The Em-box is an accessory item that can be connected to Nilan's domestic system. An Em-box allows heat recovery from the range hood in the home. Em-box is available as a ceiling model that can be installed on either the left or right side of the range hood.

The Em-box uses the range hood for both basic ventilation and range hood extraction. When the range hood is switched off, the statutory air extraction in the kitchen takes place via the range hood. When the range hood starts, a damper in the range hood will open and the ventilation system will change the air volume setting to the maximum air exchange, ensuring balanced venti-lation while the range hood is running.

The Em-box maintains an unchanged adjusted air volume in the home, extracting the increased ventilation volume via the range hood.

When the range hood is switched off the damper in the range hood will close again, and the ventilation system will revert to the original air volume. The Em-box will continue to maintain the regulated air supply to the home.

If the Em-box cannot be optimally located, a range hood filter box can be used instead. The range hood filter box takes up less space and can be located adjacent to the range hood. The range hood filter box includes a DTbU damper that is placed in the extraction duct leading from the range hood.

The Em-box and range hood filter box are delivered as tested and ready for operation. Installation and commissioning must be performed by an authorised electrician.
