Electroformed prostheses and their simplicityAGC® systems for dental electroforming

AGC®

„It‘s the generation of the „best agers“, who, through

their attitude towards life, well-being, dignity and

vibrancy with high-quality individual dental prosthesis

solutions, are making for continuous growth.“

3

A new dimension ofdental electroforming

Successfully introduced by WIELAND and established in the dental prosthetics industry for more than 20 years

ago under the brand name AGC® (Auro Galva Crown® - electroformed gold crowns), electroforming is no

„temporary fashion,“ rather is now more than ever a high quality and comfortable form of dental

treatment. There is good reason for this too. Using pure gold, this extremely sophisticated process stands

up to distinctive wishes from the patient and to growing potential of removable dental prostheses.

By 1986, WIELAND had already brought electroforming technology into the dental laboratory in a biocom-

patible and environmentally-friendly way in the form of a nontoxic gold bath. Constant further development

of the equipment technology, materials and gold baths did not just improve cost-effectiveness in the labora-

tory, but also expanded the range of indications. It is the outstanding fit properties in particular that make

electroformed structures so unique. Overall, an elaborate system of automated equipment and perfectly-tuned

baths and materials are available to AGC® users - a guarantee for top class prosthetic work.

Explanation of the combination possibilities

When using AGC® Micro/Color Brightener Additive or AGC® Multi/Multi Color Brightener Additive, AGC® Hardener can also be added. Important: When using AGC® Micro/Color Brightening Additive, no AGC® NEM Activator is permitted be added.

AGC® Multi/Multi Color Brightening Additive must be used if either a AGC® NEM Activator or the combination of AGC® Hardener and AGC® NEM Activator are to be used.

When using AGC® MicroVision gold electrolyte, AGC® Hardener and/or AGC® NEM Activator can also be added.

The range of indications for electroforming technology has been transformed over

the past few years. In the course of the development of overlay and conical crown

technology, electroforming has come more and more to the fore for secondary crowns.

Meanwhile, dental electroforming has found another area of application as mesostruc-

tures for implant posts. The precision of electroforming is ideal for dental prostheses.

Both are considered as precision dental techniques.

Individual cemented crowns

Fixed restorations on implants are increasingly being cemented. Cementation is

beneficial due to the passive fit of the prosthesis. The adhesive cement acts as a kind

of buffer for the implants. The load on the tips when chewing is absorbed by the

cement gap therefore meaning that the implants are under less strain. A screw-down

crown does not offer this security and often leads to cracking. Micro Leakage and

loose screws are common results. The worst cases, bacterial colonisations can occur.

Depending on the procedure, the AGC® electroformed copings are fitted onto the

abutment like a second layer of skin which ensure an equal cement gap.

If space is restricted in the anterior area, the construction of the frameworks must be as

delicate as possible as only then can a sufficient layer thickness for porcelain veneers be

guaranteed. AGC® electroforming technology is essential here. The warm yellow shade

of the pure gold also provides support to the aesthetic aspect of the crown. Even with

extremely transparent gums, the electroformed crowns with circular porcelain shoulders

make for outstanding results. It is also a big advantage that the electroformed copings

can be used with any porcelain veneer.

Implant supraconstruction impacted by bridges and overlays

The AGC® electroformed mesostructures feature outstanding operating properties in

overlaid systems. In combination with a bridge restoration, there is the opportunity to

interlock in positions where strong tooth replacements are not so easy to implement and

to simulate a fixed tooth replacement. Natural abutments can be integrated into the im-

plant bond without any strain thanks to AGC® electroforming technology and intraoral

adhesion technology.

Overlay implant suprastructure

Restorations with overlay prostheses are of course a „precise“ solution not only for

natural abutment teeth, but also for implants. With implants, electroforming is carried

out directly onto the primary components. As a result, accuracy of fit is extremely high.

The AGC® copings and tertiary structure electrodeposited in this way can easily be

adhered in the mouth without any strain. Porcelain or an alloy with a high gold content

can be used for the primary components depending on the wish of the patient.

Recently, dental electroforming has found a further area of application as a meso-

structure for implant posts, which, over the course of the advancing development

of implantology, has meant that it has become a primary growth market.
