funding needs.
• Work to engage these prospects.
• Assist with solicitation efforts, ensuring
funding requests are created according
to prospect-defined criteria.
• Facilitate stewardship cycle, including
post-award administration, recognition,
and feedback.

Advancement Services• Provide you with up-to-date contact
information for alumni, friends
and donors, which can be used for
fundraising appeal letters, e-mails, or
newsletters.
• Assign distinct “appeal codes” to appeal
letters for successful tracking of gifts.
• Process gifts appropriately so that donors
promptly receive a tax receipt.
• Provide reports that track appeals, funds,
and campaigns.

Planned Giving• Provide information and personalized gift
illustrations for bequests and life-income
options that support EMU.
• Provide stewardship to planned giving
donors through the Heritage Society
where donors are recognized for their
qualified planned gifts.
• Distribute the Legacy Planner three times
a year, which provides planned giving
information.

Annual FundAnnual Giving• Engage alumni, donors, and friends
through fundraising appeal letters and e-mails.
• Assist in the process of engaging alumni.• Work to tailor departmental fundraising
appeals.
Phone Center• Student callers contact donors and
alumni, updating them on developments in specific areas and asking them to make gifts to support the colleges.
• Give donors the thanks they deserve by having EMU students make thank you calls.
• EMU students will also make follow-up calls to those who received an appeal from your area, but haven’t responded with a gift.

Donor Relations• Prepare thank you letters for donors who
make a gift of $100 or more.
• Notify your deans and department heads
of gifts over $100 so they, too, can send a
thank you.
• Ensure major donors receive information
such as invitations to events, scholarship
profiles, and endowment reports.
• Recognize donors at different levels of
giving through our gift societies.
• Provide general donor relations services
for donors who have questions or issues.
