Disaster Recovery Services

In 2005, Metric managed over $100 million in emergency contracts for the Florida Department of Transportation related to disaster events. Maguire has provided similar services to many of our cli-ents through on-call contracts and emergency services contracts.

Part of these services include the crucial experience both firms have learned in advising clients on how to prepare for and respond to disaster in ways that are funding-reimbursable – i.e., the methods, procedures and mechanisms the government and federal agencies require for reimbursement when disasters are declared. With the costs of our services eligible for reimbursement through FEMA and FHWA grant programs, we help towns and entities plan for and recover every eligible disaster-related dollar they qualify for from the appropriate federal agency involved in disaster recovery.

Natural disasters can generate an enormous volume of debris in a short period of time. Debris clearance, removal, and disposal operations must be implemented quickly in order to expedite recovery operations, and to protect public health and safety.

Pre-Storm / Event:

• Identify the potential types and quantities of debris by storm type, strength and impact area

• Identify temporary debris storage and reduction sites

• Develop a debris management plan

• Assist local governments with developing and implement-ing mutual aid agreements

• Develop scopes of work/specifications for debris operations

• Develop and implement a public information management program

• Establish contracting procedures

Post-Storm / Event:

• Manage debris removal program

• Apply GIS technology to provide real-time visualization in managing debris removal from affected sites

• Produce debris maps / reports as part of FEMA reporting

• Provide loading and dump site debris monitors

• Federal, state and local government coordination
