TO PREPARE FOR SCHOOL:

• Please have three material masks for your child. Label them clearly so that your

child cannot lose it at school. They must wear one mask, one mask in the

plastic bag and the other one at home.

• Please send one box of tissues and one hand sanitizer with your child to school.

• Ensure that the learners bring the correct stationery to school.

• Learners must bring their lunch, pencil bags, etc. in a plastic bag (N0 SCHOOL BAGS). It is

easy to sanitize the plastic bags before they go into the classrooms. The

learners will keep their pencil bags at school to prevent the spreading of

germs.

BEFORE SCHOOL:

• Children who show any symptoms of Covid-19 should be kept at home.

• Where possible, we ask the parents to take their children’s temperatures at home.

Temperatures of above 38 degrees Celsius will not be allowed entry to the school.

• Learners must wear their masks before entering the school premises.

• Learners must wear their masks throughout the school day.

DAILY ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE PROCEDURE:

• The teachers will be at the gate by 07:15

• Classes will commence promptly at 08:00. Please ensure that your child is at school before 07:45 to allow adequate time for screening

• The learners will sanitize their hands at the entrance at drop-off and collection.

• The Class Teacher will await the learners at the class door and will sanitize the

learners’ hands and plastic bags before entering the classroom.

• PARENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE SCHOOL PREMISES UNLESS BY INVITATION.

• All learners are to be collected promptly at the allocated dismissal times for their own safety and to ensure social distancing.

• The maintenance staff needs to clean the school and there is no safe place for the learners

to wait after school.

AT SCHOOL:

• Learners must wear a mask at all times.

• Learners have an area in class that is demarcated.

• Learners will not be moved between classes. They will remain in one class

for the duration of the day.

• A maximum of 13 learners per class.

• All staff and learners are screened daily before being allowed access to the premises

• The school encourages disclosure by families and staff with Covid-19 illnesses to the Principal

to permit contact tracing without fear of stigma or discrimination.

• School will identify and prepare a dedicated isolation area.

• Sanitizer will be provided at the entrance to each classroom.

• Learners must refrain from hugging, play wrestling, or any other close contact. Rather nod,

wave or smile as ways of greeting.

• School is to promote physical distancing for all learners and staff in the school.

• All assemblies, gatherings or sporting competitions will be cancelled till further notice.

• Learners are to alert staff if they develop symptoms or have had contact with an individual

with a confirmed infection of Covid-19.

• Cleaning staff will regularly clean frequently used surfaces including door handles, doorknobs,

light switches, tables, countertops, desks, phones, keyboards, taps and sinks.

BREAKS:

• All classes will have a 15-minute break.

• The teacher will sanitize the learners’ hands before they take out their lunch.

• The class teacher will take the class to an allocated area where there are clear markings

(daisies) for each learner to sit

• After break the learners will walk back to class 1,5 meters apart.

• The class teacher will sanitize each child’s hands at the door before entering the classroom.

• Learners walk in and sit down.

ASSESSMENTS:

• We have received a Revised Curriculum and ATP’s to be taught over the next few months.

• Upon returning learners will write a baseline assessment for English and Mathematics based on term one concepts. Please note these assessments will be for diagnostic purposes only.

• Certain Fridays will be reserved for assessments. Dates will be communicated.

We as a team will try our best and we will reach for the stars. We are here to assist you every step of the way and will do our best to ensure

that your child gains maximum benefit from their time at school. Most importantly, we will do our best to protect them the best we can.
