Pressure transducer for control pumpsSetra Systems, Inc, a manufacturer and designer of pressure measurement instrumentation, has introduced the Model 231 Multi-Sense, a wet-to-wet, differential pressure transducer suitable for users who need to monitor control pump differential pressures and the flow measurement of gasses or liquids.

The Model 231 is offered in three versions, each with four unidirectional pressure ranges and four bidirectional pressure ranges. The MS1 has ranges from as low as ±5 psid up to 50 psid, the MS2 from ±10 psid up to 100 psid, and the MS3 from ±25 psid up to 250 psid.

All three versions feature the company’s dual pressure sensor design, which incorporates thin film sensing technology for good thermal accuracy and signal linearity. Each unit has been temperature compensated to +32°F to +130°F with zero and

span accurate to within 0.02% per °F.

The design of the pressure transducer can reduce inventory and installation costs by providing the user with field selectable features such as switch-selectable pressure ranges, selectable analogue outputs that include true two-wire 4 to 20 mA output, three wire 0 to 5 VDC, 0 to 10 VDC, and 1 to 5 VDC output, and unidirectional and bidirectional ranging of span, all in one unit. An optional LCD display is also available for in situ reporting of range and output status.

Wilo Pumps has developed what it claims is the industry’s largest capacity booster system for pumping water.

The new system, called PUZeN, can be equipped with up to eight individual general pumps, and the wireless control function enables users to save on energy and system maintenance costs, according to the company.

Booster systems are installed on industrial sites or skyscrapers supplying water to the top of the buildings. Wilo’s system will be installed in Korea. “There has been constant pressure from the industry for the development of tailored larger booster systems, as 40% of the total population reportedly resides in apartments in South Korea, and there are many multi-functional skyscrapers,” Wilo’s regional CEO, Kim Yun-joong said.

“The latest technology is conveniently integrated into the building management system with a wireless control function and it protects users from unexpected water cuts,” he added.

Dosing pump for small quantitiesKNF Neuberger has developed the NF5KTDC-B4, a micro diaphragm pump which makes it possible to dose accurately small quantities of liquid in the same way as more expensive conventional full-feature peristaltic dosing pumps.

The pump works with an 0-5 volt control signal which

controls the brushless motor’s speed and flow rate between 5 and 70 ml/min. A linear rpm/ response is an indication of the system’s precision and repeatability. An integrated pulse generator enables the operator to monitor the motor speed of the pump, keep track of the liquid dosage and therefore calibrate the pump.

The pump, which incorporates a 12 to 24VDC input range motor, is compact (31 x 26 x 28 mm), has a service life of over 10,000 hours, and requires less than 1 watt of power. It is suitable for pumping and dosing both neutral and corrosive liquids. It has a suction height of 13 ft water and will pump pressures up to 14 psig.

Caprari has updated its E series of 6 in to 22 in electric submersible pump, which are available with power ratings of up to 370 kW, with the introduction of 100 new electropumps.

The company has also boosted pumping head by an average of 70% in the mixed flow versions and 50% in the radial pumps, with maximum increases of up to 125% and pressure values that reach as much as 850 m (85 bar).

The radial series, which is made of micro-cast stainless steel and with a canned-type structure, is suitable for deep wells and aggressive water. The pumping head can be

increased to a considerable extent in pumps with this type of structure, while the mechanical strength and rigidity of the wet end have improved reliability and long-lasting use.

The electro-pumps are supplied with submersible motors designed and manufactured by Caprari, which are also available in the version for use in sea or aggressive water.

The company’s full range of 6 in to 14 in water-cooled submersible motors are available with power ratings of up to 370 kW for the 2 pole versions and up to 240 kW for the 4 pole versions.

Pump control valve reduces rapid cycling

Danfoss Flomatic Corp has introduced the Hydro Stat Model C3100, a new direct-acting pump control with integral built-in bypass. The constant pressure pump control valve reduces rapid pump cycling and maintains a pre-set operating pressure, which is field adjustable.

The Hydro Stat features a low lead alloy body and bell housing that has threaded female I.D. x male O.D. on inlet and outlet connections, and corrosion resistant internal components with a nylon reinforced Buna-N diaphragm.

The valve can be installed vertically or horizontally and can be installed in the wall casing.
