Working With Children’s Check (WWCC) Mandatory Requirement for all Volunteers at WSPS in 2017 At the commencement of 2017 school year it will be a requirement for all volunteers to have a WWCC when at school. This will be a blanket requirement. I have confirmed this requirement with a WWCC officer in Sydney on 24.11.16 who states this is Best Practice. The good news is that a WWCC for volunteers is free! I have added two hyperlinks to make this process as easy and painless as possible. You can apply online. You will be required to show your WWCC at the office where a copy will be kept on record. All Department of Education teachers and staff will be required to have a paid WWCC in 2017. Celebration Night Final Reminders

If you have paid for Celebration Night tickets you will receive them via your child with this

Tallong.

Celebration Night will be held this Wednesday evening at Wests City, corner of King and Union

Street at 6.30pm sharp.

Entry is by ticket only.

Kindergarten and Year 1 to meet their teachers in Auditorium 2 and Yrs 2-6 meet teachers in Auditorium 1.

Please ensure if your child requires medication of any sort that you bring it with you to the auditorium.

The evening will commence at 6.30 sharp with the end of year DVD. The band will be playing in the foyer from 5.40-6.00pm., the choir will be singing from 6.05-6.15pm inside Auditorium 1. You must be seated by 6.25, doors close at 6.30.

There will be an opportunity for Kinder and Year 1 parents if they wish to leave the auditorium and collect their children to go home. Parents will not be able to re-enter the auditorium once they have left.

At the end of the night, children are not to leave without an adult to supervise them and they have had their name marked off the Class List by the teacher in charge of their class for the evening.

If you are parents/friends of children in either Kinder or Year One you are able to collect your

child from Auditorium 2 to take them home after the announcement of school leaders. This is

encouraged as it is a long time for the children to wait after such a hectic day. Please remember

that once you have left the auditorium, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RE ENTER with your

child.

No food or drink other than water is allowed in the auditorium. This is what we also ask of the

children.

If you have little children or toddlers with you, please ensure they remain in their seat with you

the ENTIRE time.

Parents/children must not stand up the back behind the classes or near the back doors as this is

a restricted zone for WH&S requirements. Extra security from the venue will be provided to ensure

these areas remain clear of people at all times. This is for the safety and comfort of all people.

Parents with prams please do not obstruct doorways, particularly the back doors where class

groups need to move through at various times throughout the evening.

For child protection reasons, toilets in Auditorium 2 are for Kinder and Year One use only.

Please use the facilities in the main auditorium if needed.

As it is a licensed club, you will need to sign in at the door and show identification, please allow time for this.

No photography or filming of any kind from any device is allowed. Please adhere to this very important rule. The privacy and safety of ALL our children is paramount.

When you are leaving, please connect with your child’s teacher and have his/her name marked off the roll. This ensures that no one is lost or left behind.

Above all, enjoy yourselves as you celebrate the talents and achievements of each of the amazing

children at WSPS!

Upside Down Christmas Tree

We would like to thank the Wallsend South community your generosity toward the many charities you have helped us support this year. As the Christmas season is once again upon us, we would like to extend that generosity to the many families in our local community who are less fortunate. For that reason we have put up our ‘Upside Down’ Christmas tree in the school foyer. Attached to the tree are gift tags for girls and boys of various ages. If you would like to donate, please take a gift tag, purchase a gift for that child, wrap it with the tag attached and send it back to school by Friday 9th December. We will then deliver the gifts to a local charity. Thank you for your kind support.

LIBRARY NEWS

Please return your library books!

Thank you to everyone who has returned their library books. We appreciate your assistance as we prepare for our end of year clean up.

We are sending home overdue notes (yellow slip) this week as a final reminder to the small number of people who still need to return their books. Please remember to write any information on the slip and hand to Mrs Chapman if books cannot be located. This helps clarify the situation and allows us to proceed with the best course of action.

Thank you,

Library Teachers
