Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee Direct: [email protected] www.emanjazz.com 415-250-2622 Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee began playing bass at age 12 and was soon performing throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. By age 16 he had performed with Bay Area greats Bruce Foreman, Ed Kelly, Noel Jewkes, Erestes Vilato, Vince Latiano, Randy Vincent, and many others. After being awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College Music he headed to Boston to pursue his musical studies. After graduating Cum Laude form Berklee, Emmanuel returned to the Bay Area where he is currently keeping busy performing, teaching, recording and composing. He has performed with many of the most respected and notable names in jazz including Joe Lovano, John Abercrombie, Danilo Perez, Mary Stallings, Dave Samuels, George Garzone, Joanne Brackeen, Donald “Duck” Bailey, Hal Crook, Darren Barrett, Mark Levine, Erik Gravatt, Alan Broadbent, Mark Turner and many others. In 2002 Emmanuel released his self produced debut recording as a leader “Previous Misconceptions” which waswell received and was featured on the May 2002 issue of the Jazziz Magazine sampler CD. He has performed throughout North America at many major festivals and venues including The San Francisco Jazz Festival, The Monterey Jazz Festival, The JVC Jazz Festival, The Boston Globe Jazz Fest, IAJE, The Russian River Jazz Festival, The Healdsburg Jazz Festival, Jazz at the Kennedy Center, The Blue Note, Yoshis, The Jazz Bakery and many others. Since returning to the San Francisco Bay Area Emmanuel has performed, toured and recorded with many Bay Area and NYC based musicians and groups including Lavay Smith and the Red Hot Skillit Lickers, Eddie Marshall, Jeremy Pelt, Mike Zilber, Michael Bluestein, Scott Amendola, Jaz Sawyer, Babatude Lea, Lionel Louke, Justin Morell, Mark Ferber, Alan Ferber, Albert Sanz, Andre Sumelius, Jackie Naylor, Andre Hayward, Dave Mac Nab, Dayna Stephens, Erik Jekabson, Matt Clark, Akira Tana and many others. Emmanuel recently went into the studio and recorded his secondCD “Borrowed Time”. The CD features saxophonist’s Mark Turner and Dayna Stephens, trumpeter Erik Jekabson, pianist Albert Sanz and drummer Ferenc Nemeth. Look for the CD later this year or early 2005.

Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee began playing bass at age 12 and was soon performing throughout the SanFrancisco Bay Area.
