1. SAFETY INFORMATIONBefore the installation and use of the appliance,carefully read the supplied instructions. Themanufacturer is not responsible if an incorrectinstallation and use causes injuries and damages. Alwayskeep the instructions with the appliance for futurereference.

1.1 Children and vulnerable people safety• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8

years and above and persons with reduced physical,sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experienceand knowledge if they have been given supervision orinstruction concerning use of the appliance in a safeway and understand the hazards involved.

• Do not let children play with the appliance.• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by

children without supervision.• Keep all packaging away from children.

1.2 General Safety• This appliance is intended to be used in household

and similar applications such as:– Farm houses; staff kitchen areas in shops, offices

and other working environments– By clients in hotels, motels, bed and breakfast and

other residential type environments• Keep ventilation openings, in the appliance enclosure

or in the built-in structure, clear of obstruction.• Do not use mechanical devices or other means to

accelerate the defrosting process, other than thoserecommended by the manufacturer.

• Do not damage the refrigerant circuit.• Do not use electrical appliances inside the food

storage compartments of the appliance, unless theyare of the type recommended by the manufacturer.

• Do not use water spray and steam to clean theappliance.

• Clean the appliance with a moist soft cloth. Only useneutral detergents. Do not use abrasive products,abrasive cleaning pads, solvents or metal objects.

• Do not store explosive substances such as aerosolcans with a flammable propellant in this appliance.

• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced bythe manufacturer, its Authorised Service Centre orsimilarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

2. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

2.1 Installation

WARNING!Only a qualified person mustinstall this appliance.

• Remove all the packaging.• Do not install or use a damaged

appliance.• Obey the installation instruction

supplied with the appliance.• Always be careful when you move the

appliance because it is heavy. Alwayswear safety gloves.

• Make sure the air can circulate aroundthe appliance.

• Wait at least 4 hours beforeconnecting the appliance to thepower supply. This is to allow the oilto flow back in the compressor.

• Do not install the appliance close toradiators or cookers, oven or hobs.

• The rear of the appliance must standagainst the wall.

• Do not install the appliance wherethere is direct sunlight.

• Do not install this appliance in areasthat are too humid or too colds, suchas the construction appendices,garages or wine cellars.

• When you move the appliance, lift itby the front edge to avoid scratchingthe floor.

2.2 Electrical connection

WARNING!Risk of fire and electricalshock.

• The appliance must be earthed.• Make sure that the electrical

information on the rating plate agreeswith the power supply. If not, contactan electrician.

• Always use a correctly installedshockproof socket.

• Do not use multi-plug adapters andextension cables.

• Make sure not to cause damage tothe electrical components (e.g. mainsplug, mains cable, compressor).Contact the Authorised ServiceCentre or an electrician to change theelectrical components.

• The mains cable must stay below thelevel of the mains plug.

• Connect the mains plug to the mainssocket only at the end of theinstallation. Make sure that there isaccess to the mains plug after theinstallation.

• Do not pull the mains cable todisconnect the appliance. Always pullthe mains plug.

2.3 Use

• Do not change the specification ofthis appliance.

• Do not put electrical appliances (e.g.ice cream makers) in the applianceunless they are stated applicable bythe manufacturer.

• Be careful not to cause damage tothe refrigerant circuit. It containsisobutane (R600a), a natural gas with ahigh level of environmentalcompatibility. This gas is flammable.

• If damage occurs to the refrigerantcircuit, make sure that there are noflames and sources of ignition in theroom. Ventilate the room.

• Do not let hot items to touch theplastic parts of the appliance.

• Do not put soft drinks in the freezercompartment. This will createpressure on the drink container.

• Do not store flammable gas andliquid in the appliance.

• Do not put flammable products oritems that are wet with flammableproducts in, near or on the appliance.

• Do not touch the compressor or thecondenser. They are hot.

• Do not remove or touch items fromthe freezer compartment if your handsare wet or damp.

• Do not freeze again food that hasbeen thawed.

• Obey the storage instructions on thepackaging of frozen food.

2.4 Care and cleaning

WARNING!Risk of injury or damage tothe appliance.

• Before maintenance, deactivate theappliance and disconnect the mainsplug from the mains socket.

• This appliance contains hydrocarbonsin the cooling unit. Only a qualifiedperson must do the maintenance andthe recharging of the unit.

• Regularly examine the drain of theappliance and if necessary, clean it. Ifthe drain is blocked, defrosted watercollects in the bottom of theappliance.

2.5 Disposal

WARNING!Risk of injury or suffocation.

• Disconnect the appliance from themains supply.

• Cut off the mains cable and discard it.• Remove the door to prevent children

and pets to be closed inside of theappliance.

• The refrigerant circuit and theinsulation materials of this applianceare ozone-friendly.

• The insulation foam containsflammable gas. Contact yourmunicipal authority for information onhow to discard the appliancecorrectly.

• Do not cause damage to the part ofthe cooling unit that is near the heatexchanger.

3.3 Switching on1. Connect the mains plug to the power

socket.2. Press the appliance ON/OFF if the

display is off. The temperatureindicators show the set defaulttemperature.

The alarm buzzer couldoperate after few seconds.To reset the alarm refer to"High temperature alarm".

To select a different set temperaturerefer to "Temperature regulation".

If "dEMo" appears on the display, referto "Troubleshooting" chapter.

3.4 Switching off1. Press the appliance ON/OFF button

for 5 seconds.The display switches off.2. Disconnect the mains plug from the

power socket.

3.5 Temperature regulationSet the temperature of the appliance bypressing the temperature regulators. Default set temperature:

• +3°C for the fridge• -18°C for the freezer

The temperature indicators show the settemperature.

The set temperature will bereached within 24 hours.After a power failure the settemperature remains stored.

3.6 Switching on the fridgeTo switch on the fridge it is enough topress the fridge temperature regulator.To switch on the fridge in the other way:

1. Press Mode until the correspondingicon appears.

The Fridge OFF indicator flashes.2. Press OK to confirm.The fridge OFF indicator goes off.

To select a different settemperature refer to"Temperature regulation".

3.7 Switching off the fridge1. Press Mode until the corresponding

icon appears.The fridge OFF indicator and the fridgecompartment indicator flash.The fridge temperature indicator showsdashes.2. Press OK to confirm.The fridge OFF indicator is shown.

3.8 High temperature alarmAn increase in the temperature in thefreezer compartment (for example due toan earlier power failure) is indicated byflashing the alarm icon and freezertemperature indicators, and sounding ofbuzzer.

Press any button.The buzzer switches off.The freezer temperature indicator showsthe highest temperature reached for afew seconds, then displays the settemperature again.

The alarm indicatorcontinues to flash until thenormal conditions arerestored.

3.9 COOLMATIC functionIf you need to insert a large amount ofwarm food, for example after doing thegrocery shopping, we suggest activatingthe COOLMATIC function to chill theproducts more rapidly and to avoidwarming the other food which is alreadyin the refrigerator.

1. Press the Mode until thecorresponding icon appears.

The COOLMATIC indicator flashes.2. Press the OK to confirm.The COOLMATIC indicator is shown.This function stops automatically after 52hours.

To switch off the function before itsautomatic end, repeat the procedure.

The function switches off byselecting a different fridgeset temperature.

3.10 Holiday functionThis function allows you to keep theappliance closed and empty during along holiday period without theformation of bad odours.

1. Press the Mode until thecorresponding icon appears.

The Holiday indicator flashes. Thetemperature indicator shows the settemperature.2. Press the OK to confirm.The Holiday indicator is shown.

The function switches off byselecting a different settemperature.

3.11 FROSTMATIC functionThe FROSTMATIC function acceleratesthe freezing of fresh food and, at thesame time, protects foodstuffs alreadystored from undesirable warming.

1. Press the Mode button until thecorresponding icon appears.

The FROSTMATIC indicator flashes.2. Press the OK button to confirm.TheFROSTMATIC indicator is shown.This function stops automatically after 52hours.

To switch off the function before itsautomatic end repeat the procedureuntil the FROSTMATIC indicator goesoff.

The function switches off byselecting a different settemperature.

3.12 Door open alarmAn acoustic alarm will sound if the dooris left open for a few minutes. The dooropen alarm conditions are indicated by:

• a flashing Alarm indicator;• an acoustic buzzer.When normal conditions are restored(door closed), the alarm will stop. Thebuzzer can also be switched off bypressing any button.

3.13 ChildLock functionActivate the ChildLock function to lockthe buttons from unintentionaloperation.

1. Press Mode until the correspondingicon appears.

The ChildLock indicator flashes.2. Press OK to confirm.The ChildLock indicator is shown.To deactivate the ChildLock function,repeat the procedure until the ChildLockindicator goes off.

3.14 MinuteMinder functionThe MinuteMinder function is to be usedto set an acoustic alarm at the preferredtime, useful for example when a reciperequires to cool down food products fora certain period of time.

It is also useful when a reminder isneeded in order not to forget the bottlesplaced in the freezer for fast cooling.

1. Press Mode until the correspondingicon appears.

The MinuteMinder indicator flashes.The Timer shows the set value (30minutes) for a few seconds.2. Press the Timer regulator to change

the Timer set value from 1 to 90minutes.

3. Press OK to confirm.TheMinuteMinder indicator is shown.

The Timer start to flash (min).At the end of the countdown theMinuteMinder indicator flashes and anaudible alarm sounds. Press OK to switchoff the sound and terminate the function.

To switch off the function repeat theprocedure until the MinuteMinder goesoff.

It is possible to change thetime at any time during thecountdown and at the endby pressing the Temperaturecolder button and theTemperature warmer button.

3.15 DYNAMICAIR function1. Press Mode until the corresponding

icon appears.The DYNAMICAIR indicator flashes.2. Press the OK to confirm.The DYNAMICAIR indicator appears.To switch off the function, repeat theprocedure until the DYNAMICAIRindicator goes off.

The activation of theDYNAMICAIR functionincreases energyconsumption.If the function is activatedautomatically theDYNAMICAIR indicator isnot shown (refer to "Dailyuse").

4. FIRST USE

4.1 Cleaning the interiorBefore using the appliance for the firsttime, the interior and all internalaccessories should be washed withlukewarm water and some neutral soapto remove the typical smell of a brand-new product, then dried thoroughly.

CAUTION!Do not use detergents orabrasive powders, as thesewill damage the finish.

5. DAILY USE

5.1 Positioning the doorshelvesTo permit storage of food packages ofvarious sizes, the door shelves can beplaced at different heights.

1. Gradually pull the shelf in thedirection of the arrows until it comesfree.

2. Reposition as required.

5.2 Movable shelvesThe walls of the refrigerator areequipped with a series of runners so thatthe shelves can be positioned as desired.

Do not move the glass shelfabove the vegetable drawerand the bottle shelf toensure correct air circulation.

5.3 Freezing fresh foodThe freezer compartment is suitable forfreezing fresh food and storing frozenand deep-frozen food for a long time.

To freeze small amount of fresh foods itis not necessary to change the presentsetting.

To freeze fresh food activate theFROSTMATIC function at least 24 hoursbefore placing the food to be frozen inthe freezer compartment.

The maximum amount of food that canbe frozen in 24 hours is specified on therating plate, a label located on the insideof the appliance.

The freezing process lasts 24 hours:during this period do not add other foodto be frozen.

When the freezing process is completed,return to the required temperature (see"FROSTMATIC Function").

In this condition, therefrigerator compartmenttemperature might dropbelow 0°C. If this occursreset the temperatureregulator to a warmersetting.

5.4 ThawingDeep-frozen or frozen food, prior tobeing used, can be thawed in therefrigerator compartment or at roomtemperature, depending on the timeavailable for this operation.

Small pieces may even be cooked stillfrozen, directly from the freezer: in thiscase, cooking will take longer.

5.5 DYNAMICAIRThe refrigerator compartment isequipped with a device that allows forrapid cooling of foods and more uniformtemperature in the compartment.

This device activates by itself whenneeded, for example for a quicktemperature recovering after dooropening or when the ambienttemperature is high.

It is possible to switch on the devicemanually when needed (refer to"DYNAMICAIR function").

The DYNAMICAIR devicestops when the door is openand restarts immediatelyafter the door closing.

5.6 Ice-cube productionThis appliance is equipped with one ormore trays for the production of ice-cubes.

Do not use metallicinstruments to remove thetrays from the freezer.

compartment.

5.7 Cold accumulatorsThe freezer contains at least one coldaccumulator which increases storagetime in the event of a power cut orbreakdown.

6. HINTS AND TIPS

6.1 Normal operating soundsThe following sounds are normal duringoperation:

• A faint gurgling and bubbling soundfrom coils sound when refrigerant ispumped.

• A whirring and pulsating sound fromthe compressor when refrigerant ispumped.

• A sudden cracking noise from insideappliance caused by thermicdilatation (a natural and notdangerous physical phenomenon).

• A faint click noise from thetemperature regulator when thecompressor switches on or off.

6.2 Hints for energy saving• Do not open the door frequently or

leave it open longer than absolutelynecessary.

• If foreseen, do not remove the coldaccumulators from the freezer basket.

6.3 Hints for fresh foodrefrigerationTo obtain the best performance:

• do not store warm food orevaporating liquids in the refrigerator

• do cover or wrap the food, particularlyif it has a strong flavour

• position food so that air can circulatefreely around it

6.4 Hints for refrigerationUseful hints:

• Meat (all types) : wrap in polythenebags and place on the glass shelfabove the vegetable drawer.

• For safety, store in this way only oneor two days at the most.

• Cooked foods, cold dishes, etc. :these should be covered and may beplaced on any shelf.

• Fruit and vegetables: these should bethoroughly cleaned and placed in thespecial drawer(s) provided.

• Butter and cheese: these should beplaced in special airtight containers orwrapped in aluminium foil orpolythene bags to exclude as muchair as possible.

• Bottles: these need a cap and shouldbe stored on the door bottle shelf, or(if equipped) on the bottle rack.

• Bananas, potatoes, onions and garlic,if not packed, must not be kept in therefrigerator.

6.5 Hints for freezingTo help you make the most of thefreezing process, here are someimportant hints:

• the maximum quantity of food whichcan be frozen in 24 hours is shown onthe rating plate;

• the freezing process takes 24 hoursno further food to be frozen shouldbe added during this period;

• freeze only top quality, fresh andthoroughly cleaned, foodstuffs;

• prepare food in small portions toenable it to be rapidly and completelyfrozen and to make it possiblesubsequently to thaw only thequantity required;

• wrap up the food in aluminium foil orpolythene and make sure that thepackages are airtight;

• do not allow fresh, unfrozen food totouch food which is already frozen,

thus avoiding a rise in temperature ofthe latter;

• lean foods store better and longerthan fatty ones; salt reduces thestorage life of food;

• water ices, if consumed immediatelyafter removal from the freezercompartment, can possibly cause theskin to be freeze burnt;

• it is advisable to show the freezing indate on each individual pack toenable you to keep tab of the storagetime.

6.6 Hints for storage of frozenfoodTo obtain the best performance from thisappliance, you should:

• make sure that the commerciallyfrozen foodstuffs were adequatelystored by the retailer;

• be sure that frozen foodstuffs aretransferred from the foodstore to thefreezer in the shortest possible time;

• not open the door frequently or leaveit open longer than absolutelynecessary;

• once defrosted, food deterioratesrapidly and cannot be refrozen;

• do not exceed the storage periodindicated by the food manufacturer.

7. CARE AND CLEANING

WARNING!Refer to Safety chapters.

7.1 General warnings

CAUTION!Unplug the appliance beforecarrying out anymaintenance operation.

This appliance containshydrocarbons in its coolingunit; maintenance andrecharging must thereforeonly be carried out byauthorized technicians.

The accessories and parts ofthe appliance are notsuitable for washing in adishwasher.

7.2 Periodic cleaning

CAUTION!Do not pull, move ordamage any pipes and/orcables inside the cabinet.

CAUTION!Take care of not to damagethe cooling system.

CAUTION!When moving the cabinet,lift it by the front edge toavoid scratching the floor.

The equipment has to be cleanedregularly:

1. Clean the inside and accessories withlukewarm water and some neutralsoap.

2. Regularly check the door seals andwipe clean to ensure they are cleanand free from debris.

3. Rinse and dry thoroughly.4. If accessible, clean the condenser

and the compressor at the back ofthe appliance with a brush. This operation will improve theperformance of the appliance andsave electricity consumption.

7.3 Defrosting of therefrigeratorFrost is automatically eliminated from theevaporator of the refrigeratorcompartment every time the motorcompressor stops, during normal use.The defrost water drains out through atrough into a special container at theback of the appliance, over the motorcompressor, where it evaporates.

It is important to periodically clean thedefrost water drain hole in the middle ofthe refrigerator compartment channel toprevent the water overflowing anddripping onto the food inside.

7.4 Defrosting the freezerThe freezer compartment is frost free.This means that there is no build up offrost when it is in operation, neither onthe internal walls nor on the foods.

The absence of frost is due to thecontinuous circulation of cold air insidethe compartment, driven by anautomatically controlled fan.

7.5 Periods of non-operationWhen the appliance is not in use for longperiods, take the following precautions:

1. Disconnect the appliance fromelectricity supply.

2. Remove all food.3. Clean the appliance and all

accessories.4. Leave the door/doors open to

prevent unpleasant smells.

WARNING!If the cabinet will be kept on,ask somebody to check itonce in a while to preventthe food inside from spoilingin case of a power failure.

8. TROUBLESHOOTING

8.1 What to do if...

This document sets out the terms andconditions of the product warrantiesfor AEG Appliances. It is an importantdocument. Please keep it with yourproof of purchase documents in a safeplace for future reference should yourequire service for your Appliance.

1. In this warrantya) ‘acceptable quality’ as referred to

in clause 10 of this warranty hasthe same meaning referred to inthe ACL;

b) ‘ACL’ means Schedule 2 to theCompetition and Consumer Act2010;

c) ‘Appliance’ means any AEGproduct purchased by you andaccompanied by this document;

d) ‘ASC’ means AEG authorisedservice centres;

e) AEG is the brand controlled byElectrolux Home Products PtyLtd of 163 O’Riordan Street,Mascot NSW 2020, ABN 51 004762 341 in respect of Appliancespurchased in Australia andElectrolux (NZ) Limited(collectively ‘Electrolux’) of 3-5Niall Burgess Road, MountWellington, in respect ofAppliances purchased in NewZealand;

f) ‘major failure’ as referred to inclause 10 of this warranty has thesame meaning referred to in theACL and includes a situationwhen an Appliance cannot berepaired or it is uneconomic forElectrolux, at its discretion, torepair an Appliance during theWarranty Period;

g) ‘Warranty Period’ means theAppliance is warranted againstmanufacturing defects inAustralia and New Zealand for 60months, following the date oforiginal purchase of theAppliance;

h) ‘you’ means the purchaser of theAppliance not having purchasedthe Appliance for re-sale, and‘your’ has a correspondingmeaning.

2. This warranty only applies toAppliances purchased and used inAustralia or New Zealand in normaldomestic applications and is inaddition to (and does not exclude,restrict, or modify in any way) anynon-excludable statutory warrantiesin Australia or New Zealand.

3. During the Warranty PeriodElectrolux or its ASC will, at no extracharge if your Appliance is readilyaccessible for service, without specialequipment and subject to theseterms and conditions, repair orreplace any parts which it considersto be defective. Electrolux or its ASCmay use remanufactured parts torepair your Appliance. You agree thatany replaced Appliances or partsbecome the property of Electrolux.This warranty does not apply to lightglobes, batteries, filters or similarperishable parts.

4. Parts and Appliances not supplied byElectrolux are not covered by thiswarranty.

5. To the extent permitted by law, youwill bear the cost of transportation,travel and delivery of the Applianceto and from Electrolux or its ASC. Ifyou reside outside of the servicearea, you will bear the cost of:a) travel of an authorised

representative;b) transportation and delivery of the

Appliance to and from Electroluxor its ASC.

In all instances, unless the Applianceis transported by Electrolux or anAEG authorised representative, theAppliance is transported at theowner’s cost and risk while in transitto and from Electrolux or its ASC.

6. Proof of purchase is required beforeyou can make a claim under thiswarranty.

7. You may not make a claim under thiswarranty unless the defect claimed isdue to faulty or defective parts orworkmanship. Electrolux is not liablein the following situations (which arenot exhaustive):a) the Appliance is damaged by:

– accident

– misuse or abuse, includingfailure to properly maintain orservice

– normal wear and tear– power surges, electrical storm

damage or incorrect powersupply

– incomplete or improperinstallation

– incorrect, improper orinappropriate operation

– insect or vermin infestation– failure to comply with any

additional instructionssupplied with the Appliance;

b) the Appliance is modifiedwithout authority from Electroluxin writing;

c) the Appliance’s serial number orwarranty seal has been removedor defaced;

d) the Appliance was serviced orrepaired by anyone other thanElectrolux, an authorised repaireror ASC.

8. This warranty, the contract to which itrelates and the relationship betweenyou and Electrolux are governed bythe law applicable where theAppliance was purchased. Where theAppliance was purchased in NewZealand for commercial purposes theConsumer Guarantee Act does notapply.

9. To the extent permitted by law andsubject to your non-excludablestatutory rights and warranties, AEGexcludes all warranties and liabilities(other than as contained in thisdocument) including liability for anyloss or damage whether direct orindirect arising from your purchase,use or non use of the Appliance.

10. For AEG Appliances and services inAustralia, the Appliances come with aguarantee that cannot be excluded

under the ACL. You are entitled to areplacement or refund for a majorfailure and for compensation for anyother reasonably foreseeable loss ordamage. You are also entitled tohave the Appliance repaired orreplaced if the Appliance fails to beof acceptable quality and the failuredoes not amount to a major failure.The benefits to you given by thiswarranty are in addition to your otherrights and remedies under a law inrelation to the Appliances or servicesto which the warranty relates.

11. At all times during the WarrantyPeriod, Electrolux shall, at itsdiscretion, determine whether repair,replacement or refund will apply if anAppliance has a valid warranty claimapplicable to it.

12. For Appliances and services providedin New Zealand, the Appliancescome with a guarantee pursuant tothe provisions of the ConsumerGuarantees Act, the Sale of GoodsAct and the Fair Trading Act.

13. To enquire about claiming under thiswarranty, please follow these steps:a) carefully check the operating

instructions, user manual and theterms of this warranty;

b) have the model and serialnumber of the Applianceavailable;

c) have the proof of purchase (e.g.an invoice) available;

d) telephone the numbers shownbelow.

14. You accept that if you make awarranty claim, Electrolux and itsASC may exchange information inrelation to you to enable Electroluxto meet its obligations under thiswarranty.

Before calling for service, please ensure that the steps listed in clause 13 above have beenfollowed.
