Birthdays & Anniversaries
50th Wedding Anniversary!
Pastor Ed and Shirley will be celebrating their 50th
wedding anniversary on December 17th of this year. May the
Lord continue to bless you both!
We celebrate with you
The golden years of life,
That day you came together
To join as husband and wife
The Lord has walked with you
Through every precious year
As you have trusted in His Word
And gone to Him in prayer
And He'll still walk with you
As each new year unfolds
A future filled with blessings
And abundant grace untold.

A Word from the Pastor Here in Emanuel’s Christian Church at the beginning
of this autumn season, we are reflecting on God’s
process of growth toward maturity. As the farmers
are gathering in the natural fruit of their labors, just
so the spiritual fruit of our transition time is being harvested. Our
purpose and vision of being “followers of Christ committed to
glorifying God in all we do through love, prayer, teaching, and
serving” is being brought to focus through leadership who know their
calling to function as coaches to this faithful flock of the body of
Christ.
Just as the Apostles in Acts 6, recognized certain disciples who were
“of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom” to do the daily
work among the believers, so your Council has asked elders and
deacons to oversee the various areas of ministry at ECC. Those who
have accepted this call of God are: Jeff Brown—Worship; Judy
Roehrig—Fellowship; Matt Westrick—Evangelism and Missions; Rex
Baldwin—Education; and Krista Payne—Stewardship.
We rejoice with those three who shared their testimonies and desired
to publicly proclaim their belief in Jesus Christ with the believer’s
baptism in water—Natalie Taylor, Jeff Brown, and Krista Payne. We
also celebrated the rite of infant baptism and dedication of little
Wyatt Eugene, born March 4, 2016, son of Luke and Amy Brubaker.
May he grow in grace and serve the Lord well as he continues to grow
in stature.
The Pastoral Search Committee, composed of Jeff Brown, Cliff Wolf,
Judy Roehrig, Tom Taylor, and Krista Payne, has begun the search for
our new shepherd. Fifty persons (or more) of all ages are committed
to pray 5 days each week for the person God has already chosen for
us. We are praying that the Lord will move upon the heart of this
pastor and family to hear and recognize this call of God.
Let us therefore, continue to pray, not only for our church, people,
community, but for our nation to be guided by the sovereign hand of
God for His purpose and glory.
Pastor Joe
Evangelism and Missions Missions kick-off meeting will be held on

Church. All are welcome to attend, and find out
about local and Kentucky Missions. Anyone who
is interested in finding out more please stop out.

Steeple 2 Steeple 5K October 28 is the third annual Steeple 2 Steeple
5k. This year it will be held in Holgate, starting
at the football field, and running through-21
town, and ending back at the football field.
Along with the 5k there is a 2 mile walk, and a "Superhero
Dash" at half time for the kids to enjoy. Face painting, raffle
baskets, and glow sticks are all part of the special night. There
will be a chili dinner and bake sale, sponsored by the Holgate
CC teams, for a free will donation. This is a superhero theme to
support our local super hero Layne Knapp. All money will be
donated to Layne to help with whatever the family may need to
care for him and make his life more enjoyable. The race starts at
5:00 pm and this is also Senior Night for the Holgate Students,
so come out for a great cause, and stay to support our senior
Andrew Cain! Thank you for all your donations, prayers, and
help with the 5k!
If you know a family that could use assistance, please let a
member of SIS know. We can also be reached at:
Or via snail mail:

We will do our best to help!
Project We Care Project We Care is well underway and we are
already receiving applications. Last year we served
900 Children and 338 Families from Henry County!
We are reaching out in new ways this year and are hoping to
help even more families in need. If you are interested in
sponsoring a family, please talk to Maggie Westrick or Cheryl
Smith. If you are interested in helping deliver gifts to families
(typically the week of Christmas) please see Maggie or Natalie
Taylor. This program is such a blessing to the area, and we are
blessed each year by the gratefulness of the applicants. Please
pray for Project We Care and the ladies who handle this
program, it often becomes so heavy for us to see such need in
our area. Also, please pray for the clients of Project We Care.
One day it would be amazing not to need programs like this.
Thank you all for all your prayers and support.
New-2-You Shoes Please help spread the word about the "New to you
shoes"! We have a great selection of shoes and it is
free to anyone who comes to get them. We are so
excited to have this opportunity to serve the community and
we are praying that each time we get a donation that those
shoes go to the right child. If you have donated, thank you so
very much. If you know of someone who needs shoes, please
spread the word. Keep an eye on the bulletin for the next
distribution date.
Christmas Cheer Ministry From October 15th through December 6th, the
Henry County Christmas Cheer Board of Trustees
would appreciate our collection of any canned
goods (NOT home-canned), dry goods and paper
products. These items will be assembled into baskets and will
be distributed to those who are in need and return an
application. A collection box will be labeled and placed in the
back of the church for donations.

you have an idea that would help an existing class or an idea
for a new class? Please feel free to share your questions and
thoughts with Rex Baldwin.

during the worship service. If you have an idea for a lesson or

Youth Youth Sunday is November 20th. This year the
youth would like to change it up and instead of
running the worship service, they would like to
treat you to a homemade brunch. There will be a
free will donation taken and the proceeds will go toward the
Project We Care Family that the youth sponsor for this
Christmas season. We would love to see you there and we
would love to serve you.
We have also been studying the Sermon on the Mount. It has
been a slow process, but we are certain that the kids are
learning. It is so important to us that we are able to reach them
and help them understand the Bible on a personal level, not
just on an instructional level. Hopefully your children have been
talking with you about what they have learned.

News from Church Council Welcome FALL! I hope you all are well as we
begin another season at Emanuel's. The
Council at Emanuel’s Christian Church
continues to be busy!
Work on the bell tower louvers is finally complete. Mark
Westrick also did some brick pointing while he had access to
the lift. More work on this front must be done next year.
Many transition team and council members have been
devoting their time serving on the Search Team. We meet with
Pastor Joe every Tuesday evening, but also spend time during
the week in prayer and contemplation as we strive to GLORIFY
GOD in all we do. I ask for your prayers for the church—that we
have eyes to see and ears to hear what the Lord is calling us to
do. Last week we completed our advertisement for a pastor,
and it is now posted on the Evangelical Association’s website:
http://evangelicalassociation.net/earccc/employment/. We look
forward to reviewing the applicants as they submit their
resumes. Your search team members are: Jeff Brown, Krista
Payne, Judy Roehrig, Tom Taylor, and Cliff Wolf. Let them know
if you have questions or concerns.
Through His strength and guidance, may we accomplish much
for His Kingdom and glory!
Your sister in Christ,
~Krista Payne, Church Council President

Worship Song for November Check out November’s *NEW* worship song
Fierce By: Jesus Culture
Featuring: Chris Quilala
Before I call
Before I ever cry
You answer me
From where the thunder hides
I can't outrun
This heart I'm tethered to
When every step
I collide with You
Like a tidal wave
Crashing over me
Rushing in to meet me here
Your love is fierce
Like a hurricane
That I can't escape
Tearing through the atmosphere
Your love is fierce
You cannot fail
The only thing I've found
Is through it all
You never let me down
You don't hold back
Relentless in pursuit
At every turn
I come face to face with You
Like a tidal wave
Crashing over me
Rushing in to meet me here
Your love is fierce
Like a hurricane
That I can't escape
Tearing through the atmosphere
Your love is fierce
You surround me
You chase me down
You seek me out
How can I be lost
When You have called me found
You chase me down
You seek me out
How can I be lost
When You have called me found
You chase me down
You seek me out
How can I be lost
When You have called me found
Like a tidal wave
Crashing over me
Rushing in to meet me here
Your love is fierce
Like a hurricane
That I can't escape
Tearing through the atmosphere
His love is fierce
Your love is fierce
You never let go
Your love is fierce
Even now You surround me
Your love is fierce
Always always
His love is fierce
