I love teaching and my goal for you is to be even more
successful than you already are! I recently graduated from the
University of Montevallo with a bachelors degree in elementary
education. I am currently working on my masters. I have a wonderful
husband and a three year old daughter, Carly. We currently reside
in Calera, Al. My hobbies include spending time with family and
friends, scrapbooking, reading, and watching Alabama Football! Roll

You should 1.place your belongings in your assigned cubby.
2.Place daily take home folder in designated bucket 3.Complete the

Money Procedures All money should be placed in a sealed
envelope or a Ziploc bag with your name and its purpose printed on
it. Your money envelope will stay in your take home folder. I will
collect envelopes when I check folders daily. Parents: Checks have
to include DL #, telephone, and address (no PO box).

Letters from home/paperwork/ forms Letters from
home/paperwork/forms should all be in your daily take home folder.
You should place your take home folder in the designated area
during the morning routine.

Attendance I will be able to check attendance by the daily data
chart. You will complete the daily data chart during your morning
routine. Students please understand that your attendance is very
important to your learning! If you are tardy always check in with
the office first.

End of the day 1.Clean up your area and place all class
materials in their designated areas. 2.You will get your daily take
home folder and place it in your backpack. 3.Be sure you have a
book from your just right bucket. 4.Stay seated quietly in your
chair until it is your time to leave.

Homework Expectations Students will be required to read at
least one book/chapter a night. At times students may be required
to study for something specific such as multiplication facts,
words/word patterns, or a take home project. Your parent should
sign your daily take home folder every night. This is how I know
you completed the assignment(s).

Make-up work If you have a valid excuse you may make your work
up. In class projects cant be made up. All work and directions will
be in your take home folder. Do NOT come to me asking if we did
anything yesterday! Everything we do is important and we will
always be doing something!

Student Recognition Superstar When you show your best behavior
and follow rules not only in the classroom but also outside of the
classroom, you will be rewarded!!! When I observe this awesome
behavior I will reward the student with the purple stick. There can
be more than one purple stick given at a time. At the end of the
day, student(s) with purple sticks will get a treasure box
prize!

Student Birthdays Birthdays will be celebrated if permitted by
parents. The class and I will sing the Happy Birthday Song. The
student will get to wear a very special birthday ribbon throughout
the day. At the end of the day students will be allowed to give the
birthday child a present. Special foods may be brought from home,
but all food must adhere by school policy. Please be cautious of
allergies. Allergies will be posted in the classroom beside the
breakfast/lunch menu, and they are also posted on my website.

Medication Procedures Your parent should complete all necessary
forms and turn them in. It is school policy that all medication be
administered by the school nurse. Medications will only be
administered at the designated time All medications must be taken
to the school nurses office before you enter the classroom.

Classroom Visitors Visitors are always welcome! There will be
many fun opportunities for parents and others to volunteer. As
teachers, we can always use an extra pair of hands. For each event
there will be sign ups posted on the class website and/or on the
classroom door. All visitors must abide by school policy and check
in/out procedures.

Classroom Rules 1.Respect others and their belongings. 2.Keep
hands, feet, and all other objects to yourself 3.Follow directions
the first time they are given. 4.Listen carefully 5.Be
POSITIVE!

Student Rewards and Recognition Superstar Good behavior is
expected by me and will be rewarded! Each student will begin with
three dice on his/her desk at the beginning of each day. When a
student misbehaves they loose a die. If student looses all three
dice then he/she will move card to yellow, and the parent will get
a note sent home. If you have all three dice at the end of the day
then you will get one skittle. If your card stays on green for five
straight days you will get a parent lunch, choose your student job
for the next week, or get a prizes from the treasure box.

onsequences If student has zero die at the end of the day and
his/her card has moved to yellow there will be a note sent home to
the parent. If on the second you loose all three dice again your
card will be moved to red. This means I will parent conference.
Bullying, fighting, or any severe behaviors will not be tolerated
and you will be sent to the principle.

Building a Better Solution When you have a behavior problem or
make a mistake in the classroom you will complete the Building a
Better Solution Form. This will help you solve the problem. You,
your parent, and I will sign the form. You are to turn the form in
to me by 7:30 the next morning.

The Peace Bench If you and someone else has a problem that
needs to be addressed you MAY NOT address it in the classroom. You
and this person will solve your problems outside of the classroom
on the peace bench! You have 5 minutes on the bench.

How will my parents know about my behavior? Each students
behavior chart along with a behavior summary will be sent home
weekly on Friday. This MUST be signed by a parent. If there is a
behavior problem that requires the parents immediate attention a
phone call may be made, an email sent, or a written letter sent
home on the day the behavior occurred depending upon the severity
of the behavior.

Group Work Recognition: Each group will have a bean bucket. If
you are working hard and doing exactly what you are supposed to I
will put a bean in your bucket. If your group is not working and
misbehaving I will take a bean from your bucket. We will keep
tally- the team that has the most beans on Friday will receive a
quarter to spend on the gumball machine.

Gumball Machine The class gumball machine will contain extra
coupons. Examples You may have 15 extra minutes on the computer one
day this week. You may bring music for our class to listen to one
day this week. you may assist another teacher for 30 min. one day
this week.

Group or partner work alternate assignment If you choose not to
be great during this time you will have an alternate assignment. If
I see that you are choosing this I will simply point to this poster
and you are to go to your desk and begin the assignment. This will
be for a grade!

Partner Time! Shoulder partner- you will be partners with the
person that is shoulder to shoulder with you. Eye partner- you will
be partners with the person that sits directly across from you.
Appointment partner- you will have a different appointment partner
for a specific time period of the day. This is your appointment
schedule.

Small groups will consist of 3-4 students. During this time I
will work with individual groups. Small groups will meet during
reading and math block. Small Groups When Mrs. McKee is wearing a
pink boa this means I am working, and you may not interrupt me. You
may only interrupt me if you are Bleeding profusely About to potty
on yourself You or a classmate has a serious medical emergency

Early finishers If I have not informed you of a specific
assignment, then you are to read from your just right bucket. Seat
Work Noise Levels Students will be expected to keep the noise level
at a minimum. This will keep others from becoming distracted. Also
remember the Three before me rule.

Learning Centers Reading Centers Read to Self- students will
choose a comfortable spot inside the classroom to read a just right
book. Read to Someone- Students will read quietly to one another.
Listen to reading- students will listen to a book being read to
them fluently. Word Work- practicing forming words with
manipulatives. Work on Writing- time for students to write.
Computer Math Centers Math centers will vary upon specific material
being taught.

Center Procedures Noise should be kept at minimum. There should
only be whispers NO voices. 1.Look at the center chart and find
your picture. That will be the center you begin at. 2.When Mrs.
McKee gives the signal for your table to go, you may go to your
center. 3.When Mrs. McKee gives the next signal clean your center,
and move to the next. All center procedures are the same for all
subjects.

Computer Center You will use the computer during centers. You
will also be taking AR test on your library books. What am I
supposed to do if something goes wrong with my computer? Go to your
seat and read from your just right book bag.

Classroom Materials Students will have a bucket filled with
classroom materials needed for that day in the middle of their
group table. All materials must be put back just as they were
found. Please take care of materials because we will need them for
daily activities.

Lunch If you brought a lunch from home you may go straight to
your seat. If you are eating in the lunchroom: Each student will be
given a number. Even numbers will go to the right lunch line. Odd
numbers will go to the left lunch line. I understand lunch is a
great time to socialize, however keep in mind that we only have 20
minutes to eat lunch. Please do not waste time. You must sit in
number order Numbers 1-10 will sit on the right side Numbers11-18
will sit on the left side Leaving: Students 1-10 will line up and
go empty their trays. Then students 11- 18 will empty their trays
and line up behind them.

Bathroom and Water Fountain If you have an emergency raise your
hand and ask me. With my permission you may get the bathroom pass
and go. Procedures: Boys will line up beside the boys bathroom and
girls will line up beside the girls bathroom. Only three people at
a time are allowed in the bathroom. When someone comes out you may
go in. Once you are finished using the bathroom, washing your
hands, and getting water, line up (in number order) on the opposite
side of the hallway. Remember your line up procedures and student
rewards.

Coupons Students will receive all coupons in their goody bags
on the first day of school. You will not receive any more! Once
they are gone they are gone. You may use a coupon at any time but
remember we are in school for an entire year. Please use them
wisely. use them wisely.

Three Before Me If you have a question or concern you will ask
three classmates before you come to Mrs. McKee.

Line up procedures When we line up to leave the classroom you
will. Be very quiet Line up by number order (Line leader first and
caboose last) Your eyes should be looking at the back of the
persons head in front of you. Both feet should be facing forwards.
Never touch the wall.
