Email Terms• Domain name is what follows @ in an email
address–@iCloud.com–@aol.com–@gmail.com
• Apple Mail and Microsoft Outlook are software (apps) of the type “email client.”
• Webmail = use your browser to access email

Trash v. Junk
• Trash is your wastebasket. Move messages there when no longer useful.
• Junk = Spam
Populated 2 ways:Your provider labels message as junk/spam.You label a message as junk.
Can set up for automatic emptying of Junk Folder. • Labeling a spam message as “junk” is preferable
to merely deleting it.

Email TermsArchive v. Delete• Archive is a background setting that
moves discarded messages to a storage locker called Archive rather than to a trash can.
• Sometimes Archive is the default, especially with Gmail accounts
• You can turn off Archive.

Email Setup – Multiple accounts or computers
It’s a personal choice. You can either
•Set up each email account on each computer and device you use.
OR•Appoint one email account as the captain and have it collect messages from all other accounts.

Managing Optional Mailboxes – “On My Mac”
Be aware that mailboxes you create and store under the header “On My Mac” rather than under the account title will not sync with the provider’s server. That is, some backup and access opportunities may be wasted.
