The hurricanes that effect the Eastern part of the U.S. Originate off the west
Coast of Africa. They start off as a thunderstorm & will reach hurricane
status in 3 stages: 1. Tropical depression - swirling clouds and
rain with wind speeds < 38 mph. 2. Tropical storm - wind speeds of 39 to 73 mph.3. Hurricane - wind speeds greater
than 74 mph.
Hurricanes form when all 3 of the following conditions occur:

larger.
