent attitudes. At the end of the term we all spent a day at Go Ape in Battersea park. It was pretty nerve-racking climbing up high trees but everyone had a fantastic day and enjoyed celebrating a great year together.
