The innovative forward-pedaling design, developed in 2003, was first featured in

Electra Townie and 20” Kids’ bicycles and was named Flat Foot Technology .

Over the years, this industry innovation has been integrated to varying degrees into

the Electra Cruiser and Amsterdam collections.

Flat Foot Technology ’s unique design starts at the heart of the bicycle by moving

the crank forward of the seat tube creating a forward pedaling ride position. The

technology allows riders to sit comfortably upright in the saddle with proper leg

extension for pedaling. This upright position helps reduce tension in the back, neck,

shoulders, arms and wrists, and opens up a wider view of the road. Riders are able to

more easily reach their feet on the ground at any time for control and stability.

Additionally, the proprietary innovation allows for easy adjustments to fit various-sized

riders within one frame size.

Electra has spent the past nineteen years refining the classic American cruiser

with innovative frame geometry and groundbreaking design to create the bike

you see today: a modern masterpiece that rides as good as it looks. When we

came to California from Europe in the early 90s, we fell instantly in love with

cruiser bicycles—those rusty relics of retro Americana with the big balloon

tires, exaggerated angles and swooping steel frames reminiscent of the days

of doo-wop and Beach Blanket Bingo. Crazy about these icons of coastal

California culture, we set out to find some for ourselves but quickly learned

the only cruisers to be had were true vintage models—and they were rusty,

dilapidated and in need of serious repair. Though at one time wildly popular,

it seemed these American beauties were bound for extinction. We spent time

exploring why traditional cruisers had lost their appeal—they were slow, heavy

and hard to handle—so we invented a solution that has become an Electra

hallmark: keep the nostalgic looks of the iconic originals but modernize the

mechanics with quality components and materials, precision engineering and

ergonomically-innovative angles for a much-improved ride. We started with

the frame, refining its dimensions to achieve an upright, forward-pedaling

riding position that facilitates proper leg extension, makes it easier to reach

the ground while seated and lessens tension in the arms, shoulders and back

for increased comfort, efficiency and plenty of pedal power. We then added

Electra-exclusive aesthetics and accessories—custom handlebars, grips,

fenders and racks, baskets and trays, ultra-comfortable saddles, special paint

applications, graphics and more—to smooth the ride and create that one of-

Inspired by the rich historical heritage of European hand built bicycles. Named for an Italian-

influenced area of Switzerland with a landscape of lakes and winding mountain roads, Ticino

pays homage to the bicycles that once toured such regions by carrying on the tradition of

quality craftsmanship, durability and attention to detail. Stylistically, Ticino picks up, where bike

builders left off in the 40s and 50s, but does so with the design precision and integrity of

today’s materials and manufacturing processes.

Period-piece components, not produced in decades— were re-examined: retro-style hubs,

cranksets, chainrings, tourist handlebars, brake levers, forks, pedals and rims—Ticino’s

revisited and retooled parts retain the aesthetics of the originals, but reapply them with modern

mechanics and an eye on improved performance. Fast-rolling 700C wheels complement a host

of drivetrains, ranging from a 7-speed to a 20-speed derailleur—with options in between. The

Ticino line up allows you to upgrade, customize or accessorize your ride for the types of cross-

city spins, office commutes or weekend wanderings this bike was bred for. With its mix of
