Employee RightsIndividuals with disabilities are protected from discrimination in employment primarily by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Rehabilitation Act. The Department of Labor's !ce of Disability "mployment #olicy (D"#) provides information about these laws. $owever% D"# does not enforce these laws.The Department of Labor's !ce of &ederal 'ontract 'ompliance #ro(rams (&''#) enforces )ection *+, of the Rehabilitation Act% which re-uires federal contractors and subcontractors with (overnment contracts in e.cess of /0+%+++ to ta1e a!rmative action to employ and advance in employment -uali2ed individuals with disabilities. Additionally% &''# has coordinatin( authority under Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act% which prohibits 3ob discrimination by employers a(ainst -uali2ed individuals with disabilities. The "-ual "mployment pportunity 'ommission (""') has primary authority for enforcin( the employment4related provisions of theADA% which are found in Title I. 5ost (overnment contractors are covered by both )ection *+, and Title I of the ADA.also enforces the 6ietnam "ra 6eterans' Read3ustment Assistance Act (6"6RAA). )ome disabled veterans are covered under this law.
