CleaningClean only with a soft, dry cloth.Do not use paint thinners, solvents, cleaning fluids, or chemical-impregnated wiping cloths.

Setup

This section contains information about setting up your instrumentand preparing to play. Please go through this section carefully beforeturning the power on.

Power SupplyYou can power the instrument either by batteries or by power adaptor.Before you switch your instrument on, turn down the volume ofinstrument and the connected audio equipment first.

Using BatteriesThe instrument requires six AA size or equivalent alkaline batteries for power supply.1. Open the battery cabinet cover located on the bottom of the instrument.

2. Insert the batteries, carefully following the polarity markings on the cabinet.

3. Replace the cabinet cover. Make sure it locks firmly in place.

Notes:1. Do not mix used and new batteries.2. Always use the same types of batteries.3. Remove the batteries when the instrument is not in use for a long period of time.

Using Power Adaptor1. Before connecting to power supply, please set the [POWER] switch to OFF and set the master volume to minimum level.

2. Connect the power adaptor to the DC IN jack on the rear panel.

3. Plug the power adaptor into an appropriate AC outlet.

Notes:1. In order to save energy, the instrument will automatically shut down after 30 minutes if it is not used. (Please refer to Auto Power Off). 2. For your safety, please unplug the instrument when it is not in use or during a thunderstorm.

Setting the Music StandA music stand is supplied with the keyboard. You can easily attach itto the instrument by inserting it into the slots at the rear of the panel.

Connecting a Pair of HeadphonesA standard pair of stereo headphones can be connected to thePHONES jack for private practice or late-night playing. When a pair of headphones is plugged in, the internal speakers will be automatically shut off, sound can only be heard from the headphones.

Note:To avoid the risk of hearing loss, do not use headphones at high volume levels for a long period of time

Connecting a Sustain PedalA pedal can be plugged into the sustain jack and be used to switch sustain on or off. You can assign different functions to the connect-ed pedal in the Function Menu. Please refer to the Function Menu for details.

Connecting a ComputerUse a standard USB cable to connect the USB jack of the instru-ment to the USB port of a computer. With USB, you can save a keyboard performance to the computer or use the instrument to play back music played on the computer.

Note:In case the instrument does not correctly transmit messages with the computer via a USB3.0 interface, please use a USB2.0 interface.

Power SwitchBefore connecting the power supply, please set the [POWER] switch to “OFF” and set the master volume level to minimum.

1. Make sure the instrument is properly connected to power supply.

2. Press the POWER switch, the LCD screen will be lit and display parameters, indicating the instrument is powered on.

Note:If the LCD display does not light up after you turned on the instrument, please check the power connection.

Adjust the Master VolumeMove the [VOLUME] slider upwards to increase the volume level, or move the slider downwards to decrease the volume level.

Note:If the speakers do not produce sound, please check if the master volume is set too low or if headphones are plugged into the PHONES jack.

1. Press the [DEMO] button to enter the demo mode and start playing all demo songs in a loop.

2. Use the data dial or the [+/Yes]/ [-/No] button to select a demo song.

1. Press the [VOICE] button. Enter the Voice Mode. The LCD displays the current default voice name and number.

2. Select a Voice. Use the data dial or [+/Yes]/[-/No] button to select a desired voice. You can also use the Voice select buttons to select a voice. Each button has two preset voices. Press it repeatedly to switch between the first and the second preset voice.

3. Play the Voice. Play the keyboard to use the selected voice for performance.

Note:Each voice select button has two preset voices. Press the button repeatedly to switch between the upper and lower preset voice. If you select the upper voice of a button, pressing another button will also select the upper voice of that button. In the same way, if you select the lower voice of a button, pressing another button will select the lower voice of that button.

This instrument features a variety of preset songs, and each song can be practiced in Lesson Mode.1. Press the [SONG] button. Enter the song mode. It will play all songs circularly.

2. Select a song. Use the data dial or the [+/YES]/ [-/NO] button to select the song you want to play.

3. Press the [START/STOP] button. It will stop song playback. Press it again, it will play the current song repeatedly.

4. When song playback is stopped, press the [STYLE] or [VOICE] button to exit the song mode.

You can record your performance and save it to a user song.

1. Press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [RECORD] button to enter the user song menu. Then use the data dial or the [+/YES]/[-/NO] button to select a user song to which your recording will be saved.

2. Press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [RECORD] button to enter recording standby mode. You can select the desired voice, style etc. for recording.

3. Press the [START/STOP] button or play the keyboard to start recording.

4. During recording, press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [RECORD] button to exit recording.

5. When exit recording, press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [PLAY] button to enter the play menu. Use the data dial or the [+/YES]/[-/NO] button to select a user song. Again press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [PLAY] button to play back the selected user song.

6. During playback, press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [PLAY] button to exit the playback.

7. In the play menu, press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [RECORD] button, it will prompt “Delete?”. You can press [+/YES] to delete the current user song, or press [-/NO] to cancel and go back to the play menu.

The instrument features a variety of exceptionally realistic voices. Please refer to the Voice List.

Selecting a VoiceWhen power on, the “VOICE R1” icon will be lit and the LCD will display the current voice name and number.

Use the data dial or [+/YES]/ [-/NO] button to select a desired voice. You can also use the Voice select buttons to select a preset voice.

Note:when the dual and lower function are in use, you can press the [VOICE] button repeatedly to switch between Voice R1, R2 and L.

Playing Two Voice SimultaneouslyThe dual function allows two different voices to be layered together, creating a much richer sound. Turn the function on, you can select a voice for the dual voice "R2".

1. Press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [DUAL] button to turn on the dual function. The “DUAL” and “VOICE R2” icons light up and the LCD shows the current dual voice number and name.

Use the data dial or [+/Yes]/[-/No] button to select a dual voice. Or press one of the Voice select buttons to select a preset voice.

2. In dual mode, press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [DUAL] button to turn off the dual function. The “DUAL” and “VOICE R2” icons become unlit.

Note:When the lower and dual functions are in use, only the right hand area will play the dual voice.

Playing Different Voices with Both HandsThe lower function splits the keyboard into the left and the right hand areas, each playing a different voice. The left hand voice is the lower voice “L”.

The default split point is F#3 (19) , however you can assign it to any other key. Please refer to the Function Menu.

1. Press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [LOWER] button to turn on the Lower function. The “LOWER” and “L” icons light up and the LCD shows the current lower voice number and name.

2. Use the data dial or [+/Yes]/[-/No] button to select a lower voice. Or press one of the Voice select buttons to select a preset voice.

3. In lower mode, press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [LOWER] button to turn off the lower function. The “LOWER” and “VOICE L” icons become unlit.

The auto accompaniment feature puts a full backing band at your fingertips. To use it, all you have to do is to play the chords with your left hand using your selected accompaniment style, and then the accompaniment will automatically play along, instantly following the chords you play. With auto accompaniment, even a solo performer can enjoy playing with the backing of an entire band or orchestra. The instrument features a variety of styles, please refer to the Style List. Try selecting the different styles and enjoy the auto accompaniment.

Play Auto Accompaniment (rhythm track only)1. Press [STYLE] button. Enter the style mode. The “STYLE” icon will light up. The LCD displays the name and number of the current style.

2. Select a style. Use the data dial or [+/Yes]/[-/No] button to select a desired style. Or press one of the Style select buttons to select a preset style.

3. Start playing a style. Press the [START/STOP] button to start the rhythm tracks of the auto accompaniment. Also you can press [SYNC START] and then play any key to start the rhythm tracks of the auto accompaniment.

Play Auto Accompaniment (all tracks)1. Turn on the auto accompaniment function. Press the [CHORD MODE] button to turn on the A.B.C. function. The “A.B.C” indicator will be lit. The keyboard is split and the left hand area is the chord section. You can play different chords in the chord section.

Press the [CHORD MODE] button again to enter full range mode. The “FULL RANGE” indicator will be lit. You can play chords over the entire keyboard in multi-fingering.

2. Play auto accompaniment of all tracks. Press the [SYNC START] button, then play a chord in the chord area to start the auto accompaniment. When you play a different chord, the accompaniment will change along.

Alternatively, press the [START/STOP] button to start the rhythm part. Then play a chord in the chord section, the chord part will start as well.

Accompaniment SectionsSpecially created sections can be added into the accompaniment, making your performance more professional and personalized.

INTRO SectionThe Intro is an opening section of the song. When the intro pattern finished, the system will automatically shift to the main section.

MAIN SectionThe Main is the principal section of a song. It will play and repeat the Main pattern until another section's button is pressed.

FILL IN SectionAuto fill in function automatically adds a fill to your performance. When the fill-in is finished,accompaniment shifts to the Main section.ENDING SectionThe Ending is the ending section of a song. When the ending is finished,accompaniment automatically stops.The length of the ending differsdepending on the selected style.

Playing Different Accompaniment Sections1. Press the [STYLE] button.2. Press a Style select button, data dial or [+/YES]/ [-/NO] button to select a style.3. Press [CHORD MODE] button to enter A.B.C. mode.4. Press [SYNC START] button.5. Press the [FILL A] button, select the Main A section.6. Press the [INTRO/ENDING] button. Now the “A” indicator flashes on LCD, and the style is ready to play.7. It will start the accompaniment as soon as you start playing in Chord section. When the playback of the intro is finished, it automatically leads into Main A section.8. Press the [FILL B] button. A fill-in plays, automatically followed by the Main B section.9. Press the [INTRO/ENDING] button to play an ending. When the ending is finished, the auto accompaniment automatically stops.

Fade1. Fade In When style is stopped, press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [FADE] button to turn on the fade-in function. When style starts playing, the volume will increase from low to high and the “◢FADE” icon will flash along.

2. Fade Out During style playback, press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [FADE] button to turn on the fade-out function. The volume will decrease from high to low and the “FADE◣” icon will flash along until the style is stopped.

3. Fade In/ Out Time The default time value is 10 seconds.

Accompaniment Volume ControlThe function will adjust the accompaniment volume, so as to keep anappropriate balance between the accompaniment volume and the voicevolume.1. Press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [ACCOMP +]/[ACCOMP -] button to set accompaniment volume over the range of 0~32. The LCD displays the current volume level.

2. Press and hold [SHIFT], then hold down the [ACCOMP +]/ [ACCOMP -] to make a quick change in the value.

3. When LCD displays the volume level, press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [ACCOMP +] and [ACCOMP -] buttons simultaneously to mute the accompaniment part. The LCD displays “OFF Accomp”. Do the operation again to turn on the accompaniment volume.Note:It will automatically exit the setting if there is no operation in 5 seconds.

Chord BasicsA chord, in music, is a harmonic set of three or more notes that are heard simultaneously. The most common type of chord is a triad. A triad is a set of three notes that can be stacked in thirds. When arranged this way, the triad's notes, from lowest pitched to highest, are called: the Root, the Third, and the Fifth.

Triad TypeThe basic triad types are as follows:

Chord InversionWhen a chord’s root is not the lowest note in the triad, it is called an inversion chord. When the root note is the lowest note, it is called a root-position chord. If we put the Third and Fifth in the root position, it forms an “Inversion”, so it is called an “Inverted Chord”. A major triad and its inversion are illustrated on the right.

Chord NameThe chord name consists of two parts: Chord root and Chord type.

Single FingerSingle-finger makes it easy to produce major, seventh, minor and minor seventh chords by pressing a minimum number of keys on theauto accompaniment section.

Multi-fingerMulti-finger allows you to play chords in normal fingering. Try playing the 32 types of C chords listed on the right.

Full RangeIn Full Range mode, it detects chords played in normal fingering (Multi-finger) over the entire keyboard range.

TempoEach style is preset with a default or standard tempo, however, you can change it as needed.

1. Press the [TEMPO+]/ [TEMPO-] button to change the current tempo. Alternatively, when the tempo is flashing on LCD, use the data dial to make a quick change in the value.

2. Press the [TEMPO+] and [TEMPO-] buttons simultaneously to reset the tempo to the default value.

Note:When style stops, changing the style will automatically reset the tempo. However, changing the style during style playback will not result in tempo change

TuneThis function sets the pitch of entire keyboard by steps of cents.1. Press and hold the [SHIFT] button and then repeatedly press the [FUNCTION] button to select the tune menu. The LCD displays “xxx Tune”. Use [+/YES]/ [-/NO] button or data dial to change tune value. Its range is from -50 to 50 cents.

2. Press [+/YES] and [-/NO] buttons simultaneously to set the tune value to its default setting: 0.3. The setting is applied to both accompaniment and the voice.

Split PointThis function assigns a key to split the entire keyboard into two areas. 1. Press and hold the [SHIFT] button and then repeatedly press the [FUNCTION] button to select split point menu. The LCD displays “xxx Split Pt”. Use [+/YES]/ [-/NO] button or data dial to change Split Point.

2. Press [+] and [-] buttons simultaneously to set the split point value to its default setting.Note:The Split point belongs to the left hand area.

1. Press the [MIXER] button to enter the mixer menu. The LCD displays “030 Rhythm_s” for the initial time when power on. Next time when you enter the mixer menu, it will show the same option of your last operation.

TouchThe touch function lets you dynamically and expressively controls the level of the voice with your playing strength – just as on an acoustic instrument.1. Press and hold the [SHIFT] button and then press the [TOUCH] button to enter touch menu. The LCD displays “xxx Touch”.

2. Use [+/YES]/ [-/NO] button or data dial to change touch response level. Default level of touch response is 3.

3. If the value is set to OFF, that means no touch response to keyboard.

MetronomeThe metronome provides a steady beat to help you practice at a preset tempo. Press [METRONOME] button to start the metronome.

To stop the metronome, press the [METRONOME] button again. (Themetronome type can be set in the function menu.)

Note:If you turn on the metronome during style playback, the metronome sound will start from the next beat. Its time signature and tempo will be reset to match the current style.

Sustain1. Press and hold the [SHIFT] button and then press the [SUSTAIN] button to start sustain function. The sustain icon lights up on LCD. The notes you play on the keyboard will have a longer sustain.

2. To stop the sustain function, press and hold the [SHIFT] button and then press the [SUSTAIN] button again. The sustain icon goes out.

Note:To have a better sustain effect, you can use a sustain pedal. (Referto pedal function for more details.)

Pitch BendUse the pitch bend wheel to bend notes up (roll the wheel away from you) or down (roll the wheel toward you) while playing the keyboard.The pitch bend wheel is self-centering and will automatically return tonormal pitch when released.

With the pitch bend wheel, you can easily imitate the pitch bend effect of the guitar, violin, saxophone or other instruments, and make your performance more vivid.

ModulationPress the [MODULATION] button to add a vibrato effect to the notes played on the keyboard. Release the button to stop the effect. The modulation effect plays an important part in the string performance such as urheen, guitar, and violin, greatly enriching your performance.

DSPThe DSP simulates sounds in real environment. With the DSP effects, you can add ambiance and depth to your performance in a variety of ways.

1. If the DSP effect is disabled, you can press and hold [SHIFT] , then press the [DSP] button to turn it on. The DSP icon will be lit. The DSP is turned on by default when power on.

2. To disable the DSP effect, press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [DSP] button. The DSP icon becomes unlit.

TransposePress and hold the [SHIFT] button and then press the [TRANSPOSE]button to enter the transpose menu. LCD displays "xxx Transpos".Use [+/YES]/ [-/NO] button or data dial to change transpose value,adjustable range:-12~ +12, the default value is: 0.

HarmonyThe harmony function will automatically add harmony notes to the notes played in the right-hand section, which gives you a rich and harmonic expression.1. Press the [HARMONY] button to turn the harmony effect on.

2. Press the [CHORD MODE] button to turn on the A.B.C. function.

3. Play a chord with your left hand.

4. Play in the right hand area, it will add harmony effect to the notes you play.

Notes:1. Harmony function is not available when Full Range mode is in use.2. Harmony types “Hrm1+5”, “HrmOctv1” and “HrmOctv2” are always available, but the rest are not selectable until the A.B.C is turned on.

This function is designed to make your performance easy and efficient. It allows you to save virtually all panel settings to a single registration memory for instant recall.

Registration BanksThere are 12 memory banks, and each bank has 4 memories (M1-M4).Press the [BANK] button to select a bank over the range of 1 ~ 12. The LCD displays “xxx Mem Bank”.

Registering the Panel Setting andRecalling the Registered Panel Settings1. Press and hold the [STORE] button, then press one of the [M1]-[M4] buttons, it will save the current panel settings to the selected memory. Note: The operation will overwrite the previous data.

2. Press one of [M1] - [M4] buttons, it will instantly recall the settings saved in the memory and set the control panel accordingly.

Registrable ParametersYou can store the following parameters to M1-M4: voice R1, voice R2, voice L, style, tempo, function menu, mixer settings.

Notes:1. After recalling a memory, if you change the related panel settings, the current memory number will be cleared.2. The stored parameters will not be lost after power off.

When One Touch Setting is switched on, you can instantly recall all auto accompaniment related settings including voices selection and digital effects, all with the single touch of a button.

1. Press the [O.T.S.] button to turns on the One Touch Setting function. The LCD displays “O.T.S. ”. Press one of the One Touch Setting buttons [M1]-[M4].Various panel settings (such as voice, effect, etc.) that match the selected style can be instantly recalled. In O.T.S. mode, it automatically turns on the A.B.C. function and disables the dual and lower function.

2. In O.T.S. mode, if you press the [O.T.S.] button, it will switch to register memory. The “O.T.S.” indicator goes out and the "MEMORY" indicator will be lit.

3. One Touch Setting parameters include: Voice (Volume, Pan, Octave) Dual (Volume, Pan, Octave) Left Hand (Volume, Pan, Octave)

You can record in real time and save your keyboard performance as a user song on the instrument.

Prepare Recording1. Before you start recording, you need to select a user song to which the recording will be saved.

2. Press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [RECORD] button to enter the user song menu. The "REC" indicator will be lit. Use the data dial or the [+/YES]/[-/NO] button to select a user song. If the selected user song is blank, the LCD will display “NoFileX”. If the user song you select has data, the LCD will display “xxx RecSngX”, such as “001 RecSng1”.

3. Press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [RECORD] button to enter recording standby mode. The "REC" indicator and the beats start flashing. You can select the desired voice, style etc. for recording.

4. In recording standby mode, you can press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [RECORD] button to exit the record mode.

Note:If the selected user song has data, after recording, the previous data will be replaced.

Start Recording1. In recording standby mode, press the [START/STOP] button to start recording. The beats on LCD will flash in circle, and the measure starts to count. You can press the [STAR/ STOP] button to start or stop playing the style.

2. Alternatively, you can play the keyboard to start recording. If the A.B.C. function is turned on, playing the keys in the left hand section will start chord accompaniment. In recording standby mode, if the A.B.C. function is not in use, you can press the [START/ STOP] button twice to start playing the style.

3. In record mode, the [SYNC START] button is not selectable.

Stop RecordingManually Stop RecordingPress and hold the [SHIFT] button and then press the [RECORD]button to stop recording. The “REC” icon and the beats become unlit.

Automatically Stop Recoding1. When recording is in process, if the memory is full, the recording will stop and save automatically.

2. During recording, if the style is playing, you can press the [INTRO/ ENDING] button to play an ending. Recording will automatically stop when the ending section is finished.

Playback Recording1. Press and hold [SHIFT], then press [PLAY] to enter the play menu. Use the data dial or [+/YES]/ [-/NO] button to select a user song to play. If the user song has data, LCD will display “XXX PlySngX”, such as “001 PlySng1”. If the user song is blank, LCD will display “XXX NofileX”.

2. Press and hold the [SHIFT] button and then press the [PLAY] button to play back the user song.

3. To stop the playback, press and hold the [SHIFT] button and then press the [PLAY] button.

Delete User Song1. Press and hold [RECORD] and [PLAY] buttons, then turn on the instrument, all user songs will be cleared.

2. In the play menu, press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [RECORD] button, LCD will prompt “Delete?”. Press [+/YES] to delete the user song, or press [-/NO] to cancel.

Note:The user songs saved on the instrument will not be lost after power off.

This instrument features several wonderful demos. Please refer to Demo List.

1. Press the [DEMO] button, the DEMO icon is lit, all demo songs will start playing in a continuous loop.

2. Use [+/YES]/ [-/NO] button or data dial to select a demo song. Press the [DEMO] or [START/STOP] button to stop playing and exit the demo mode.

By pressing the [PIANO] button, the instrument replicates a concert grand voice. All parameters become optimized for piano performance.1. Press the [PIANO] button to enter or exit piano mode.

The instrument features a variety of preset songs. These songs can be practiced in lesson mode. Please refer to the Song List.

Listening to the Songs1. Press the [SONG] button to enter the song mode. All songs will be played circularly.

2. Use the [+/YES]/ [-/NO] button to select a song

3. During song playback, press the [SONG] or [START/STOP] button to stop the playback, then press the [START/STOP] button again to play the current song in a loop.

4. When the song is stopped, pressing the [STYLE] or [VOICE] button will exit the song mode.

Song Control1. Introductory Beat Before song start playing, it has the introductory beat; the measure starts from negative value. It begins to play the melody when the measure goes to 1.

2. REW, FF and PAUSE When the song is playing: Press the [ ] button to fast forward the song. Press the [ ] button to rewind the song (base on the measure). Press the [ ] button to pause the playing song, press it again to continue playing.

3. Song Repeat When playing the song, press the [ ] once to set the beginning of a loop section. Then press it again to set the loop end. During loop playback, press this button again to quit the loop and go back to song playback.

Lesson ModeThe buttons related to lesson mode are [SHIFT] + [LESSON], [SHIFT] + [L], [SHIFT] + [R] and [SHIFT] + [L] + [R].1. Enter the lesson mode While the song is stop playing, holding down the [SHIFT] button and press the [LESSON] button.

2. Select a hand part to practice. Press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [L] button to select to practice the left hand part. Press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [R] button to practice the right hand part. Press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [L] and [R] buttons to practice both hands.

3. Press the [START/STOP] to start the lesson.

Notes:1. The left hand part may differ depending on the song type. Some songs may not have lessons for the left hand part.2. When the lesson is finished, your performance will be evaluated. However, no evaluation will be given if you stop half way.3. LCD will display notes on the staff during song playback.

Lesson 1 - Practice timingWhen song stops, press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [LESSON] button to enter the lesson 1 mode. The “LESSON 1” icon will be lit on LCD.

In Lesson 1, you will learn to play at the correct time value. As long as you play a key at the right time, the correct note will sound.

Lesson 2 - Practice note accuracyWhen song stops, press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [LESSON] button a second time to enter lesson 2 mode. The "LESSON 2" icon will be lit.

In Lesson 2, you will learn to play the correct notes. The lesson will continue only when you have played the note displayed on LCD, otherwise the song will stop and wait.

Note: In lesson 2, notes will not sound unless you have played the right keys.

Lesson 3 - PerformanceWhen song stops, press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [LESSON] button a third time to enter lesson 3 mode.

In lesson 3, you will learn to play the correct notes at the correct time value. An evaluation will be given, based on the correctness of both the notes and the timing.

Performance EvaluationEach time when you finish a lesson, your performance will be evaluat-ed. The instrument will show the evaluation result “Try Again”, “Good”, “Very Good” and “Excellent”.

If you know the name of a chord but don't know how to play it, you can use the Chord Dictionary function.

DICT 1 (Chord Learning Mode)Press and hold [SHIFT], then press the [DICT.] button to enter DICT. 1 mode. The LCD shows "Dict.1". The A.B.C. function is automatically turned on.Use the keys C4~B5 to assign the chord type, and the keys C6~B6 to assign the chord root. When the chord type and chord root are assigned, the LCD will show the chord name and chord notes. Try playing this chord in the left hand area.

DICT 2 (Chord Testing Mode)In DICT 1 mode, press and hold the [SHIFT] button and then press the [DICT.] button to enter the DICT 2 mode. In DICT 2, you can have a chord test. LCD will display a chord name in random order. If the chord fails to be played within 3 seconds, its notes will appear on LCD. Once the chord is played correctly, a new chord name will appear after a few seconds.

You can press the [+/YES]/ [-/NO] to display a different chord name. The right hand section of the keyboard is not available.

Exit Chord DictionaryIn DICT 2 mode, press and hold the [SHIFT] button and then pressthe [DICT.] button again to turn off chord dictionary.

Note:The instrument will no produce sound when using the right hand area to assign the chord type and chord root. When you play the chord correct-ly in the left hand area, the instrument will produce a correct sound. But if the chord is not correctly played, the instrument will play back the chord sound instead.

You can assign different functions to the connected sustain pedal in the Function Menu. Please see the Function Menu.

1. Sustain Pedal This pedal function performs the same function as the damper pedal on an acoustic piano, letting you sustain the sound of voices even after releasing the keys. Step and press on the pedal to turn the sustain effect on. Release the pedal to turn the sustain effect on.

2. Soft Pedal When the soft pedal is selected, pressing this pedal will make the notes you play sound softer.

3. Memory Pedal When the memory pedal is selected, pressing this pedal will call up the registration memory one by one.

Note: If the current memory recalled contains pedal settings, the pedal settings will be overlapped or ignored.

4. Style Start/Stop Pedal When the style start/stop pedal is selected, pressing this pedal will start/stop accompaniment.

What's MIDI?1. MIDI (short for Musical Instrument Digital Interface) allows a wide variety of electronic musical instruments, computers and other related devices to connect and communicate with one another. MIDI carries event messages that specify notation, pitch and velocity, control signals for parameters such as volume, vibrato, audio panning, and program change information to change the voice selections.

2. The instrument can output the real-time playback information via MIDI and control external MIDI devices. The instrument can also accept incoming MIDI messages and generate sound accordingly.

Note:The instrument has a USB (DEVICE) terminal, which can be connected to a computer for MIDI input or MIDI output. This terminal cannot be connected to another instrument, unless the instrument has a USB host terminal.

The Main Application of MIDI1. Used as a tone generator This instrument can receive MIDI data from computer, and execute MIDI controls such as changing channels, changing voices, adding effects and making sounds. Please refer to MIDI Implementation Chart for more MIDI controls.

2. Used as a MIDI Keyboard When you play the keyboard, change the voices or turn the DSP on/off, the instrument will send MIDI data to the computer, which will be saved as recordings. (It only records your keyboard performance when playing along with accompaniment.) You can edit the recordings on computer, such as changing the channels or voices, or adding DSP effects. Then play back the recordings on the instrument or another sound source (such as a sound card). You can play the keyboard along with the playback. Please refer to MIDI Implementation Chart for more MIDI controls.

3. Select a MIDI Device To use the USB port of the instrument, you may need to configure the software on the computer. For example, set the Cakewalk Pro Audio MIDI software under the WINDOWS XP operating system.

Open the Cakewalk Pro Audio MIDI software. Set the USB AUDIO DEVICE either as the MIDI Input port on the left window, or as the MIDI Output port on the right window, then press “OK”. Alternatively, you can select the MIDI device on the TOOLS MIDI DEVICES menu of Cakewalk. Configure the same settings when using other similar MIDI software.

Troubleshooting

Specifications

Problem

The speakers produce a pop soundwhenever the power is turned ON or OFF.

No sound when the keyboard is played.

When using a mobile phone, noise is produced.

The auto accompaniment does not play back even Sync is in standby condition and a key is pressed.

Certain notes sound at wrong pitch.

The Harmony function does not operate.

Possible Cause and Solution

This is normal and no cause for alarm.

1. Check if the master volume is set too low.2. Check if headphones are plugged into the PHONES jack.3. Check if the R1/R2/L1 voice volume is set too low (in the Mixer).

Using a mobile phone in close proximity to the instrument may produce interference. To prevent this, turn off the mobile phone or use it further away from the instrument.

You may be trying to start accompaniment by playing a key in theright-hand range of the keyboard. To start the accompaniment withSync Start, make sure to play a key in the left-hand range of thekeyboard.

Make sure that the tuning value is set to 0. Press and hold the[+/YES] and [-/NO] buttons at the same time, then turning the poweron will set INSTRUMENT to default.

Harmony function is not available when Voice R1 is a drum kit.
