Interventions to Promote Pro-Social Behavior

• Strategies are focused on student engagement• Interventions occur over time, usually months or years• Interventions involve a component of parent involvement• Interventions should be strength based and involve a

variety of contexts

• Recruit, support, and value the roles of parents as: teachers, leaders, resources, decision makers, advocates and trainers of others

• Invite, encourage, and support parental/family involvement. Address specific parental needs by recognizing, respecting, and addressing cultural and class differences

• Set high expectations for your “partnership” with parents/families. Set High expectations and act upon those beliefs. Parents need to believe that the school truly does value them and the partnership.

• During the next few months I will be asking Coaches to share with our group some of their data and progress of teams as they move forward.

• Today Jennifer Leahy, Lauren Wilson, and Fran Bay are going to briefly share how they are helping teams move forward as they refine Action Plans.

As we look forward…

• Drill down into your data; Have you narrowed your focus and identified specific issues and possible solutions/interventions?

• Are you able to target our focus group?• What types of research based interventions are

you looking at that we can match to your specific needs?

• Determine training that may be needed to implement the interventions.
