Another month has passed very quickly, with 7 Clubs visited in August. All the Clubs visited all seem to have the same problem. They have not put their new constitutions into the Dept. of Commerce and now have until June 2019 to get it done. If you do not have all the information you require, please contact PDG Alan Hawkins (last years CBL chairman) or our current CBL Lawrie Carr. Details in the diary. It is disappointing to see that 23 clubs have NOT DONE their MMR reports for August. Because of this, we do not know what our correct District membership numbers are. I know there are new secretary’s, so if you need help, please contact our Cabinet Secretary Margaret Amm. Just from the clubs I have visited, there are new members there who have not been put onto the MyLCI site. This problem also applies to the Club’s Activity reports. There are 28 Clubs who have not completed any Activity Reports this year. Please I would like to see 100% of clubs doing this each month by the end of December this year. When I see these results, it shows that not all officers have attended the Incoming Officers Forums. Please ensure all Club officers attend the training days next May. No accurate membership numbers can be given at the moment due to the above. Can Clubs please get all reports and new members put onto the MyLCI site please. I had filled two of the three cabinet positions that were vacant, but now it is still two positions. After returning home from the first Cabinet Meeting, I found our District Cake Chairman had resigned. If you would like to take on this position, please make contact with myself. The Zone 3 Chairman is still to be filled. My first Cabinet meeting was last weekend at Myalup. There was a great turn out of a majority of the cabinet officers. Family issues and one member away only reduced the numbers very slightly. The executive decided to change our bank due to issues we were having and we are in the process of this happening. We had discussion on all the training dates coming up, the first is mid September in Narrogin and Dryandra . night socialising and trying to seewho won the 3 different quizzes thatCBL Lawrie ran.

The Zone Chairpersons (notchairmen anymore) had theirmeeting Saturday afternoon with aninformation session to help the newzonies get started. ZCC PeterKenneday is only too happy to helpand come to Club meetings with theZC.

The Cabinet meeting on Sundaywent well. Most officers had theirreports in on time and could be readon our district website before themeeting. It was decided to go aheadand order new district pins and revertback to the “Swan” pin that we had acouple of years back. This will nowstay as our district pin and you willbe advised when they arrive. Thevenue for the next Cabinet meetinghas reverted back to Myalup due toaccommodation not being available

at the Flying Angel Club. This was amajority vote by the cabinet officers. After our meeting finished, we had ourguest PDG Ann Eldridge (NationalGlobal Membership Chairman) give apresentation on membership and thedifferent ways to attract new membersand start new clubs. PDG Ann is alsoa guest speaker at our convention inOctober.

I can advise that the ALF nationalfundraising target appeal for $500,000for the drought stricken farmers willvery possibly be reached. It was greatto see the large number of haytrucks(100) that were going toaffected areas on the TV tonight andALF will advise the final total shortly .

Please keep in mind in March 2019,we will celebrate the National LionsAwareness Day and you will receiveinformation in the coming monthsabout how we can celebrate the dayand help to increase the knowledge

of non -members about Lions andattract new members. OurMarketing/Publicity ChairmanStephen Berry has just returnedfrom a training session in Sydneyand will no doubt have more ideasfor you soon.

Talking about Convention don’tforget to register and get youraccommodation. We have a veryspecial main Guest Speaker, PastInternational President BarryPalmer from Australia. PIP BarryPalmer is a great leader and I knowyou will all enjoy listening to him,so please get your registrations in.

Also, please send all your storieson the projects your Clubs are doingso that the District knows. You allhave special projects and we wouldlike to hear about them.

Webmaster’s Tip of

the Month

Time to talk a bit about Facebook thismonth. Is your club making the mostof its Facebook pages? As well as the main page whereinformation is posted, don’t forget to make use of the Eventspage as well. What could you use it for? Think about:

· Your meetings – let people know when/where/who tocontact

· Upcoming activities – sausage sizzles, markets, information sessions … just about anything you aredoing that you want the public to know about

Do you have an up to date description in the ‘About’ sectionof your FB page?

Are you using photos that will capture attention, or betterstill, short video clips? Research shows that posts withphotos do better than those with only text; and posts withvideos get the most hits, likes and shares. Do you haverelevant photos for both your page banner and your profile?

Don’t forget also that Lions Australia has put together a socialmedia policy statement that all clubs using Facebook shouldbe familiar with. You can also access this by clicking on thelink in the Member Resources page of the District Website toaccess this (you will need to log in to the Member sectionfirst). This is a common sense guide to using social mediawisely.

Congrats to all those clubs using Facebook regularly. And ifyou don’t feel you have any new club material to post, checkout what Lions in WA have been posting and feel free toshare or like; search other clubs, Lions foundations, LionsAustralia, Lions international … and the list goes on. Keepingyour page active is the key to getting results: social mediaworks if it is regularly updated and linked to community.
