L da Silva RD, K Berris, J Chen RD, A Cormier RD, O Curl, C Edmunds RD, T Kafka RD, C Lau, R Sandhu RD, S Tsang

Why this project? Objective:

“To compare the vitamin D, calcium, folate and magnesium content of dietitian-prescribed Enteral

Nutrition with their Dietary Reference Intake targets. “

1989 charts

400 charts were randomly selected

128 charts had a prescription for Isosource HN® and 66 for Resource 2.0®

Micronutrient content was analyzed in Excel® for Vitamin D, Calcium, Folate and Magnesium

IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE

CONCLUSION1. Risk of deficiencies 2. Unknown implication of exceeding the UL

for magnesium 3. Awareness of micronutrient composition 4. Inform need for supplementation

REFLECTIONSof a FH research intern

FUTURE DIRECTION1. Oh the places you’ll go!2. Look at the remaining micronutrients3. Look into more formulas, BMI categories…
