E1-100 – Basic Electrical

E1-100A – Electrical Principles

This course is aimed at those who need a basic understanding of electrical principles and practice. With no entry requirements, delegates will be able to develop a basic understanding of what electricity is and how it works. From circuit design through to technical concepts, this course allows those who excel with theory and those who are practically biased to get the most out of this five-day course. The course can be extended with a number of bolt-on modules to further advance the delegates understanding of Electrical Principles.

E1-101 – Electrical Safety Awareness

This course is aimed at those who need a basic awareness of the dangers associated with the generation, transmission and use of electrical energy.

Daily, we use electrical equipment without giving a second thought to what might happen if things go wrong. The consequences of working in an unsafe manner with electricity, along with avoiding problems in the first place, are all considered in this course.

This course is aimed at those who require a basic understanding of electrical principles in order to allow them to further develop their skills in the workplace. On completion of the course, the delegate will have a solid understanding of basic circuit arrangements and component function.

The course focuses on developing theoretical understanding through practical application and is very much a ‘hands-on’ style of delivery. Working with circuit boards operating from a safe voltage supply, learning through trial and error is encouraged, and working as part of a team helps to embed the basic principles covered in the course.

E1-117 - Mechanical to Electrical Conversion

E3-101 – Guarding Machinery and Emergency Stop Systems

This is an advanced version of our Basic Electric Course and includes all of the necessary skills and training to allow on-the-job learning to commence. This course is also ideal for those who already undertake electrical repairs and maintenance but have no formal training.

Upon completion, delegates will possess the necessary general knowledge to undertake basic fault-finding and component repair, associated with first-level breakdowns and maintenance but is not a replacement for formal core training to become a recognised technician. It is the responsibility of the employer to ensure that site based experience is gained and to determine competence.

This course is aimed at those with responsibility for ensuring that machinery is safe to use. This course aims to give delegates an awareness of the requirements for machine guarding and emergency stop systems. It focuses on guarding dangerous parts of machinery and the provision of stop systems to remove danger in an emergency.

By the end of the course the delegate should have an understanding of the principle legislation applicable to machine safety, be able to identify the types of injuries that should be guarded against, be able to suggest suitable types of guards for various risks and working practices, recommend inspection and maintenance checks and describe the basic requirements of emergency stop controls.

This qualification is primarily aimed at practising electricians with relevant experience and other allied professionals e.g. surveyors, consultants and other trades needing to update and enhance their understanding of the IET Regulations. It is also suitable for anyone wishing to demonstrate an understanding of the IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

For those candidates who already hold the previous 17th Edition qualification (2382-15) there is a 1 Day course available which is an overview of the changes between the 17th and 18th edition followed by the full exam.

This qualification intends to provide candidates with an introduction in how to inspect and test (conduct initial verification) of electrical installations. It is aimed at practicing electricians who have not yet carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require some update training before going on to achieve the Level 3 Award in inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations.
