All of the submissions will be printed in the XXIV Sobor Journal. Students are asked to submit their essays as a WORD document to our Diocesan Chancellor, Fr. Frank Miloro, via email, [email protected], no later than August 31. Names should not be included on the essays so that they can be judged without bias. September Food ’n CruzeSince our June Food ’n Cruzes were so successful, we will be holding another Food ’n Cruze to close out the summer season on Tuesday, September 17 from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM. We will need people to help with parking, selling raffle tickets and greeting guests. We are looking for items or monetary donations for a fall themed basket which will be raffled off. Please see Elaine Stafford or Jim DeHaven for more information.
Outdoor Clean-UpThe board has decided to hold off on work on the neighborhood garden until the springtime. However, there is still a lot of yard work that needs to be on our own property. We will meet at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 7, to do some outdoor cleanup of our parking lot and yard areas. Thank you!
Adult Classes ResumingOur adult spirituality classes will resume on Thursday evenings beginning at 6:00 PM September 5. We will be continuing our study of The Incarnate God by beginning volume 2 of this wonderful series on the feast days of the Church.
Fall Harvest PicnicMick & Sandy Sekerak are graciously opening their home and farm to us by hosting a fall harvest picnic on Sunday, October 6. Following the Divine Liturgy that day, we will head to the Sekerak farm at 797 Green Hill Road; Columbus, PA. There will be hay rides and other fall activities! The Sekeraks will be providing a meat entree and are asking those of us attending to bring side dishes and lawn
chairs. Please let Mick or Sandy if you plan on attending by September 29 so that they can have an accurate headcount.
Congratulations!A big congratulations to Alexis Frantz, daughter of Katie McIntyre, on her graduation from high school! She will be receiving an Orthodox Study Bible as a gift from the parish. May God grant her many years and many blessings in her future!
Thank You!The beautiful flowers on the tetrapod were donated by Susanne & Richard Demchak in memory of their parents, Joseph & Susan Demchak and are given in special commemoration of the Dormition of the Mother of God.

“He who seeks the forgiveness of his sins loves humility. But he who judges another strengthens his own evil deeds against himself.”—St. Mark the Ascetic
“To judge sins is the business of one who is sinless, but who is sinless except God? Who ever thinks about the multitude of his own sins in his heart never wants to make the sins of others a topic of conversation. To judge a man who has gone astray is a sign of pride, and God resists the proud. On the other hand, one who every hour prepares himself to give answer for his own sins will not quickly lift up his head to examine the mistakes of others.”—St. Gennadius of Constantinople
“A discerning man, when he eats grapes, takes only the ripe ones and leaves the sour. Thus also the discerning mind carefully
marks the virtues which he sees in any person. A mindless man seeks out the vices and failings ... Even if you see someone sin with your own eyes, do not judge; for often even your eyes are deceived.”—St. John of the Ladder
"If you have the sinful habit of judging your neighbor, then whenever you judge someone make three prostrations that day with this prayer: "Save, O Lord, and have mercy on him (whom I have judged) and by his prayers, have mercy on me, a sinner." Do this every time you judge someone. If you do this, God will see your sincerity and will deliver you from this sinful habit forever. And if you never judge anyone, then God will never judge you. In this way you will even receive salvation.”—Priest-confessor Sergei Pravdolubov
