North East Initiative for Integrated DevelopmentICSI adopted North East for need based Education, Skills Development, Vocational, Train the Trainer, Capacity Building, Digital Literacy, Tourism Development with the focus on Employment and Entrepreneurship.

Service sector is the lifeline for the socio-economic growth of a country especially in the North East Region of India with its difficult terrain. The NER’s economy benefits from its geographical location as it prospers on services provided by industries like tourism, hospitality, travel etc.

Between 2011 and 2021, the NE region will have close to 17 million job seekers and only 2.6 million jobs, according to a report by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and the consultancy PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The importance of skilling youth in India is imperative to its growth in economy. The demand gap curve is highlighted by the Boston Consulting Group’s 2020 estimate of India having a surplus of 47 million active population (15-59 years), and McKinsey Group’s study reflecting a shortfall of 45 million workers in other developing countries, whereas 95 million workers would be needed in developed countries. India has a target to skill/upskill 500 million people by 2022. It requires an estimated 70,000 highly skilled Trainers now and 20,000 additional Trainers each year. Education, Vocational Training and other forms of learning are essential for achieving smart, sustainable and inclusive growth of the Society especially in Tribal and Rural areas of India. It has been estimated that around half of all jobs in 2020 will require a medium-level qualification, which will often be achieved by some form of Vocational Trainings. Therefore, it is essential to understand the significance of vocational training programs to strengthen the youth of India and to make them employable. ICSI is dedicated to developing quality Human Capital for the overall Service Industry and other economic activities and employment generation with its Mission of Education and skills development with Employment.

ICSI with its skills partner, Galaxy Finishing School (GSFS) aims to provide vocational training programs for youth particularly of SC/ST/OBC background from socio-economic deprived areas leading towards employment and entrepreneurship. With its concept of Finishing School, we aim to focus on fixing the 3Es of Innovative Education, Direct Employment and Entrepreneurship. We have established the First Finishing School in the North East Region at Guwahati, Assam. The organisation strives to uplift the area and extends its knowledge and support in establishing a network of Finishing Schools across the region to impart Life Management Skills, Personality Development, Technical Competencies and Soft Skills to the youth.
